Can't believe where I found 'burlap'..am teaching a Victorian Santa 1 day workshop and needed burlap for the santa bags which we do a floral arrangement in and good old 'Walmart' carried it...

Hobby Lobby has it too...you can go on line and print off a coupon for a percentage off the price too.

Depending on what you need, you might also check with the local
farm stores. Our local Atwoods carries burlap coffee bean bags for
as low as 89 cents sometimes, in HUGE piles.

Another idea is JoAnn Fabrics. I don't know how their prices would compare though. I bought mine, for craft projects, at Wal-Mart.

I've often wondered why we don't see burlap around as often as we used to. It used to be everywhere. The other day on TV I heard someone say something similar, then they said it's made from hemp. I couldn't help but laugh and wonder if that's why we don't see much of it anymore....the relationship between hemp and marijuana. I wonder if some stupid kids somewhere went out and tried smoking burlap bags? Who knows, but worth a giggle if you picture it and think about it!

I was drinking a coffee, reading your message and coughed up..should buy burlap to cover coffee spots from laughing...so funny...

Hey, it's gotta beat smoking corn silk any day, right? Just think of those bored kids down on the farm learning that burlap is made from hemp. It's gotta enter into a kid's head, doesn't it?

Sheri,

HD carries burlap in rolls in the Garden center. At least "in season" they do. Don't know the length of the rolls right off the bat, but I bet they are 25' or more long and about 3' wide.

If you have a HD close by, go check--or call or go on line and see. (Homedepot.com) . How about e-bay?

Betty,

One source of burlap bags could be any place or Garden center that sells the concrete small stools (like HD in the summer)--or any other concrete items, like bird baths. They all come "cushioned" with burlap bags between all the pieces.
I think they are old coffee bags for S. America, but would be perfect for your Santas--you won't have to make them!
