Victor, is that redwood like the ones they have in California, or a smaller version?
Fall Color 4
No Sue, it's not a true Sequoia. It's Golden Dawn Redwood - Metasequoia glyptostroboides 'Ogon'. It will get very large eventually - more than 75 ft high and about 25 ft wide, but that's nothing compared to the CA Redwoods. It's a beautiful tree and I highly recommend it if you have the room. It's a fast grower. Been growing about 3 feet per year.
Victor, in the picture of the pond with your chairs, what is the orange bush on the right next to the tall grass? I have a brick home and would like some orange fall color. Beautiful JM!
Fothergilla 'Mt. Airy' and it still has color!
Thanks. I have the perfect spot for it!
It's a wonderful, underused shrub. Gets pretty, lightly scented brush-shaped flowers in Spring. It holds its Fall color as long as any plant. Only Itea comes close. Might be a tie.
victor, all your pics are beautiful; you are quite an excellent photog.
in the pond pic, what is that leafy plant in the lower left corner. looks like something i should have.
Yes, Mother (Nature) knows best!!
Great pics.
mgarr, gorgeous pics. is that lake harvey? my hubby is from hazelton, and that's his guess.
Beautiful mgarr and crockny!
Thanks kudrick. That cool plant, an annual, is cardoon - in the artichoke family. Gets quite large in full sun. It's spiky, so be careful.
victor, will it overwinter in the house?
Thank you Victor -- I looked back at your pictures ... great color! What are those berries that have the yellow outer coating but end up red? Quite pretty!
Probably will, kudrick, though I never tried it.
Thanks crockny - those berries are from Oriental Bittersweet, a terribly invasive vine around here. Nice color though!
No it is moon lake. Harvey's lake is completely built up and there are year round houses there. Little natural beauty left.
very nice mgarr & crockny
