Threads taking forever to open

I don't know if this is the same problem that eyes had but for the last week or so when I try to open a thread to read it takes forever for it to open.Sometimes it downloads and opens immediately and I can read several threads without a problem and then it will get slow and the downloading of a thread can take sometimes up to 4 min.Very frustrating.I have defragmented and don't have a problem anywhere else.Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to speed things up?

Well, I have been experiencing overall slow connectivity problems - DG included, but also searches with Google, downloading my e-mail etc. I just chalked it up to either my PC getting too much "stuff" and running short on memory, or my ongoing, neverending ISDN issues with BellSouth. :(

Also a lot of servers are protecting themselves and those who use them from the worm that is going around. I know @home (cable) has been running there servers nonstop for about a week now, this means slower loading for me. Even when I am not online, the online light is blinking away. I have noticed also that netscape has been running a lot slower than internet explorer lately. So if you have both browsers and Netscape is being to slow try switching to IE
Another possibility is your Cache. Some people never empty it and each time you view something it is saved. Now in some instances this can make things run a lot smoother, but if you never clean it out, after a while it can make things much slower, especially if you view a lot of pictures, or large files. I do now it is very easy to clean out the cache for Netscape, here you can also clear the memory cache as well. Here's how:
1.On the top of your netscape page click on EDIT
2.then click preferences
3.click the + sign next to advanced
4.click cache
5.click the button clear memory cache, then ok it
6.click the clear disk cache button, then ok it
7.click ok and things may run a bit smoother
In internet explorer I believe it it is temporary internet files
1.right click on the internet explorer Icon on your desk top click properties
2 delete temporary internet files
or if you are in Ie now
1. click tools
2.click internet options
3.delete temporary internet files
Memory too can be a factor, if your computer has to much or not enough memory, when you do to many things at once or are bouncing here there and everywhere with out giving the computer a refreshing it get slower.

Holly, thanks for the tips. It's funny you wrote them - as soon as I posted my whine above, I went in and emptied all my temporary internet pages. It's set to empty every five days, but I went ahead and manually did it just to see if it would help. Great minds must think alike :)

Thanks for all the input. I emptied my temporary internet files and I have plenty of room on my computer. I have just been reading all the posts for the last hour with no problems and then it started to slowly download the threads again. This happened about the same time last night.If I go into another website everything opens very quickly but then I go back to DG and it opens slowly.I can't figure it out.
