Y'all have to check this out. DH works with a guy who has a tree camera in the PA National Forest (Kinzua to be exact). It took some pics not too long ago of some kind of animal that no one can seem to identify. The pics have been sent away to experts and they can't say for sure what the animal is...the "Big Foot People" heard about the pics and want to buy them from the guy. DH has seen the original pics and he thinks it's possibly some kind of primate. I just saw them at this site http://www.pabucks.com/deer-hunting-forum/viewtopic.php?t=5188&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=
and I've gotta say, I now know why folks believe in Big Foots (big feet?). This pic was actually taken in DH's and my favorite fishing spot. I guess we'll have to watch our backs from now on, lol!
DH said that in the original picks there was no red spot. We are guessing that maybe that happened in all the copying and pasting.
So, what do you think? Big Foot, black bear, primate?
Big Foot Documented
A few years ago I watched a show featuring a man who
basically let the cat out of the bag on his father; who was
behind what was intended as a joke and became a nationwide
phenomenon, much like Pet Rocks, Hula Hoops, etc.
Sometimes I think we as a people are bored and just want
to believe in something, anything. I believe it's time for tea!
Heathr, too funny, thanks for sharing. LOL. Too funny!
Very interesting I must say. I think there can be things never seen or seen for many years out there somewhere.
I honestly don't know what this is a pic of...I know the pics weren't fooled with, that's been proven. No one can prove that someone didn't set up the whole thing...some kind of Halloween costume or crazy thing like that...but the guy with the pics just doesn't seem the type so it would of had to be a joke on him.
Whatever it is in the pics sure is weird looking. I would think that someone (Game Commission?) would want to know for sure what is out there, just in case it breeds, lol.
I don't believe in Big Foots myself...but I can see how someone could look at those pics and say it's a Big Foot.
...and letting the cat out of the bag...did ya ever see the show where the guy admitted to making crop circles at night? I think he was from England, but I don't remember for certain. I have to admit I thought he was a genius!
Oh, I did hear about that guy!
Crop circles are so cool. That would be one expensive
advertising idea, but on YouTube, you'd sure get a lot
of coverage.
:-) KM
Just last summer, a women was in the woods, saw some trees broken off at 6-10 feet and thought it was strange. She thought big foot. I don't know why. Got in the paper though.
Gee, we have trees breaking off all the time. I am pretty sure that big foot does not live in our woods.
As of late, with all this wind, you'd think there
was a family of them living in our trees. LOL
The wind has really been-a-blowin' here lately.
KM
The Hunting Winds.
We get them this time every year. Who says March is windy? Late Oct-Nov is really bad.
Just looked at the big foot pictures. Really coool!
Sure is a flexable bugger! LOL
Glad I don't have a trail camera. I would bug out if I saw something like this!
I still don't believe in big foot, or chimp/bear hybreds, but cool pictures non the less.
Thanks for posting.
Cparts,
How about a cross between a parrot and an orangutan?
LOL
What?
LOL.
You said:
I still don't believe in big foot, or chimp/bear hybreds.
So I was wondering if you would buy a parrot / orangutan hybrid?
Just kidding, parts. ;-) I'm being a wise guy.
I thought so, but wondered where you got the parrot thing? I think the guy (on the thread below the pictures) really thinks that the DNR crossed monkeys and bears to keep the cougar population down. That got me to reply a great big WHAT?
It is funny you mentioned a bird mix, because I was just asking on the bird forum about an owl that sounds like a coyote.
Maybe I have a wierd coyote/owl combo. Maybe I do need a trail camera.
Ummmm, don't believe in that either. LOL
LOL. I see now why you wondered what on earth I'd
been drinking.
Ha ha!
Oh, forgot to add.
Gonna miss you Wuvie when you get that job. Who is gonna keep me on my toes then?
Aw, parts, I'm gonna miss you, too!
I'm not a big social butterfly, and in all honesty, other
than a few phone friends from afar and a very few close
friends here, the folks on Dave's are my friends. I spend
more time on the internet with all of you than I do with
people in real life.
Sigh. Know that I will miss you. Think of me on the 19th
floor looking at concrete gardens instead of tending to my own.
KM
Congrats on the job Wuvie!
