Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

good morning everyone..............I can't wait for my Silverglade Oyster to bloom............the babies are looking fantastic............thanks to Brenda's two leaves I will have a lot of them.

I was on the phone trying to multitask and send you all a picture of the computer tech's little just turned 6 daughter with her "pickings" off my front porch for her mama. I didn't even send the picture..................not good with more than one thing at a time.

Thumbnail by gessiegail
Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Gail what an adorable little girl! She sure looks happy with all those wonderful blooms in her lap. That was so sweet of you to let her pick them for her mama.

Brenda!! However you have that collander positioned on your noggin..DON'T MOVE!! I had BOTH of todays calls!! I feel unstoppable now..LOL..

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I love the little honeysuckle rose one.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh goodness Brenda, guess I am a little "left" after all.
Not one call today :(
Maybe tomorrow you can swap it back to the left and post a picture of you in it again *lol* That is SO cute :)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

i have to tell you all somethng...............I grew two leaves of honeysuckle rose...........being a trailer i always like to put as many baby plants in one pot so it will get giant and trail..........Brenda bought it from me..............she is one beauty with so many crowns.........let me take a quick picture of her at this stage...................

The leaves aren't big enough yet to stick........and I grew just two leaves of her...........so when she gets big, I am going to turn around and ask Brenda for two leaves to start my own........................she is too cute!!!!!!!!! She will get big as she is a standard trailer........already in a 4" pot..............where she can stay for a very long time........

I will never get off tomorrow if i don't get back to work..............I found out that streps don't travel well in moss so i am repotting again in a light mix before they have to travel ........................

Thumbnail by gessiegail
Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Gail, I think it is SO touching that you are going to care for your son :)

I removed my moss only because I KNOW I would have overwatered them for sure. They are looking better and better with each passing day :) They traveled fine in the moss it's just I knew my watering habits (or do I say "babying" habits" *lol*

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Trust me..............if he had a wife or his girlfriend was not in DC right now.............working..........I wouldn't be going...........but there is something about your children that you are always a mom no matter the age....................My mom did it for me as a single mom. Everytime i got sick, she rushed to Houston to take care of the children and me..................

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Beautiful!!! I am so going to enjoy Honeysuckle Rose. I'll send you leaves in the spring!! You'll notice Gail that I put each of the 4 Trailing AV's I bought from you on this months bingo list! I was looking at the pictures of them and thought I'd add them to the list so I could enjoy them again when I posted them! LOL

That red colander is generally my fruit bowl on my kitchen counter but I'm glad it can do double duty this month!! LOL

It's been snowing all morning, fortunately it's still too early for it to stay! Hey Nancy maybe I'm just frozen in time from so many long cold winters here!! There should be some reward for it! LOL

My Kholeria Tane opened up it's first bloom yesterday morning!

(Zone 1)

Oh Wow ... Brenda's got Snow???!!! I wanna see a picture! We had a little "cold" front (Ha Ha) come through and we are hanging at 85 right now .... humidity is back up there and by the weekend it's supposed to be 90/91 again. I need a photo of somewhere where it's snowing to dream of cooler temp's!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have decided there are two gessies I can't grow successfully. One is Kohleria (yours is beautiful) and the other one I can't grow are episicas. That is ok with me.................we all have ones that we tend to do better with................

I did notice that you chose some trailers, Brenda........they are one of my favorite gessies right now. I can hardly wait for the state convention to find some more..............be it leaves or the plant itself.

back to work

*********Lin , I will sympathize with you on Brenda having snow. Today is supposed to be 94, but we are getting a cold front on Monday...........laughing as they say we might get down into the 50's Tuesday morning. (LOL)

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Brenda, what a pretty Kohleria :) Looks like a Foxglove :)
We had frost in Maine this morning. At 5:00 I was outside sitting on the porch (we smoke outside) and there were SO MANY stars that it seemed that there were stars on top of other stars. It was SO pretty bouncing off the frost. By 6:00 when hubby got up there weren't 1/4 the amount of stars that there was at 5:00. It was pretty neat.
So there I sat, cuddled up in a fuzzy blanket freezing my butt off, coffee in one hand, my bad habit in the other and LOVING the star gazing. Started the day out perfectly.

