Cleaning concrete

(Zone 7a)

Hello, fellow DGers!

DH and I have an RV pad that has had an old car sitting on it for the last six months. The car has leaked motor oil on it and we need to know how to clean it off. We have a house appraisor coming in the next couple of weeks and that spot is very unsightly. The oil is clean and not the black icky stuff.

Your help is appreciated.

I've read that professionals use kitty litter. That won't help the stain, but it will get the actual oil up.

Yes, we do that in the garage.

Anybody think just an all-purpose oil cleanser would do the trick?

Try renting a pressure washer and ask at the rental co. if they have a product you can use to dissolve it. I've used pw's on oil stains before and it worked well. Water alone probably won't remove it all, but I'm sure they'll have some sort of product you can use.

Oddly enough, there's stuff called "concrete cleaner".

edited to add not the muriatic acid they use to clean new masonry, it's some non-poisonous stuff you use with a pressure washer.

I'll have to check that out. Thanks to all of you. My neighbor has a PW.
