Cocoa,
My arm is kind of sore....... I would also like your Imperata cylindrica 'Rubra', Japanese Blood Grass if it is still available. I will put you down for two verbena and two foxglove.

I gave in and went to Lowe's (I'm blaming Pixy she told me about the sale, I tried to control myself but I finally gave in to the urge.) It is a great sale!

I bought eight pansies .25 each. Three mum's in 2.5 gallon pots for $1 each and they are still blooming! A varigated canna lily for $3 usually $17. The rest of the stuff was 50% off. I got two magnolia trees, geum, heuchera, barberry, salvia black and blue, spirea and sage. Believe it or not I came home and got them all planted except for one of the magnolia's which I will plant tomorrow.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

OOOh, Carla -

Can I have your salvia leucantha?

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

Hi Rachierabbit, I will try to get out and see if I can dig another small division...it is a tough bugger....I will let you know this afternoon!

Hi Katie59, So sorry....it is gone, I could root another next spring for you if you would like?

I think I will throw on my garden clothes and go to Lowes today!!!! I need some bargains...lol

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Rachel -

I dug you three salmon berry plants today, so you can start with a small stand. They will be leafless for the winter, but will be working their way around the yard, so just keep an eye on the perimeter with them. If you prune them hard every year, they do form a nice stand. I haven't really noticed whether the birds like them in summer, but in the winter, the stand is a nice place for the juncos and sparrows and chickadees to hang out safely.

Melissa and Susan -

I got you a couple of good clumps of geum - enough that you should be able to divide it into a few plugs.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Katie,
I will keep a close eye on those naghty little berries :0) I have a small potted Hazelnut start for you and a large one that I dug today, it's about 3 feet tall after being pruned. It's in a bag with some dirt, so pretty much bareroot. See you in the a.m. Rachel

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

kathy - check your email!

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

Rachierabbit...forgot to let you know I got you a bloodgrass dug. See you tomorrow!

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Cocoa-
Thank you soooo much! Rachel

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh my!! Up much too late drinking wine and talking with the neighbor. See you all tomorro!!

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Katie-
Should we bring you some asprin? heehehehe :0)

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

Rachie...You're welcome!

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

See you all as soon as I can get there! I'm running out the door now! (Did I ever mention I'm NOT a morning person?) I'm driving a silver Escape today.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Actually, doing okay. Thanks, Rachel - except that I slept with four dogs and a cat - there was no rolling over or I'd lose my place . . .

It was great to meet everyone today and put faces to names! I was feeling my brain go a little haywire, getting Gw people confused with DG people, etc. I'm just glad that I managed to find all of the plants that I had tagged for people. It was a little touch and go with the Jogasaki hydrangea I had tagged for Kathy. How could I not see that plant? It was right in front of me! Well, the entire thing was a little overwhleming. So many conversations at one time, so many distractions. Still, what a fun time meeting everyone and trading plants!

By the way, Susybell, you couldn't have picked a better time to show up! I was fighting to hold onto that asplenium for you. One of the people there was trying to negotiate for that fern, thinking you were not going to come. I had just explained to her that you were driving quite a long way up from Vancouver and I knew you would be there. Just then you walked up, with perfect timing! Awesome! I am afraid she was a bit rude, such was her disappointment at not getting the plant (even though I told her to email me and we could arrange a trade in the future). I, however, was thrilled to see you!
I forgot to tell you that the Shinonomei hydrangea is very special. I got that hydrangea at Heronswood, just 2 weeks before it was abruptly closed. I took cuttings as soon as I got it home and you have one of the rooted cuttings from it. So you have one of the last bits of plant material sold at the famous Heronswood. I know it will do beautifully for you and you will love it. It needs partial shade and makes a good addition to a border with hostas, pulmonarias and other shade loving plants. You will love the blooms on it.

Many thanks to everyone for the great trades and good conversation! See you at the next swap in the spring!

Okay, for those who were interested in how Rachel and I spend all of our available money on plants, here is the link to the wholesale coop website:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BnPCo-opBuying/

Tell Pam (woodthrush) that Pixydish and Rachel sent you. She is our plant pimp, and Im' not kidding. just now they are doing a second coop for special amaryllis bulbs from Van Englan bulb and the ones I just received from the first coop were absolutely huge. Unbelievable.

