Once upon a time, a list of all of my Watched Threads showed up on my Home Page. Somewhere along the way (six months or more ago?) I lost that function, and now all that I see is the list of Watched Forums. I very much miss that list of Watched Threads. Is there a way to get it back via preferences or otherwise?
Watched Threads Question
Hi wrightie, From what I see you have to do it individually.
I'm a little confused by your wording but even if you start a thread now you have to click on the "Watch Thread" at the top of the post in order for it to come up on your Home Page.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I just went through this the other day and thats the way I had to do it. :-)

Hi, Pelletory. No, I've got things set up to watch threads automatically. The feature that I'm talking about is the actual *list* of all of my watched threads. I used to have all of those threads in a list form on my home page at all times. Now it is gone. I don't want to see my watched threads only when a new post is added to them. I'd like to have them back on the home page. I tried to find a way to add the list back via My Preferences selection boxes, but I couldn't find it there. Maybe I'm blind?
Go to "My Info" on the task bar at the top of the page. Click on that and one of the boxes that cames up will be "Your Actions"
You should see a link "View the threads you are watching"
They should all be there
Oh okay sorry; I'll keep an eye as to what the answer is just for my own curiousity. :-)
Oops, cross posted!

Hi Floridian,
I can view the list that way *temporarily*, but I cannot find a way to set it up to *permanently* remain on my Home Page as it used to be. Am I missing a selection box that will keep the list on my home page continuously?
I'm sorry, I don't remember watched threads being on the home page...but trust me, that doesn't mean a thing! LOL
I looked around in preferences and such and couldn't see a way to add it to the home page either.
Hmmm ... Yes, the list was on my home page with a Yes/No tag indicating whether there were new posts available or not. I presume that when the Watch/Unwatch Thread function was added, that that is when I lost the list... Bummer. I found it very handy.
The whole list of your watched threads has only been available via the "My Info" link (that's the way it always has been ;o))
When a watched thread has new activity, it will show up on your home page, but that's the only time a watched thread will show up there.
(Personally speaking, I have over 4,000 threads on my "watched threads" list and I wouldn't want all of them to come up on my home page every time I hit that tab.)
Well, I'm not sure how I can be so clearly remembering something that was never there to begin with? lol De-selecting the threads of no interest is a handy tool as well.
wrightie, a thread will return to your home page if you click on "Mark as unread" just under the last post. But then you won't know if there are new posts to the thread without going to it and checking.
wrightie, I'm not sure what you might have seen, but I am positive that the list of all watched threads (new and not) have never been on our home pages.
And yeah, I know I should probably go through and use the de-select option...as an administrator, I just tend to accumulate a lot of "watched" threads no matter how ruthlessly I cull out the old ones ;o0
I haven't been around nearly as long as Terry has, but I also don't remember ever seeing anything but watched threads with new posts on the home page, I've always had to go to My Info when I want to see the ones I was watching that didn't have new posts.
apparently I've been living in a parallel universe...
LOL, it happens to the best of us! Personally, for me it's called senior moment or something to that effect, and I'm not even a senior yet but it happens too often, getting scary.
Hmmm, I like the parallel universe one.
No more senior moments for me,lol.
I think what it is (and sorry if I'm repeating what someone else said) but you only get the threads listed above your forums if they have a posting on them since you last visited them. If you've looked at them all, they disappear until a new posting has been made.
Was that it?
In my parallel life, there was a list which showed the Yes/No column indicating whether there were new posts or not, but the thread list remained in view. The "new posts" that you mention, PCat, is a new-er feature in my parallel life.
So.... am I in this world or your paralell world?
Who's on First?
I really think this is what you were seeing: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/mywatcher.php - now, why you thought you were (or it was) on your Home tab, rather than inside your member page, I dunno ;o)
LOL ... In my parallel life, I did not have to go through all of the extra steps to get to that page, T. My parallel life is a magical place, you see. Life is very easy there.