(Zone 1)

Oh .... I would love 50's Gail! I checked our outside temp at 2:00 this am and it was 77 degrees! I sure would love some 50's at night and mid 70's for daytime highs! Guess I could move a bit north, huh?

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Here is a picture from 5 minutes ago, just a skiff on the ground for now!

Kim I can relate to the star gazing, I'm always amazed when I got to the city and can hardly see any stars at all compared the zillions that are here. Oh and you might want to add Kholerias to your research as I stuck a Mother's Lipstick into the box that went out to you yesterday. It's a young leggy thing but you'll have fun playing with it this winter!

Gail I am going to love those trailers, I'm tired of worry about whether my violet has the right symmetry etc. So this way I can let them go willy nilly without a second thought. LOL

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh, I do remember that I lived for 11 years in the mountains or..............rather at 6700 at the bottom of a mountain......................we always had our first snow in either September or October........i would sit up all night watching it snow.

Of course, i was ready by March 1st for it to stop immediately but it didn't...............

Why do you think I love trailers, Brenda..........this symmetry thing doesn't mean much to me either!!!!!!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Brenda, I think I may be losing it. I just D-Mailed you :)

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Brenda,

Can you bend over so I can sneak under the colander. I had one today but I won't two. That is one spiffy hat you got there.

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Diane you are the genius behind this colander idea so I'd think you could tune in easily!! LOL Maybe you need to put yours on too in order to send the vibes with....

Here is Ma's Winter Moon from this morning with some snow on the deck in the back ground. The blooms on this have continued to get prettier just as I was told they would!!

Oh Brenda ... that scenery is just soooo Beautiful! Down here in Florida we don't get to see much colorful foliage .... every once in a blue moon we get some but not much! And, of course none of the white stuff on the ground! Aaaah .... I could just stare at that photo for hours! Is that your driveway?

I can't wait for hubby to retire so we can see more of this Beautiful country of ours .... and Canada too! I am so hoping we can both keep healthy to be able to do some traveling around in another 7 or 8 years. We are supposed to take out boat to the Bahamas for a week next summer .... well I will fly there and meet him .... my sister, her husband and a couple who have been our best friends for more than 30 years. We have a feeling the trip will not happen because of some health problems my sister is having and our friend is busy with his business. If we don't go to the Bahamas, hubby is talking about going to upstate N.Y. .... possibly renting a motor home for the trip. His brother and sister in law who live in upstate N.Y. have a motor home that they take up to someplace called Thousand Islands and they've showed us photos and video's and it's a gorgeous area. We would love to spend a few days up there. I've only been up to N.Y. once to the Syracuse area a few years ago. I really want to travel through New England and out west someday too! Hubby wants to go to Alaska which we hear is absolutely Beautiful. We know a retired couple who used to have a large motor home and they made the trip from Florida twice .... all the way to Alaska. They've been all over the country a few times!
Someday, we will fit a few trips in!

Well ... here I go rambling again! I'm outta here for a bit ... see y'all later!

North Augusta, ON

Well Lin, if ya ever get to the thousand islands, give me a yell...I'm only 35 minutes from there......it is a beautiful area...can you believe I've never taken the cruise yet? and I live right here!!!

(Zone 1)

Oh Wow ... I knew that the islands had N.Y. on one side and Canada on the other but had no idea it was close to Ontario ... LOL, I'm a Southern Gal and have not traveled very much! I have always wanted to visit Canada .... my husbands Mother was born in Alberta .... way west and I've always wanted to travel there as well as to British Columbia.

Now, Ontario is one of the Big cities, right? I need to go look at a map ... hee hee - love researching stuff and especially reading about different areas in North America!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Well, and while you are in Canada....Maine isn't too far away *hint, hint* and there is LOTS of lobsta in Maine :) Oh yeah, and I'm here too *wink, wink*

(Zone 1)

See ... I need to study! You are in the city of North Augusta ... Ontario is the province not the city! I'm looking at the Encyclopedia!