I still don't get how a monkey/bear hybrid would take care of our cougar population anyway. What's a monkear going to do to a mountain lion to hurt it? I didn't read the guy's whole post, so maybe he made reference to that. Another thing is that we just don't have that many cougars here, lol. They aren't supposed to exist here, but everyone knows they do because there's been pics and etc. They are rare here. I've never seen one. My DH has...on the video cameras at work. In any case, cougars are not a big enough problem around here for anyone to go and invent an animal and then let it run wild trying to eradicate them. That story gets my vote for most imaginative though! :)
....unless he was talking about another type of cougar. Now, that's a whole other story....
Yeah, I thought the guy was really off the wall. He said the cougars were introduced in the wild to kill coyotes that were eating the deer. Well, cougars main food is deer. So his reasoning is flawed I believe. And like you said, why would this suppossed hybred creature eat cougars, I think it would just be another food source for the cougars as they will attack a bipod like us and I don't think they mind alittle extra hair. LOL
I still think these pictures are really interesting and would like to know what became of any study of them.
They kind of look like I feel in the morning.
I am not sure if there are or aren't bigfoots but like I said before there are things out there to be discovered.
I would like to see a clearer picture of the animal in the picture.
I can't remember off hand where or who the pics where sent to, but someone (an expert...perhaps a zoologist?) looked over them to try to figure out what type of animal it was. They never gave a definite answer.
I'd love to see a clearer pic too, or at least one during daytime to know the color of it for certain. At first we thought the guy was using some cheap camera...since he had left it in the woods stuck to a tree. It turns out that it's actually a very good 35mm camera, it was given to the guy as a gift. These pics make me want to get a tree cam and see what I get pics of....then again, there are things you just might not want to know about!
I'm waiting to see if he gets anymore pics like this. I hope he does and that the next ones are much better.
Here's some more info I just found at the Bigfoot Field Researcher's Organization about these photos. (I never knew such a place existed?!) This page will take forever to load, but it's worth it if you want to see it. There are slightly better copies of the pics there, also pics of bear cubs taken by the same guy. There's a lot of info about the pics too.
http://bfro.net/avevid/jacobs/jacobs_photos.asp
They've promised more pics soon...but I haven't heard anything about that, so I'm wondering what they are talking about...or if it's all a big surprise?
Thanks for the update. I have dial-up and will try to download.
I am so glad you posted these pictures. I really do not believe, but cannot explain the pictures either. They sure are the most unusual ones I have ever seen.
I have gone back and forth about wanting a trail camera. I have heard of monster bucks only coming in at 1 in the morning. That would break my heart.
I did have some wierd activity in our woods this spring and again in the summer, a camera would have maybe solved the mystery, but then again, would spoil the fun?
The website loaded pretty fast for me, clicking on an individual picture was slower, but not bad. This was a good website as it showed pictures of the baby bears, gives you a comparison to size.
What is the black spot in the front of the picture?I first thought it was a shadow from the flash, but it is not in the bear picture.
My connection must have been super, super slow last night because I just went back to the site and it loaded fast. Who knows?
The "black spot" is the base for a salt/mineral lick that the guy had set up near the cam. In the pics of the baby bears you can see the lick sitting in it. In the pic of the unknown animal/thing if you look real close you can see the lick has been tipped over on it's side.
Now for something really weird and that's going to make me sound like a total head case. I went into the BFRO site and was nosing around last night. They have sound files there of what is supposedly Bigfoot recordings. I didn't listen to all of them, but I listened to enough of them to completely freak me out....
On another thread "A Distinct Sound" I mentioned a sound that I've heard at my DB's house. It's an animal sound like nothing I've ever heard before. My DB has been an outdoorsman all his life and he can't place the animal making the noise either. It's not a howl, nor a cry, nor a growl, nor a scream/screech, but a combination of all of them. I've only heard it once, late at night when I was alone (of course), and it scared the wits out of me.....
Now, whatever is on the recordings that they are thinking are recordings of Bigfoot sounded very similar to what I heard. I don't know enough about wildlife to know what else could be making these noises...but all of it is a bit strange to me. I'm NOT saying there's a Bigfoot in my DB's backyard...I'm saying that whatever made those sounds is the same type of animal and it's freaking me out because I've never head anything like it before...now there are similar recordings showing up on the BFRO website. It's just too weird.
