Oh, I love the S. golden hahniis and the Echinopsis I spy at the back of the cacti & succulent table. Did they have lots of cacti & sansevierias at this nursery?
Plants of interest for the AV forum from trip
They had so many cactus but I didn't notice whether they had sansevierias or not.
Thanks Gail for posting, it was nice to have my coffee and look at beautiful plants this morning. I would love to visit Hill's, we don't have anything like that here and some of our bigger nurseries are either not stocking as many plants plants or are going out of business.
Now I'm off to look at the orchids and begonias you posted.
don't forget Susan to go to the tropical forum where I posted most of the pictures...........it was waaay too much fun for me!
Oh my goodness. What a fun time you must have had.Beatutiful pictures.Tables and tables of AV's and I love the jewel orchid. Thanks for taking us on your trip!
Lin, this is for you, my dear! I am going to show you how tidy and clean my front porch was about 6 weeks ago. Now it is wall to wall plants so you will have to wait until I get all my new plants hanging, etc. I moved the table and chairs to the back porch as there is no room for it until i get organized (LOL)
My son and his girlfriend on their way to the beach one morning about 5 weeks ago when they came to visit me.
Gail that is a beautiful plant.
good morning, makshi!
Aren't they cute plants!
I have something for you but you won't get it until at least after Thanksgiving and maybe this spring. I am headed for Corpus to see my out of town friends right now and then all the kids are coming home Thanksgiving. I need to start cooking now (LOL)
***This is called 'Baby Dress' and I got three of them at the convention. This was taken in my motel room so it is not a good pic.
Oh Gail ... I just found this post of yours! How could I have missed it? Guess I need to pay closer attention to the AV Forum and new posts, huh?
Wow! Wonderful plants .... I so wish I had a nursery like that near me! The Cyclamen and Primula (Primrose) are soooo gorgeous!!
I WANT A GREENHOUSE!!! Wow, what a SPECTACULAR place! A trip there would be like a trip to Disney World!
I WANT that Lipstick plant with the hot pink flowers! I have never seen one so beautiful!
OH ... before I forget - Good looking son you've got there too! He is one handsome fella! I bet the gal's don't leave him alone!
Love your pictures. I cant believe you left that pink lipstick. That must have been a lot of fun (overwelming even). I'll bet you came home with some real beauties. The picture of you and your son is very nice. You look happy to have him home.
Cindy
cflowr: That is Gessiegail's son and his girlfriend, but Mom (Gail) is just as pretty!
cflowr, no one has ever mistaken me for a girlfriend of my son's (LOL)
I am 65 carrying around about 25 lbs too much and happy as a lark. I can't even find incentive to take it off (LOL)
Well Gail, I am nearing 60 and carrying around about 20-25 extra pounds myself! I guess a lot of us are in the same boat. LOL. Doesn't bother me anymore ... I know I'm never gonna be that tall (shrinking a little more each year I think), thin gal I was at 25, or even 35! I'm happy with who I am and where I am right now and that's what matters most!
I just love getting older and feeling really comfortable in my own skin! I am happier than I have ever been with more blessings than I ever imagined in getting older. You are so right in saying 'I am happy with who I am and where I am right now'.
Doesn't it feel good to get older. My favorite expression is, "Well, I won't be the cutest at the party anyway", so what difference does it make if I never have a face lift, new fancy clothes or need to make an entrance.
My thoughts exactly! I am too chicken for a face lift. A few years ago I used to think if I wasn't such a "scardy cat" and had lots of extra money, I would get a face lift, and liposuction .... but I have never had any kind of surgery except oral surgery! I know a couple of women who have face lifts and they looked awesome afterwards but I am just so chicken. And .... I can't imagine spending that kind of money on re-arranging saggy skin! I would much rather be a little "pudgy" and spend any extra money I have on plants! LOL.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it isn't the thing for some folks to do. I think everyone should feel good about themselves and if that means a nip and tuck here and there by all means, they should do it. Some go overboard with plastic surgery though. I met a lady last year at the oral surgeon's office who felt she looked Beautiful ... she had a lot of face work done and said she had had many face lifts. I was so stunned when she said it had been 18 months since her last face lift .... she looked really "tight" almost to the point that she had a mask on. It stunned me the way she looked. She asked me if I was there for plastic surgery and I said no. She had a different doc than did my oral surgery thank goodness ... I would not have felt comfortable with my doc doing my oral work if he had been the one that made her look as she did. I think some just go way overboard with having "work" done. It doesn't last forever ... gravity is still going to take hold eventually! Just like age .... try as we might to stop it, we are growing older .... I just try to do it as gracefully as possible and that ain't easy when everything (face and other parts) are heading south - so I just have to laugh ... can't worry about stuff like extra pounds and wrinkles, or saggy, baggy skin.
Oh, and it's so nice that I don't have to work anymore ... no dresses, suits, high heels, or ...... panty hose!
Just checking in...WEll, I guess I don't have to apologize for my mistake, since it seems like a complement. I thought you looked super young. Love your idea of combing the bromeliads-beautiful picture. And never heard of an orchid jewell plant. It's pretty too.
Thanks again for the photo show.
Cindy
cflowr, I love it you thought that was me!! My son will be 36 next birthday (LOL)
Don't we all love that orchid jewell plant!
Wow Gail, what a cute son! He must get his looks from you as you are such a BEAUTIFUL person :)
His girlfriend is awful cute too. She looks like she is a super nice person also as she has a very warm smile :)
I LOVE your porch, can I just put a sleeping bag on the floor and sleep out there? That would be awesome!
What a wonderful trip you had, LOVE all your pictures :)
Kimber
Kim, I hate to tell you but that was the front porch before I went plant crazy again. Now the table and chairs won't even fit on the porch! The grandchildren are waiting to get big enough to sleep on cots out there, but so far they are not brave enough unless I sleep with them(LOL)
Looks like I missed yet another excellent thread!! WOW!! Gail sure looks like you had a great trip. You certainly run across some amazing plants in your travels..I sure do enjoy the pics...Some of those plants are HUGE..LOL..never could fit them in my house thats for sure....You sure have a Good Looking Son.He has kind sweet eyes just like his mama : )
nancy (blushing) as he is not like me at all. He gets along with everyone in the world and doesn't know how to be mean. On the other hand, he has a mama who is capable of being sweet, but she has been known to explode! (LOL)
