As sunset approached, the sandhill cranes returned to one of the marshes. There must have been several hundred of them.
DAILY PICS VOL. 34
What a nice trip that was Jane! I love the mallard showing off... but all of the great (big) birds are beautiful. New Mexico is such a wonderful place. I love to go there.

Very nice pics Jane; sounds like a great trip!
The mallard is cute and the flight shots are very nice!
I'll give some thought to those tree birds. :-)

kaperc ~ love the photos of your egret, especially the one with the reflection.
Jane ~ Beautiful photos, that must have been a terrific way to spend the day! I need to go hang out around our big pond, I'd love to get a photo of a heron. I know they're there, I see them flying over, coming from that direction.
What a treat to see your photos Jane! Especially the Sandhill Cranes. I would love to see those someday.
I'm wondering if your tree full of blackbirds could be red winged blackbirds. I know they like to hang out around marshes and shallow water. Especially if there is vegetation like cat tails around. I thought I could see a line on a couple of the black silhouttes that could be a shoulder epaulet.
Hi Sybil, we cross posted lol. Your blue jays sure are puffy! What is the temperature there today?
Below zero is all I can tell through the frosty window.
We have big snow coming in tomorrow also.
Here are the nasty details! http://www.accuweather.com/us/mn/brainerd/56401/city-weather-forecast.asp?&partner=brainerd
and for the snowfall:

...although, I have seen one forecast for 12" or more.
Yikes!
There was pretty big excitement around here last time we had a big snowfall. Clifford was unearthed when the snowblower went through the yard... I'm sure we will have plenty more excitement to look forward to in the next few days.
Heehee, so cute sybil!
Stay warm!
Life does have it's adorable moments! For all the shocking horrors it presents, still, there is a dog and its stuffed toy found. It is the ultimate joy!!!
Its still not winter-like at all here... It is perfect germination weather. Last year it was really cold by now. This weekend will be in the 70s.... I hope we do have some freezing weather though, some of my plants and trees require cold to grow properly. Especially the Cherries.

70 degrees - heaven!
Hi Guys,
*** NM Jane will be starting the new Daily Pics soon***
Very nice pics sybil!!
Those poor birdies do look cold!
I'm getting cold just looking at the pictures lol. Do you bag your own suet sybil? If you do, do you find that the birds prefer the home made kind? I always wondered about that but haven't tried doing any myself.
Okay guys we're onto the new thread!
Thanks everyone for the great pics!
