Lowe's gift card dillema

(Zone 7a)

Okay, I know you girls and guys will have fun with this one. I received a Lowe's gift card for $50.00 and am (ehem) having a hard time deciding what to get with it. 8-)

So...the door is wide open on this one. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

How's your closet? Lowe's has great closet organizer items. Or, how about a shade tree (maybe three).

(Zone 7a)

If they had any plants still that were worth getting, I would have gotten something along those lines but their season here is about over. Hmmm...organizer items.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Ah, yes, clearance houseplant season!

Fifty bucks. Hmm. Winter approaches. Utah. Cold.

A space heater. ;-)

I hear power tools calling your name.

I HAVE been looking at attachments for our weedwhacker. And houseplants...making a new space for them shouldn't be too hard. LOL maybe some succulents...and the Xmas items are out now.

Lets hear some more...

drill bits, pvc sprinkler parts, grinder discs, and batteries...not necessarily "fun" things, but good to have on hand when you need them !

(Zone 7a)

Oh my gosh!!! Grinder bits and batteries; we always need those. We have enough of the other stuff. Looks like I'll be taking my checkbook with me, too!! LOL

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

How about you buy something for US?

LOL. Just kidding.

Excellent idea, Wuvie !

Drills bits all around!!!

Hmm....frivolity or practicality....that *is* the question, LOL!!

Myself, if they had nice plants, that is what I'd buy....but we had some power outages during the flooding that occured in August, so the next time we have some extra cash, we've decided to get a fuel-powered space heater, so I'm with wuvie on that idea.

Rugs. I'd buy rugs. Indoor, outdoor, it doesn't matter. I think I have a rug fetish that will never be quenched. Nothing can spruce up a room or outdoor area (porch, sun room) like a new rug...it can even change the whole seasonal feel of the room. But, that's just me.

Have you checked out what they have online? There's a nice selection of planters...and you could dream all winter about what you want to put in it and come up with a fantastic plan!

Gift cards are for frivolity, definitely... practical purchases you can do on a regular erranding run. :-)

Planter... fountain pump... bird bath or feeder... bulbs for fall planting...

(Zone 7a)

I do have a DGer sending me MG seeds. I should get a pot for it and a trellis. Anybody know how big they get? So I know what size pot?

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Do you start plants from seed? How about holding onto that card until they have seed starting mix and other supplies available? Then your new seedlings would cost you practically nothing!

I do start from seed on some plants so I have my answer.

Here's what I got. I was lucky they still had one.

Lowes=Home Depot.
Home Depot=Lowes Dah!

They both have pretty much the same products. Maybe different brand names--but still the same. Policies may differ a bit.

I work for HD--sad to say nowadays. Not much great stuff going on there. If I got a $50 gift card (and you know-they never expire) I would wait until Spring and use it on gardening stuff.

Right now? Not much on sale--never is. You could wait until the X-Mas clearance time and stock up on lights and decorations.
Or you could buy Garden Soils/Potting mixes/Seed stuff NOW and not have to worry about them in the Spring.

I bought 6 bags of MG Garden Soil last week on sale for $2.97. Reg. price--$4.19. I thought it was a good savings. HD will no longer do the "Broken bags" on a palate thing. GONE!!! They are all going down "the chute". WHY? I don't know! So many people would be buying the broken bags, as they always have, to save money.
Waste-----waste----------waste-------- seems to be the norm.

Makes me sick!!!!!!! Barf........

I picked up a somewhat smaller version of that greenhouse at Marc's last year. They're very handy.

(Zone 7a)

This one is going to be handy as well. I already have things in it.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Great choice - you did good!

I have one too, don't know what I'd do without it.
