I better go and vote for the photos. I finally submitted some so I may as well take a look at the competition! Tomorrow I have the afternoon off. I must go outside and do my dance to stave off the rain. So far it's working.
Green Elephant Swap Trade Lists & Confirmed Trades
Pixy - can you please stay out there through Monday sunset? I need to finish a few things and get the worms into their new homes. A 3-day dry weekend would be marvelous at this time of year. I'm sure we'd all appreciate your great efforts. Besides, the faeries will oblige you...
Have you given your fairies any special offerings lately? This might be a good time for a fairy treat.
I think one of them might be visiting me, actually. Things have been going very well in the garden ever since I brought the fern home and planted it. I'll let her hitch a ride home the next time I head north. Do you think she could find her way back to your house from I-5?
Silly susy, don't you know that fairies travel with the speed of thought?? All she has to do is think about my garden and she is there! Then she can get back to yours in the blink of an eye.
I have a new gardenwall dedicated to the fairies. It's a cement wall with impressions of leaves and flowers in it, then I added faces that I made out of cement. I made molds out of some of the little porcelain gnomes I have, plus an old Madonna statue from the 1950's. The wall is dedicated to the fairies. I'll have to take a couple of photos tomorrow.
Hmm, no I guess I didn't know that. Well, then I feel doubly lucky that I have one visiting! I hope she's happy. Maybe she's visiting with the local Anna's hummingbird.
That wall sounds really interesting! I'm very interested in seeing pictures. I'm supposed to be making a glass face in a fused glass workshop I've been taking. I'm contemplating making a green man, but it may be a bit too complex for a three-hour class session and my glass cutting skills.
Wow, Susan, a fused glass workshop?#$> You must post pictures of your creation(s). You'll end up with some very cool garden art, I'm sure.
Pixy - I MUST see your garden wall. It sounds fabulous.
Hi Kathy, Nahh, I just kind of dabble in it. I"m sure Pixy's wall will be much cooler than my coasters!
I would totally love to do fused glass! There is so much cool stuff to be done with that medium. Think of the things you can make to hang from your trees with the sunlight shining through them! No, I did not make this but I could not resist buying it at the Portland market last summer. I love the way the sun shines through it and it picks up the color of the lily. It's fused glass. Go for it, Susybell!
i'll post some photos of the wall tomorrow. It is a good one. I'm liking it a lot.
Pixy's wall is fabulous, I got to slober on it after the plant swap. I want one! She is so artistic, I'm hoping it will rub off on me :0)
I know Pixy's fairies come visit me, all the plants she gave me are doing very well.
And I got Murmur's cold. How can you get a cold on the web? just a funny
Cant afford to be sick, no time
Sorry about your cold! There is a persistent virus floating through our office now: lasts a week, but maybe you have a kinder, gentler strain. It's that time of year....
That glass is gorgeous! I'm not artsy at all, but I do like the looks of that fused piece and would love to see Pixy's wall.
pooch and katie,
sorry i missed you two at the swap. i saw you pooch, but was busy giving away jerusalem artichokes to newbies! :) my friend karin went to see your demo of dahlia splitting though and learned a lot.
see you all in march!
Yes, jburesh. Let's make sure we meet in person (and I'll try to find something to trade you for a jerusalem arthicoke!).
JB, I was shocked to learn you'd been there as I was pulling out. Those were 2 hours that went way too fast! Let's lobby for 3 hours~! I'll start a people's initiative if I have to. Jim is a reasonable guy....
I did enjoy some splendid Jerusalem Artichoke soup two years ago from one of the Seattle gardeners present at the Green Elephant. I dont' need any more roots to dig- I'm overrun with them now!
Been out in the garden most of the day. Plant confession: today I bought 5 clematis, all half price. I've been outside planting them everywhere.

sorry to hear about your cold, Tilllysrat. Go for the Airborne 3 times a day. It definitely helps a lot!
The who? please explaine. so DH can go get me some. please. I,m having trouble seeing the keyboard my eyes feel like they sunk in my head.
Airborne is a brand of tablets that you can get in the vitamins section of any pharmacy or grocery store. It's essentially a "supershot" of vitamins and minerals that will give your immune system a boost and help you fight off infection. I know people who take it daily. Some take it when the travel or when they're stressed.
It's worth a shot . . .

I'll have to try that stuff. I am exposed to 20 little germ factories (children) every day, and I caught the nasty cough that was going around last week. I've been living on throat lozenges to make it through the day. Of course I haven't been resting when I get home, rather going outside in the waning daylight to do battle with the nettle patch that grew up around my compost pile.
It's good stuff and was created, I understand, by a teacher - so he/she has firsthand knowledge of working around kids everyday and the stuff you can catch.
When I think I feel a cold coming on, I take it immediately. I think it helps. And you don't have to worry about overdoing it, which is nice. You can load up, if you want to.
Absolutely! As soon as I feel anything coming on, I start taking it three times a day. It never fails to soften the blow of whatever I've caught, if not stop it altogether. I swear by it, too, and always take it while traveling, especially on an airplane. I actually even like the flavor. Walmart sells their own brand called Walborne and it's not too bad. I like the orange flavor best and serve it on ice.
In emergencies, a Jamba Juice Cold Buster with extra immunity has worked for me, too. Kind of spendy, but I've never missed a day sick after downing one of those when I was starting to get sick.
There are folks that swear by Emer-gen-c, too. I've found it helpful but not as potent. I drink it as a vitamin supplement, especially now that they have the one with calcium.
Gotta love it . . . ROFLMAO . . . Walborne. Ha ha ha ha haha.
Love Jamba Juice - I wish there was one closer to me . . .
Basically, it's great fresh juice combinations that you can add nutrients boosts to.

I think the nearest one to you is in the Tacoma Mall.
Pixy,
Skip the mall, there is one by the Costco that is a mile from my house. We can get a juice and then go to just down the street to Pietra Garden Arts and look at thier display garden/landscape. They have great fountains and concrete statues/sculptures.
Rachie - I bet you've got a song for Jamba Juice, and if you don't - you'll make one up on the fly!
Can't wait to hear it!
O.K. Katye start playing the bongo's for me, here goes....
Bamba, bamba me want some Jamba!
Jamba juice, (pause) jamba juice!!
Me need some healthy Jamba Juice!
Pink ones, green ones, and yellow too,

Sassy is beautiful! She's just trying to help keep your mind off your cold!
Mary, yes, I think so. Can't hurt!!