Three warnings:
Hold onto your wallets.
The ordering, etc can be a bit confusing at first because there is a lot of chatter and activity on the board as well as ordering. There is an FAQ in the files section where everything is explained. Rachel and I will be your guides if you decide to join. There is no required order amount for anyone, only required numbers of plants sold per each vendor.

We will be having large coops from Terra Nova plants, Walter's Gardens, and Bluestone perennials for spring. Likely we will order long before spring because people sell out. If you like hostas, you better join because there are plenty of hostaholics on the thread and Pam is one of them. I bought probably 60 different hosta varieties this year. Did I need them? You be the judge!

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

It was a very good day - from start to end. And - it did not rain!

I just came in about 45 minutes ago from filling & carting 17 very wonderful wheelbarrows full of leaves! Delivered & chopped! what a blessing that was...
And possibly more next weekend. HaPpY dAnCe!!!!!
Next episode: In search of the ever popular: Fresh Hot Manure...

Just wanted to let you know that it WAS great to meet you all & be able to put faces to the names, too. I went today mainly to leave plants & not bring anything but the Brug cutting back - success!

Next spring i hope to have started different cuttings, and I am considering one of those bubblers...
I have been collecting plants for about 20 years, so I have lots of things that won't mind being whacked on. However, my main passions are shrubs & clematis.
That being said, I spoke with Rachie about rooting cuttings of my Julia Phelps Ceanothus. If anyone else is interested, please let me know. I know for sure that I will also have root divisions (large) of Phygelius 'devils tears', and cuttings from an ultra-fragrant mock orange that is about 55 years old. As I tinker out there, I will see what else I can start or dig, and post a list. Please let me know if there is something specific in the shrub department you are looking for. If I don't have it, I may know where to get it.
Stay warm & keep digits crossed for several NO-RAIN weekends, please, and thank you! Kate

PS - Pixy, thank you so much! I will link & follow directions, always keeping one hand on the wallet, the other shielding my eyes.....

Issaquah, WA(Zone 7a)

I agree: this was one of the best Green Elephants yet in terms of turnout. My only regret was that I didn't get to meet Susybell, and barely met Pixy and Rachie Rabbit on the way out. It was wonderful to meet Carla (CocoaJuno) and Katye but I'm going to get you mixed up- I just know it! Too much time at the dahlia table and too much babbling therein.

Katie59- how'd the load of barn poo take the ride home? You will rest well after unloading that. Have fun composting!

Don't you think we should lobby Jim for 3 hours instead of the impossible 2 hoursthat fly by so quickly? I do.

Definitely! Three hours would be much better. More time for chatting! Sorry we had to run. We had to go to Thane's house to dig out a large Yaku rhododendron I was taking off his hands. He had two, we could haul only one. I may need to go back for the other one because I believe the one I have is going to be lonely. Thank goodness for Rachel and her really big man truck! It pulls large plants out of the ground easily!

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

It was a delight meeting all of my DG buddies! Thanks for all of the great plants!

Katye- Please add me to your list for a cutting of "devil's tears" phygelius and the mock orange :0)

Poochella- I think 3 hours is definetly needed.

FYI- The wholesale coop is addictive, on that account come and join us!!!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Hey everybody - it was soo great to meet everybody that I did and I'm disapppointed that there were a few people that I didn't get to meet. I may have seen you, but didn't realize that you were a fellow DGer that I've talked to. Jburesh comes to mind - sorry that I didn't FIND you. Now that we know the layout of the lot, we'll have to do some goo signage and maybe have target the same location for the spring exchange.

I'm inspired to get things ready for the spring swap now. Thank you all for your generosity. I have my loot all sequestered away and will spend tomorrow outside all day digging, planting and planting, rain or shine (although I may ask the faeries for dry weather tonight. Can't hurt. Hee hee).

Thank you, Pooch, for the wonderful warm, wet goat manure. Made it back safely without losing any of the load and will start early tomorrow turning it into my compost. My plants will be so happy in the spring. I'm still figuring out which corner of the yard I'll designate as Frosty's.

And the coop sounds excitingly dangerous. Thank you for sharing, Pixy and Rachel. I'm going to have a look . . .

Heh heh heh. Rachel, she is 'going to have a look'.......!!

Hey, I didn't know that Poochella was giving away warm wet goat manure! No fair!