(Zone 1)

Hi ya Kim! I went to Bangor, Maine a few years ago with our University's Basketball team and a bunch of fans! Our team played in a tournament there. Hubby was out in Seattle Washington at the time with students touring Boeing Aircraft so I ended up flying up to Maine. I'll never forget, it was December 3rd and boy was it COLD! We did have a lobster dinner and no offense but I prefer Florida Lobster! LOL. Actually I'm not really a lobster person, it's okay but I love Fried Shrimp! And Grouper and Dolphin (Mahi) and Flounder and Tuna .... I grew up on seafood. My Dad and Brothers and Brother In Law and Nephew LOVE fishing! When I was in Maine a bunch of us took a day and drove over to Bar Harbor! I would love to visit that area again some day but in SUMMER time! I was so shocked driving in that beautiful seaside city and seeing all the large hotels and resorts all boarded up with signs saying closed for the season! That was a new one on me! I was a bit confused. Being from the South I guess I never realized that places actually close up in the winter months! We found a couple of little shops still open and one restaurant that was actually closing the next day!! They said they were real late closing for the season!

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

All those places sound wonderful. I would love to go if I could just warp there but I will never get on a plane.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have a real good friend who lives near Bangor , Maine. We communicate through email all the time. It is sooooooooooo cold there but the beaches are pristine and beautiful; however, the water temps were 54 in the month of July last year. Our water is currently in the mid 80's.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I have never care for water deeper than my ankle. It scare the h--- out of me.

North Augusta, ON

My Gramma was terrified of the water, she was terrified of snakes too...once she saw a snake and jumped into the water!!!!

(Zone 1)

Oh, with a husband who has been a Professor in Aviation at an Aeronautical University for many years, we don't fly as much as you would think. But, I will FLY any day rather than being in a car for long trips! I hate the 3 1/2 hr drive down to my sisters in Lauderdale! Now, I have never been in a plane for longer than 2 1/2 hours non stop and I can't imagine being in the air any longer than that! I have been told that the most dangerous time in an aircraft is at takeoff and landing but I am one who likes to be in the air for a little while then back on the ground and then back in the air. LOL Years ago we went on a trip to Denver with our B'Ball team and hubby wanted to fly direct from Orlando .... no way! I did not want to be in the air that long. So, we flew from Daytona to Charlotte (I think it was) then from Charlotte to Chicago and Chicago to Denver ... same path back .... spent an entire day traveling but I love airports anyway, even the really, really busy ones like Atlanta ... I am a people watcher and find it a lot of fun being in airports for an hour or so at a time! Tiring but fun!

I don't drive on the Interstates anymore myself ... makes me a nervous wreck and I'd be afraid of causing a crash. The last two years of my Moms life when she was fighting diabetes related infections as well as recurring cancer I was back and forth to Fort Lauderdale every couple of weeks. Hubby would drive me the 1 1/2 hours to the Orlando Airport for the 25 minute flight to Ft. Lauderdale! Unfortunately I can't get there from Daytona International without having to go to Atlanta and change flights back to South Florida!!

(Zone 1)

I have lived on the coast all my life and we were always at the beach on weekends during the summers ... family has been in Florida for 40 years now and hubby and I have a boat and go out during the summer ... have a pool here at the house but I too have a fear of water over my head!! I almost drowned when we first came to Fla and have had that fear ever since! Our pool hasn't been used in many years ... just takes up space but I enjoy sitting and looking at it. When we are out on the boat and anchor off a beach, I will only go in ankle deep water! Too afraid of sharks and things, especially if the water is murky and you can't see the bottom .... who knows what creatures are lurking there to bite my toes!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Hi all!!!

Wow! There was alot for me to catch up on today. I've already spent most of my hour at the library just trying to catch up on DG! (more important than other business, right?)

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers... they mean more to me than you will ever know. Yesterday was just one of those bad days for me, when you think to yourself, "Can anything else go wrong today???" As I just answered one dmail, if I keep thinking that way, then yes, something else probably will! LOL!

I am hanging in there, and know deep down inside that things will get better for me and my family. I learned something last week... it was actually quite an epiphany for me... and to think I got it from a movie... but yet it is so, so true.

