North Texas Round-Up, Final Headcount

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

LouC - on a side note have you heard from Bronc?

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

And really - I love it over here in the Texas Forum we are able to play around and not get all bent out of shape like I have seen in other forums. Everyone over here in this forum is just great.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I am heading off to bed... wish everyone sweet dreams and many many wonderful blooms before the frosts of winter knock at your door.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Nothing from Bronc.

Afraid I'm right behind.

night,night, everybody. Sweet dreams.

Goodnight, JohnBoy.
Night, Mary Ellen

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

well i was just coming on to stir up some trouble but looks like i am too late tonight. goodnight, sweethearts.

DFW area, TX(Zone 7b)

Yep - I'll have to agree - Mitch and Bronc and Dennis and
Frank and Dave and all the other guys there are swell.
I'm a big fan already. Everyone was so friendly and
hospitable. They're all keepers. And the ladies - well,
they were a shining example of what Southern hospitality
is all about. I'm so glad I went.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

it was fun right? toooo much fun but fun.

Morning All - hope each and every one of you has a great and blessed day.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Starting and ending the day with sweet and kind people helps the middle to go better, don't cha think?

I dreamed I was planting all night. Somethings I planted over and over and over.

I need to get some of that done today so I don't have to spend all night "planting". hahahaha

Another wonderful day in the neighborhood. Thank God we all got to know Mr. Rogers.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

That it is... all the kids are tooo high on waiting for the sugar rush.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

what you mean you didn't' take in a treat for them??? LOL...do they do a parade around the school in costumes then go back to their rooms and have their lil parties and get soo pumped up on sugar for the bus ride home????

That was the only thing I didn't like about the holiday parties at school the kids were sooooooo wound up on candy and excitement it was hard to get them to stay in their seats on the bus ride home along with the fact some couldn't' wait to get home to start eating the candy and left the candy wrappers all over the floor.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i am curious to know how your school handles holidays, mitch. at our school we only do Christmas and valentines now. nothing like when i was in school. it's sort of sad to me.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I do the holidays... I close my door and do it anyways. I think kids need them.

We had people at the door to call homes if they came dressed up... that was sad. but we are having candy and prizes here in class anyway. (Oh and no Chirstmas we got to call it a Holiday or Winter... but with a Christmas tree and gifts and everything... oh well.)

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

we have never done gifts at my kids school. oh, and this year........no halloween carnival..uh, fall festival. they might do something in jan.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

See just sad.. kids need those things to ground them in the cycle of the year.

No I make each kid a gift bag for Christmas... a pencil, some candy, fruit, and a toy at least.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Maybe a little contribution in some way would help you a little at Christmas.
How many children are in your care? Are they pre-K or Kindergarten?

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Christi - I dont want to get them too big or they tend to get pick off them by the older kids... but I have 17 kids.

You guys are soooo funny! I would have taken some Bamboo, I got huge pots to grow it in so I can shade my Hostas. Who's big pot of Bamboo I saw at the far end down there. I am so glad I diont make to many trades I came home with more stuff than I can handle. I talked to the yard man today, told him to come plant Saturday. I trained this guy to plant and he loves it ... am i lucky or what?

BTW who had the Bamboo?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

I have bamboo ....it was planted here by someone before us and not contained so it was left to try and take over soo we have been working on cutting some down and the roots are all over the place.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I was at the far end when Siggy and Sweezel were loading it in the vehicle, that was some big pot of bamboo! Not sure who it came from but it went home with Sweezel; it was twice her size! LOL!!

BTW Sylvia, Ted started a great thread to ID the RU plants that were not labeled, etc!! Here is the link....

Dallas, TX

When are you gonna miss me Mitch???

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Today - today...

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Sorry... Yes, it was me who went home with the Bamboo. It was from Siggy and it was a very nice and large pot of Black Bamboo. He moved and does not have a good place for it anymore so I got talked into taking it. :) It will be kept in a large pot on my cement back porch to keep it from invading. I am sure I will be able to share at future swaps.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Ahh good way to have it in a pot ......don't water it too much as it doesn't like wet feet unless you are trying to kill it ..LOL
