I wanted to post a few pics that you might like to see which I know people on the AV forum like to grow.
Let's start with big streptocarpella baskets from Hill Country African Violet Nursery on I 10 outside of Boerne, Texas.

How many of us have hanging baskets of episcia this size? Not me for sure!

All of these pics will be from Hill Country African Violet Nursery until I tell you that the pics are changing to Green Gate Nursery.
I should have put these first...........this is just entering the nursery before i went into the greenhouses.
They were tables and tables of cyclamen in every color.

another cool weather plant like the cyclamen. I call these primroses but i don't know the botanical name.
Dianthus, pansies, petunias and snapdragon to carry us through the winter months with bloom.

Here were some boxes up streps for the convention.
This is his african violet tables in the greenhouse. I took 171 pictures while i was gone. If I had tried to get a pic of every table, etc i wouldn't have been able to even post that many pics.
He (Ken Froesbe) sells all his avs (both mini and standard starter plants like these for 6.50)
I forgot to take pictures in the building where he has all his minis. He has more minis than he does standards.
Every single plant is wicked on these big tables.
Nice job of growing episcias he does.
More episcias and i don't think i took very many pictures of these. He had an entire tray full of Suomi with the yellow blooms.
I did find a pic with some Suomi episcias afterall!
I found a pic that shows you the greenhouse but I was standing only half way down the length of the greenhouse when i took this pic.

I wished for everything they grow but I had limited my hunt on this trip to only hoyas, streps, avs and begonias. Then i realized I had to scrap the idea of begonias as my little Honda Element wasn't going to hold anymore plants.
This red was the brightest and biggest blooms ever!

I will be back later to show you Green Gate goodies. I also posted on the orchid forum the big orchid greenhouse. I don't think the people who grow orchids were interested in the pics but you might enjoy. They were a couple of nice orchid people who did post a nice note.

Oh Gail- OMG OMG OMG! It would have been bad for me to go there is all I can say! And there is NO WAY I could have passed up that hot pink Lipstick! (pink being my fave color) I have never seen that one nor have I ever seen a full basket Episcia other than pics. I live in the WRONG part of Texas.... Thank you so much for letting me share your experience through your pics!
OMG was what I was saying each time we stopped at a good nursery (LOL)
How could you decide which plants to bring home with so many choices? That huge basket of episcia is beautiful! I've never seen one that large either.
I just kept my concentration going of saying, "hoyas, avs and streps" as I looked (LOL)
I was with some friends from out of town all day but will post new pics of the other nursery tomorrow.

I don't believe I have ever seen a prettier colored syngonium than the ones they had
just drool over this wall of staghorn ferns and bromeliads
They had so many outstanding Crown of Thorn plants and colors
nothing prettier than a cactus in bloom
Even though I posted this on the hoya october thread, I have to show you one I brought home. She has 8 kinds of hoyas in one basket with fragrant blooms all over.
This is the largest basket of Orchid Jewel or jewel orchid? I have seen
i can hardly wait to combine bromeliads in one basket!