If you ask the Lord for strength, He doesn't give you strength... He puts something in your way that you have to be strong for.
If you ask the Lord for courage, He doesn't give you courage... He puts something in your way that you must become courageous to face.
If you ask the Lord for peace, He doesn't automatically give you peace... He helps you through the hard times, so you will recognize peace when it comes.

This made me cry instantly.... and it is so true... at least for me. ("Lord, I am listening... and I thank you for helping me through each day...")

My blessings and thanks go out to each and every one of you, who have become my friends, and my gardening family. I could not have made it this far, but for the friendships I have made here. You have given me laughter and hope and filled a void in my life.

Kim... you ARE a cutie! What a great photo and great smile!
Brenda... THAT'S the problem! It's a stainless steel collander! My vibes were set for aluminum from Diane's hat!
Threegardeners... You got me too! I was thinking, "Wow! She got Bingo fast!"
Gail... Too funny carrying all your babies to your son's house! Sounds like something I have done, when going to my Mom's!
Amy... Get better soon! We miss you!
Makshi... {{{{{Hugs}}}}}
Critter... {{{{{Hugs}}}}}
Lin... Well put! You are wise beyond words! NY still sounds like a road trip to Logee's!
Snowrose... a safe trip if you are on vacation, and a safe return. We miss you and hope you come back soon!
Cjolene... Eek! Hope you have a new home soon! In my thoughts and prayers for that to happen quickly!
Continued prayers to jannich and starfly!

To new names I don't recognize... enjoy, good luck and glad you can join in this wonderful group.

Well, they are telling me I have to get off the computer now... my hour is up! :o(
I didn't even get to check my real email! LOL!

Take care everyone!
Until tomorrow!

Hugs to all!
Karen

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh my goodness Karen, it's SO WONDERFUL to hear from you.
You have been in my thoughts ALL DAY LONG!
You WILL make it through this and God will guide you and make you stronger. It is something you will be able to laugh about someday. I know it doesn't feel that way right now.
We lived on our land 2 summers ago for over 6 weeks. No electricity, no phone, no shower, no nothing. We took showers with COLD water from the hose behind a blanket HOPING no one could see us. Mosquitos, bees, ticks, black flies and it was SO HOT! I was MISERABLE!!
Woke up in the middle of the night in a severe thunderstorm and HAD to run into the woods naked with a tarp to cover my houseplants so they wouldn't drown. I only had 1 clean nightgown and I wasn't going to get it wet. OMG.....the memories.
No, almost a year and a half later I can look back and laugh. But back then.....Oh goodness, it was awful. I look at our new home though and yeah, it was worth it :)
It will all be worth it my friend :)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

WildRose,
That is so great you found those words of encouragement...............maybe you can put them up on your refrigerator..........with a magnet...........I always have something on the fridge to remind me of how much God loves me and that I have total faith in Him to guide my life.

We all benefit from those words you posted.
gail

(Zone 1)

Karen: Wonderful Sentiments .... and oh so true! I am going to write them down before I forget!

Brenda ..... sooooo, Now I know the problem with why I'm not doing any better in this Bingo game! My vibes have been going to a Plastic Tupperware type Colander not aluminum or stainless!! You need to tilt your head SE ... or maybe if that doesn't work, you can stand on your head and try it that way .... or, better yet .... climb up on the roof - maybe the altitude will help get those vibes in the air and traveling south!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Lin,
I need to ask a favor of you.............Would you watch my card if i send you what I still need?
There is just this feeling that someone will be hollering bingo before i get back on late Monday................I am assuming you would "love" to watch my card.............sending you a dmail (LOL)

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

gess
if Lin cant do it i can just lmk

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

thanks, Moretz..........................let me see the response from the dmail...........thanks again...........

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

(Zone 1)

Gail: Of course I will watch your card! You have a safe trip ... take good care of yourself and your son. I know he will get better with Mama there taking care of him and I hope you are still taking antibiotics so you don't get worse, especially if your son has it too. I need to get a flu shot ... all our locar Fire Departments are offering them this week and other places too.
