Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Mitch do you have any information on the pump you gave me. It needs a new impeller.
The spline is broken off.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

DID SOMEBODY SAY pah-ty?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

sure nough did I hear it (read it) myself loud and clear ROFL...

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

er, uh, er, uh. Upon backing up the post, I believe this is sometime in the Spring.
uh,er,uh,er. Feeling kind of sheepish. So funny. Say "pahty" and everybody comes up in a hurry. Who knows. Don't have such a big house so it is hard to get very many in here. Better when the weather is nice enough to take advantage of the deck and lower patio. er, uh, er, uh...seems I have gotten myself into a situation...nothing new. er, uh, er, uh

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Sorry but I dont - it was given to me this Spring out of a ladies garden in Ovilia and I have never used it. She claimed when I cleaned it out it was costly.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

LOL I knew you would come up with something to say LouC....I would offer my yard but no one lives close to me and I have no deck or patio ...just sand clay and trees..OH by the way hubby found persimmons on a couple trees by the fence yesterday ..he was smart enough not to cut them down until I got home and he asked what they were and I told him so he did not cut them...he is learning LOL

LouC, that drive to the country isn't looking too bad now, huh?lol

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Spring sounds very nice and maybe we could have it at a park, sort of like a roundup with no plants, what do you think?

I was thinking, I would love to have a get together in the Spring. Our town hold a Blooming Festival with participating nurseries and a guest speaker (past two years Niel Sperry). I live about two miles from the festivities. People could check out the sales then meet at my house for food and chat fest. We are 70 miles east of Dallas, is this too far for most people?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sounds interesting Lynea, but it would be a bit far for a lot of folks; but I will be retired at the end of May!!! Sounds like a fun road trip!!

I think it is a fun thing to get together in small groups and be able to interact with one another. Debnes, Josephine, Anna & a friend of hers, and I visited a couple of places in Arlington and had a picnic lunch. We had a great day of beautiful weather and some neat pictures too. I don't think I even spoke two times with them at the RU, we are all too busy.

Maybe a larger group could go on a nursery tour this spring, or somewhere like the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, bring a sack lunch and make a day of it. I love to walk through a park with people like Josephine that know so much about plants.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

cocoa, let me know when that thing comes around. dawnintx couldn't come to the round up but i am sure she would be available for this. evil laughter!!!!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey, guys! Don't count me out of the things that happen in N Tx!!!
I am home grown & have to do see my folks regularly since they are in their 80's !!!
I'm game for a Dec thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LMK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Grand Saline ain't that far fr Magnolia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:~)

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

hhhhhuuummmm. I'm feeling bad. Like I told my kids we would have a party and then cancelled. Warm weather I can put you all over the place. Have the neighborhood picnic in my backyard every May with over 100. We have a wonderful visit. Even the group at the RU couldn't all get inside without standing elbow to elbow and some maybe in the bedrooms and bathrooms. hahahaha.
Now I'm really wanting to see everybody. How fantastic that all we have to do is drop a hint of a get together and we are ready to go. Hearts of gold...yep, that's what it is. You've all got Hearts of Gold.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Ted.....maybe put a picture of the pump on the Water Gardens forum and see if anyone there knows the brand etc.

Hope you got your sides of the pond rebuilt and fish back in before the bad weather hit.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Let me see what I can work on . . . we might do this yet.

I am were ever the good friends and food are, just lmk. lol

Mamajack, Smockette, i'm glad to hear it's not too far. I'll try to start a new thread within the next few days and see if we can get more interest from other East Texans for a Spring get together. I've meet a lot here at DG.

Smockette, your Mother would have to come too. She is so sweet. Tell her I said "HI":0)

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

I want to do everything that was mentioned!! Y'all should also consider coming down to the park in Waxahachie. There are some enormous trees there! It's an old park.

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

I was thinking of inviting people to my house in the spring to help me prune the roses...we could work for a bit, and then break to eat chili or beef stew....who is interested in a work party?

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh now that's different. All work parties welcome anytime. hahaha

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Well IF it is work y'all are lookin to do why wait till spring??? *evil laugh*- not really evil
I have plenty of room outside and it ain't cold out (ok well not to me) and there is a ton of bamboo roots out back that need to be dug up somehow so that area can be planted once the ground is worked...ROFL
and yes there can be food too and PIE LOL

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

count me in melva. dare i even say this but is it possible to trade work weekends with interested parties?

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Y'all just might have something here! Count me in!

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

I was hoping I could count on you, T.J.! and Mamajack, thank you....
and having until spring, to clean the house....it just might work.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Melva, I'm going to be Denton on the 15th for a graduation @ N Texas.

Hey Melva. If it works out at work, I'm in!

I talked with the chamber of commerce today to find out details about the Blooming Festival. Next year it is on March 28th. She (Lisa, a friend) also said that we could use the Chamber Pavillion to meet during the festival. That is right next door to the plant vendors area. They would supply us with tables and chairs and our own parking area normally closed off during the festival. Best yet, at no charge. The only thing we wouldn't be able to do is cook out. Food vendors will be set up, and obviously they would prefer it if we used them. I have a few things to get done today, but will start a new thread tonight to see if there is any East Texas interest...if people what to trade or just get together, etc.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey, don't forget that Sylvia needs a water feature built!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Melva, if i am available that weekend I will be very happy to come and help.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cocoa, the same goes for your plan, it sounds very nice.
Josephine.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Sylvia - where is she going to put a water feature? With all the trees roots in there... get ready for a long hard dig! LMK when and I will try to help.

Santa Fe, TX(Zone 9b)

Above ground.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I have a "water feature" that needs to go away! I had no idea that well drillers can create a mudslide. This was my biggest iris bed. It is downhill from the well site but at least 60 feet away. It is now nearly completely covered in a foot or more of wet muck. The stuff is hardening around the edges and turning into something like cement. The well is 570 feet deep, so there's a whole lot of this stuff. The slide is about 50 long and 20 feet wide. I need Ted's buckets! lol This is going to be tractor and front-end loader work.

Here's a photo of the same area taken a couple of years ago. This year the bed was grown up in grasses, so I am sure the drillers thought it was an uncleared area.

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Darn Pat that would make me mad. Sure was pretty.
Sheila yesterday I finally got the fish back in the pond. Still a lot of work to do but now no rush to do it. LOL

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh Pat, I am so sorry, were you able to recover any of the iris?

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I have not been able to try to salvage any irises yet, Josephine, as the stuff is just now hardening enough to walk on. I am hoping I can take it off in chunks by hand where the irises are. Even if the tops are gone, the rhizomes may be okay once they are uncovered. The mudslide also covers a lot of area that was uncleared, and that part we can take off with the tractor.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

You know it seems to me that the people drilling the well should have been aware that this would happen. They could have made a temporary dam and diverted the mud to another area.

I believe I would hold them responsible for the clean up and replacement. They certainly charge enough money to drill the wells.

If you don't get the mud off of the plants soon, I think they will suffocate from lack of oxygen. I am so sorry that you are going through this. It does seem like a rather unpleasant experience.

Charlene

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

smockette...do you mean the 15th of November?

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Pat, I am so sorry! I hope you can get your irises out.

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Lynea, I might be able to do the Bloom Festival too. Sounds like fun. All you had to do was say "plant vendors". LOL And It would be a good chance to buy a few chocolate goodies if possible. :)

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

I have been chosen to collect and bag seeds for the spring fling we the master gardeners put on each year.

So any seeds you want to get rid of I would like to have. They will be given away to the public as they register at the desk.

Clean out last years and give them a new home to bless someone.

Ted
