October Bingo Calls page 4

(Zone 1)

Kim: I love that name "Ya Ya" as an endearing name instead of Grandma. Cute! I've heard some grandmother's referred to as "Mimi". My mom was known as Nannie, and she didn't really like it. But, it just stuck. Growing up, we all called our grandmother Nannie so when my sisters all had kids our mom got stuck with that name too. My dad has always been "Paw Paw" to his grands because that's how it came out when the first grandchild tried to say grandpaw. My youngest niece who is almost 21 calls her dad's mom "Grandmommy" and it was "Grandaddy" for her grandfather on that side. I really like the nickname "Ya Ya" .... what's grandad gonna be called?

I love frozen banana's too Gail .... Dipped in chocolate makes them even beter! I also learned this tip from someone: When Banana's begin to get ripe if you can't eat them fast enough, put them in the refrigerator! The peels will still turn brown/black and look rotten but the fruit stays fresh. Of course if you forget and leave them in the frig for weeks (as I have done when they get shoved to the back behind other stuff) they will eventually rot!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Ya Ya..................that is cute, but they call you whatever they can say..........the only reason I am Nana is because of the first grandchild. I though I would be a Granny Gail.........but didn't turn out that way. My mother was always Mimi to the grands............and Pops was what they called my stepfather........

By the way, that was one of my very favorite movies..............Kim!!!!!!!!

(Zone 1)

That was a cute movie. Can't remember the exact title though. Was it "Secret's of the Ya Ya Sisterhood"? ... I know it was something like that!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I never saw the movie but wanted to *lol*
I looked up names on the internet for Grandmother and although I'm polish, I'm not really into Babchi. Ya Ya is actually German and although I'm not German I like the sounds of it. Not just that but I'm hoping to be a young Ya Ya and act crazy for the REST of my life! I love being crazy and my kids know it and I want my grandkids to know it too *lol*
I told hubby he could be No No *lol* Ya Ya and No No *lol* As long as I get to be the good guy *lol*
I can't wait for grandkids someday but as it is my oldest is 18 right now so I'm not in any hurry and he's not in any hurry to move out *lol*

(Zone 1)

Way to go BBeth! I bet we have a Bingo or two next week!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Lin.............you seem to be getting the vibes better for me............THANKS!!!!!!!! Twice Pink is prettier in person than the picture...........there is more white on the edges on the one I am growing.............which will be heading out when I get home............(but I always keep one for me)..................or grow one for me................

(Zone 1)

It is sooo pretty! But, you know me, I love Pink!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Lin...............you just give me a little time...........I have planted up some babies with pink blooms that are 'to me' the 'die for' variegated foliage and pink blooms..........I have to give credit to Snow for sending me the leaves sometime back............

I have never left my plants this long.........with the light timers on and full reservoirs of water............just trusting that they will be fine until I get back................

PS......is Wrangler's Dixie Celebration still breathing?????? (LOL)

(Zone 1)

Yep ... it's breathing. Not doing real well, but hanging in there. I love the AV's with the variegated foliage .... my favorite noid is still that one with all the pink in the leaves! And, it's a bonus when they have pink or purple flowers! Snow sent me a couple of leaves of Wrangler's Pink Patches and they are doing great this time around! She sent me some last spring that didn't survive. No babies yet but they've got roots! I gave them a little tug the other day and there was definite resistance! Can't wait for the babies to pop those little ears above the soil! I never knew that any AV had variegated foliage until I joined DG last year and I was so stunned when I saw Snow's photo of Wrangler's Pink Patches! It's been my favorite ever since. I have one called Harmony's Little Stinker that she sent me not long ago and absolutely adore that variegated Chimera foliage! I am waiting patiently for blooms!

That semi mini purple noid you gave me is still blooming it's little head off. That is a big favorite! I didn't think I would like the mini's or semi mini's but some of them are just so cute ... really irresistable!

I just can't wait for Spring to get here and all the trading to begin! If we are all propagating over the winter I bet we will all have an abundance to trade!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Lin, I have 5 babies of Pink Patches growing in their own little solo cups..............still in the permanest tray with blanket material and a dome over the top..........I bet they will be ready for the real world when I get home........

Snow taught me that the more variegated a plant is the more light they can take for making chlorophyl (i think that is what she told me) so I always put the most variegated plants in the strongest part of the gro light............hang on Wrangler's Dixie Celebration.......she was the only babe that came from that leaf........but I have another one planted now.

You all think about me in the morning at ten..........going to the big Austin av sale...........nervous because I get compulsive..............and I want to be able to shop at the state convention in November...........which will be even bigger and many vendors . I am going to try extra hard to get exactly only what I can't live without. I emailed the Lone Star state officer in Austin to see what they were going to have in the morning.........she told me mainly avs but she was bringing sinningias..............

(Zone 1)

Ooooh Gail, I sure wish I could be there to go shopping with you in Austin tomorrow ! Can't wait to hear what your purchases are! You can always get home and take inventory of house plants and others that you have "extra's" of or that you aren't really, really attached to and post another classified ad .... get some extra money to spend in November!!

:) Yeah, I know I'm an enabler!

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Lin that is the perfect idea for Gail!! Sell off those extras and the ones that aren't thrilling her any longer so she can raise some money for the next sale. I can't wait to hear what she gets either!! Isn't this what it's called to live vicariously???? LOL I really need to check into whether or not Boise has any of this kind of thing going on!

Oh Gail I envy you the chance at sinningias!! I recently received some micro minis in a trade and I am hooked!! And a month or so ago Snowrose posted a picture of her Sinningia Peridots Darth Vadar bloom and it was so awesome that I ended up ordering the plant............. It came in today!! Even the foliage is beautiful!!
