And, last for today, "Wild at Heart". I love her fall colors and stripes. This is why I bought her, to begin with :)

Very pretty! I really like Wild at Heart, it's gorgeous!

Holy Guacamole, Cat!
I just saw your photo of Eva Paoloni with five blooms at once! I grew that variety for four years and didn't have five blooms TOTAL. What's your secret?
I humbly bow . .
;-)
Beautiful blooms, y'all! This is a great thread.

Barry,
I honestly don't know what my secret is. Possibly, neglect?
Since the weather is cooler, I have only been watering about every 3-4 days, on the super huge pots. (Eva is in a 20 gallon pot)
Watering every other day on the smaller pots.
Fertilized with "tomato" fertilizer, per Matt. Seems to be working. And, I shower them, whenever I water them.
Oh, and I use "Jungle Jim" potting soil.
So there you have it, my big secret is out :) (not much of a secret, lol)

The twenty gallon pot helps, no doubt. We have a 7-gallon limit here due to back trouble, and maybe Eva just likes a bigger root run.

Anyhow, you guys have inspired me to take the time to post a few recent blooms I thought were excellent. Our range was about 75-55 °F when these were taken; much colder now in Houston area.

This is the Hibiscus of the Year winner "Climax".

best wishes,
Barry

Another one I like, never marketed, but now released is "Haunted House." Appropriate to the season . .

From 2005 and still in trial here is this nice 8.5" bloom called "The Raven", bred from my namesake flower "Barry Schlueter".

I wonder how folks here like this one? This bloom is better than its average, I admit.

Um . . I should have said that the Raven gets its name from being so very dark sometimes, but the recent one I posted is not so very dark at all. New name needed maybe . .

This one is brand new first bloom seedling tentatively named "Overnight Sensation" and pretty impressive at 9". Hot weather will tell the tale, though. (Barry Schlueter x Fountain of Youth)

peace,

The Raven, with it's lighter colors is gorgeous. Don't most of the flowers darken with cooler temps? This one would be unusual if it gets lighter, no????

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

Beautiful pics, I just tried to order some more from hibiscusplace.com but he's cut them all back and put them all in bigger pots, we're still in discussion about me purchasing some more though LOL

I may have to wait till spring time.

Katy, TX

Barry , nice pictures I like them all but as you could guess Haunted House is my favorite and then of course Raven and I like the name myself don't think you should change it. Your up late?

Ditto to what Gene said. But honestly, I would buy any one of them in a heartbeat! They are outstandingly beautiful!

I really love Haunted House - it's so vibrant - Raven is really nice too - course I don't think you could produce anything but beauties! :)

Tulsa, OK

Woo Hoo - Gene - I just got my hibiscus seeds from Australia - I'm going to sow this weekend - wish me luck! Three of the seeds are old (crushed) but I have 29 more to play with. They included 5 Rosalind crosses and also Tigerama, Eye of The Tiger & Wendy Maree (have you hear/saw what Wendy M. looks like? - I have never heard of it) Anyway wish me luck!

Nederland, TX(Zone 9a)
