I think I'm a moron- can't seem to Delete old mails!

(Zone 5b)

What on earth am I not seeing here? I had a ton of emails that I want to delete...permanently.
So I checked the box to the left of each mail, and apparently just "moved" them into a folder called Deleted Items. They still exist IN that folder.

Then I open up one of the mails, and see a "Delete this" button at the top. I click it. It sends me to my Inbox, where there are presently only two items because I want to keep those recent ones. I go back to the "Deleted Items" folder, only to find that the item I just "delete this"...is still there!

HELP this moron, please. Make these emails go away!!! (Thank you)

I've noticed I can't seem to delete old dmails also. I just figured we didn't have the option. If I'm wrong, would love to know how to do it!

Check the box to the left (the one that says move) and then click on the drop down menu at the bottom and hilight the "deleted" file.

But how do you dump your Deleted folder when it has several deleted files in it?

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Ah, good question. I thought they were gone when they went to "deleted" but apparently they aren't.

Mine are still in there. Getting several now! LOL

First answer was "we can't"???.

yes, it has something to do with the dmail system is set up like a thread, you can't delete permanently one half of a thread...along those lines.

Thanks threegardens. I wonder what happens if we fill it completely up. Or if there are space limitations

North Augusta, ON

No limitations---I've got about 25 pages in mine I think, some have oodles.

Thankyou threegardeners!

you're welcome.

I always wondered that as well. The only reason why I keep my old ones is in case I want to contact one of those people - it just seems faster and easier for me to do it that way.

I can't stand it; it's like an overflowing trash can that has never been emptied!!! I want it gone!!!

I just make a new folder and put everything in its own designated spot so it isn't always there. :)

I prefer to be more orderly and it drives me bonkers too. OTOH, I am glad it has its' own search so I can find a topic or person easily.

if I can figure out the folder way that would be kewl and thankyou so much for that suggestion mistygardmer.

Once your folder becomes terribly full, you might possibly try
emailing DG to ask if they would delete the folder for you. Be
sure to remember, of course, that with all they have to do, deleting
the trash folders can't take top priority.

I think many of us do use the trash file system and just pretend they
don't exist, but it can't hurt to ask DG to delete it if it bothers someone
that much.
