Enjoy.
Sylvain.

I wanted to include a picture but I wasn't allowed to that when I started this new thread. Let's try again.

Nice fish Sylvain, do you know what it is? Don't think I have seen a fish with a tail like that before...

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Tg is down to #26 on the newletter today. What happened to all of our chatter?

I'm still yacky as ever. Thanks Sylvain.

Delray Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

I don't know about that fish's name. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will come forward and offer an ID. They are quite common. This one was photographed at Half Moon Cay (Bahamas, Hollland America's private island). I have been followed and surrounded by about a hundred of those in Xe-La (Mexico). I would turn left and the whole school would turn left. I would stop and they would stop. It lasted a good quarter of an hour and then, in a flash, they were gone as fast as their little fins could propell them. That's when I wondered what else was swimming with us.

I'm a big guy and I always tell everyone about the hot ready-to-ear roasted chickens you find in every supermarket. When faced with a dozen of those, what do you do? You try find the plumpest, biggest one because they're all the same price. Well, in a crowd of people, I'm ALWAYS the plumpest, biggest guy. Snorkel with me and you'll never have to worry about sharks again.

Sylvain.

Well Sylvain, thanks for starting this. I know that ole blabbermouth me has been tied up with other than computer duties for a week or so....Pep's got the Halloween stuff at the garden, Carol is busy either on her way to NZ or getting ready, Randy et al have those sales they were going to....guess life is just inteferring with our fun!

Here's a shot off Shell Island, just some little beauties swimming around the cool coral heads.

I like the little guy in the middle.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Oooh, neat pics.

Got a cat nap when I got home so I am a bit more awake now. Hopefully tomorrow I can actually catch the jokes at work. lol One guy was telling me a joke first thing this morning and I was like huh? I am asleep, tell me later!! lol

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

night, night

Hillsborough , NC(Zone 7a)

LOL Sylvain, You are the guy I would want to snorkle with, not because you are a larger, but because all your pictures of yourself have such a happy, smiling face!

Delray Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

It's nice to see so many people rejoining the thread. If you build it, they will come.

My friend Denis had a picture of me in that school of fish. I wonder if he still has it. I'll check with him. I love humour, laughter, fun, silliness and good-natured practical jokes. I love life and live each day to the fullest as if it were my last one. Sleep is a waste of time for me.

You like my smile, Mom? Do you really? That is so nice. Here's another one just for you, sporting a kukui nut lei I made myself.

Take care, all.
Sylvain.

We all like your smile Sylvain!

The guys went pretty deep off Shell Island, this shot is almost too dark, but shows how the coral field just goes on and on...this is branching or staghorn coral...the coral in the front of the pic is common columnar coral.

The wonders of this world never cease. Thank you, Shari, for always giving us yet another treasure.

And for the birthday girl, some anemonefish swimming around a bluespot anemone....it was quite deep so pardon the darkness...sometimes one strobe is not enough, as John's beautiful pictures show us - two work better. Speaking of John, someone else should try to persuade him to come back. He's probably sick of me bugging him! Ha ha.

Thank you very much. I would be so scared to that far under and in the dark.

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

After you get over the initial moment of claustrophobia, it is actually very peaceful and relaxing...all you hear is your own breathing, and all around you is beauty and life...very zen. Here is another just for you Christi.

Christi, I'm sorry, did I miss your birthday? Hope it was a good one.
I love your coral photos, Shari, and they are nice and relaxing on my eyes tonight.

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

As they are meant to be...a reflection of the serenity we feel when in the water....

This was taken in about 40 ft. at a place called Victor Buoy...just a pretty little scene:

Beautiful. Serenity of the womb of mother nature.

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

This is a shot of the rain hitting the water...as you can see by the fish, it was taken looking up at the surface. This is the picture I am keeping in my thoughts for California...rain and lots of water. (but not so much that it causes landslides! )....soft, easy -on -the -eyes- blue to sooth the ash and smoke from your vision.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Have never seen rain on the underside of water. True about California. Can hardly stand to watch the news.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Great shots! Keep them coming! :0)

Quoting:
blue to sooth the ash and smoke from your vision

It's working, it's working! :-)

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

More of Victor Buoy to combat the smoke and ash. Think cool waters caressing your cares away....floating on a sea of tranquility, far from the conflagration, away from care...if even for a moment....relax....breath deeply of the tropical scents....relax....

To quote my favorite Kalikina..."our prayers are with you".

I don't know how to post the links but you who love the underwater gardens have got to see the pictures posted by deviant_designer and another woman from a show in San Francisco. Follow the thread started by dd in March. Some of the pictures are on her thread and some are at her blog (also for march, 2007). Amazing. Really.

Thanks, Katie. Everything DD does is magic.

mulege, Mexico

This is some else's work. But I agree with you about dd's work. I like that she is also very positive about others' work that she likes.

Just stopped by Daves Garden to have a sniff at how things are going....interesting to see how things have worked out....must say, the last underwater thread started didn't go very far....not sure why, I have an idea though, maybe those who take over threads, should follow them through to the end. Maybe that is the end...not sure....Shari, as we all know, is responsible for getting the entire Tropical Forum going in the first place and is to be commended..anyway, glad to see that so many others have picked up the pace with all the other threads in tropical gardening. Some folks like me should just sit back and keep quiet. I am novice in so many areas. For now, Enjoy the Time you share this Thanksgiving....just another day in paradise for us.....yeah right...paradise.

Hillsborough , NC(Zone 7a)

Aloha John, we have missed you! Hope you don't "keep quiet" and come back, and Happy Thanksgiving...

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Welcome back, Cooter. Don't think I spelled that right. The tv show of the 70's...you know...with John Travolta...

Oh well, Welcome John. We have all missed your wit and fantastic pictures. I am feeling withdrawal pains for life under the sea. Even up in the middle of the night...just can't seem to drift off. Waiting for your photos.............

West Bay, Cayman Islands(Zone 11)

Good to see you too!! Getting back on track now finally....thumb is about 80% and feeling good enough,,,,

I see that the forum list has grown with lots of new threads, congratulations to everyone that contributes. I have read just a small bit since coming by here again...going in all kinds of directions which is good. lots of new folks stopping by and commenting on a wide variety of things....

Okay, Christi...here ya go....sorry to have kept you awake for so long....I will try and do better from now on...

Almost forgot, the fish that started this new thread is a Yellowtail Snapper....abundant throughout Caribbean waters...I see that no one had identified it....

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Great way to start the day. When you came upon this wonderful creature did you just about die. I would be so excited I would forget to take the picture. How big is this guy?

Glad your hand is better. Have you been able to dive yet? Not necessarily with a camera but just get out there and go? Lots of questions to catch up with you.
We would be willing to see dozens of pictures inorder to catch up. It is so unseemly to beg...but here goes...please, pretty please. More than usual I personally need the serenity of the sea. I do believe I have become addicted.

You should pack some bags and come see for yourself Christi....bring Mike along...he and I can talk plates.....the tin kind!! I have some Silversides to post tonight....I am at work now so you will have to wait...Do a google search on Silversides and you will have an idea of what you will see later.....patience grasshopper...

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

A seahorse! Great, John. I guess it's the fact they look so much like terrestrial horses that they are so interesting.

West Bay, Cayman Islands(Zone 11)

I will post this Silverside shot for Christi as promised...I can already tell this thread is doomed....just a personal observation.....let me know if i should continue....the person that started this particular thread hasn't posted back here in a while....maybe he's stuck in some line on a cruise ship....how 'bout it sylvain???