And everybody know your na-aa-ame
And they're always glad you ca - aa- ame....
Uh huh......anything else about this parallel universe we should know about???? *chuckle*
Seriously, the only steps to get there are click on "My Info" and the "watched threads" link....and it's always been a two-click process, even before we changed around the tabs.
Ok, now who's watch thread was that? My name is all over that, call me 'paranoid' he he. I'd rather have that parallel universe thingie wrightie has!
Or is that a whatchamacall it. :-)
Doh, I think it's my watch list. Am I right to assume you posted your watch list Terry but since we all logged in individually, it will automatically show our own list?
Talk about parallel universes! Or what ever that's called...think I'll head back out in the garden before the rain hits, this is too confusing.
Anyone who clicks on that link will see their own list of watched threads.
And frankly, it doesn't matter how many watched threads you have, because if they are inactive, they will just be off in cyberspace somewhere, waiting for someone to activate them again with a new post.
Maybe they really are waiting for you in your parallel universe.
???
Does that mean you don't understand what I meant? I'll explain, hopefully better than before.
Eventually, all threads die off and people stop responding to them. So they fall down the list of active threads in the forum they are in. As new threads are added to the forum, the unanswered thread gets moved off the page, replaced by those being posted to. It's still on the forum, but you don't see it because it's on page two, or three, etc. At the bottom of each forum you can see how many pages there are of old threads.
Those old threads can be brought back to life by someone opening one up and adding a post to it. That brings it back to the top of page one. So "old threads never die, they just get pushed to the rear."
Actually, you can always go back to view your watched threads via the My Info link, as Terry mentioned above. That's fine; I can do that. My memory was that that list was available on the Home Page, but seems I was wrong (very odd that I have such strong memories of that function though)...
Oh, I see now. My comment was to respond to the fact that Terry said she has over 4000 watched threads, and that there's no need to unwatch them. Never mind me.
LOL ... see, we're all lost in cyberspace!
The link I posted will take each of us to our own watched threads...I can't see yours, you can't see mine ;o)
Nap, that's a lot of the reason why I don't unwatch more of those old threads ;o)
I thought I remembered too at one time my home page showing all the threads I was "watching". Now it shows forums I'm watching. But, I know when post on a thread I can click on "Watch this thread" and whenever a new post is made to that thread it shows up on my home page above the area of "Forums I'm watching".
Does that make sense? I think I worded it right.
THANK YOU, PLANTLADYLIN!!!! YES!!!!!
Sheesh, that's what *I* said.
I just went back through all these posts ... sorry I skipped through them before. and, Yes .... What I described is exactly what Pagancat posted way back up there towards the top! I am bad! I should read through before speaking. LOL ... you've heard of that old foot in mouth disease? Sometimes I read each and every post on a thread and other times I scan them, like I did just now. But, I'm so bad you can tell me how to do something three or four times and 5 minutes later I've forgotten it! Age!
..... at least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
Oh, no - Lin, I was screeching at Wrightie, not you! It's my job to screech at Wrightie. Don't worry about it!
mmmmm ... PC, you were only referring to the fact that threads with NEW posts are listed on the homepage, right? That's not what I'm talkinboutwillis. If you look at your homepage now, you will see the list of Forums that you are watching, right? There is a complete list which shows all of your preferred Forums *regardless of whether there are new posts*, right? Well... I'm tellin ya ... my PUM (Parallel Universe Memory) is that we had the same kind of functionality with the Threads we were watching list. All threads were listed REGARDLESS of whether there was a new post or not. (Terry, I know that you strongly disagree with me. Bare with me, please)
Okay, I'm not going to beat this dead and gone horse any longer (or at least I'll try not to)... Suffice to say, that I would like to have my Thread list more accessible. I would like my thread list available on my homepage. I would like that to be something that I can configure in the Preferences area.
smooch smooch, see you in the galaxies.