If you really want to hear this stuff, the best site I found is this one, but a warning first...seriously...some of these sounds are super creepy and I don't know that kids should hear them, especially this close to Halloween. The last clip on the page I didn't listen to, according to the forums at BFRO it's a super haunting sound and I was already freaked out enough. Ok, that's my warning, if you have nightmares, don't come back and blame me!
http://www.oregonbigfoot.com/sounds.php
Hey Heathrjoy, Your pics made the aol news home page this morning. Thought you would want to know.
Cindy
It's getting really close to Halloween, isn't it. :) LOL
The warning about the nightmares must be about the sound downloads. One of them gave me the chills.
I am used to hearing noises in the woods.
This time of year (hunting) I am out there in the dark and hear some pretty wierd and freaky sounds, from heavy breathing, to screams of bobcats. It takes quite a bit to give me the willies, but one of those soundtracks did it.
The freaky thing is this isn't about Halloween. I'm sure the pics on AOL is about Halloween though. That is great that his pics made it to AOL, I'll have to make sure he knows...I'm sure he does though.
Those sounds are super creepy and make your skin crawl. I was on my DB's deck when I heard whatever it was that I heard and I threw everything that was in my hands and ran for the door. Once inside I locked the doors, lol. I don't know why but I just felt the need to do that! If I had been in the woods and heard that noise, or one of the noises on those recordings, I'm sure I would have come close to having a heart attack....or at least peed my pants while trying to get out of there.
It really makes me wonder what the heck the sounds are of? I'd like to do a search for different animal's cries, etc. and compare them, but I don't want to have to tell my DB that he has a bobcat in his backyard. Whatever it is, it's too weird for me.
I have heard owls that scream/yike like a coyote, bobcats that scream like a women in pain, coyote mornful howl, or excited yip.
Some large birds make really strange noises. Sometimes a blue heron sounds like a duck being strangled. Did you ever hear a hurt bunny? Oh my, that is one too.
One of the worst is a deer that has been shot in the spine. They will wail the worst scream you ever heard. I have heard it twice. Both times from the property across the river from us, a guy who hunts from a tree. It is a terrible sound, somewhat like some of the screams recorded.
I am sure there are some strange noises out there that I have never heard, that are normal animals. But some of those sounds still give me the willies!
I've heard bunny calls, but never the real thing. The calls are horrible enough, they sound like a wounded infant to me. Don't they use them for bear hunting?
My DH has a history of making chipmunks scream. We never knew a chipmunk could make a noise. He continuously scares the chippy out back and when it screams it sounds just like a little girl. The dogs are always with me when I'm outside so I can never sneak up on anything, but DH is usually alone so they don't hear him coming. He'll walk around the corner of the house and you'll hear a chippy scream.
Funny, yes all those creatures can make a noise.
I believe they use the bunny call for hunting coyotes and bobcats. I was bobcat hunting once and called in an owl. Guess he was interested in bunny lunch too.
The BayCity paper here in Mi had a small article last night about these pictures. Did not print the pictures, and said that authorities were sure that the pictures were of a bear that had mange really bad. mmmmmmm
I've read where other folks said it could be a bear. A starving, mangy bear. It's hard to imagine a bear looking like that, but I guess anything is possible. I also don't know if I'm seeing the pics wrong, but the animal I see seems to have a lot of hair and I always thought mange made an animal's hair fall out?
I wonder if the guy DH works with had any clue his pics would cause this much commotion?
Oh I am sure he knew that these pictures would be important. They are really unusual.
You are right, I see lots of hair, maybe because he had pictures of cubs not long before these others were taken.
Again...I do not believe in bigfoot, but I don't think these are a bear either, mangy or scrawny.
These pictures are just strange. UWC (unidentified woods creature)
I don't believe in bigfoot either. I agree with whomever it was that said they believe there can be things not seen, or not seen for long periods of time, in places like where this trail cam was set up. The #1 reason I just can't believe in bigfoot is because you'd think by now they'd have skeletal remains with DNA to prove something. The pics are very weird. I love the UWC!! LOL! I hope that sometime there's some way to really prove what the pics are of.
Didn't Jeff Corwin just discover some new kind of lizard? I saw something about it on TV but haven't gotten to look it up yet. Who knows what's really out there? But, bigfoot, I'm not putting my money on it!
