Hey! I think it worked! You guys will have to let me know for sure later. I'm going to go eat Chinese! Have a good evening everyone

Congrats Cat, you just progressed on the experience level here at DG. Now you can teach some of the rest of us Newbies (and techno-wannabees!!!)

I've been working like crazy outside and not paying NEAR enough attention to what I'm eating. I'm expecting to reap what I have sown tomorrow at the scale!

(Cathy), MO

I've actually done pretty good this week. Chinese tonight probably wasn't the best idea, but it sure was good!
I knew you could copy a URL or another thread to a post, so just tried to do a double copy and it worked! There's probably a much easier way to go about it though.
Hey Deb, how did you do this week?

I lost another lb. Probably if I hadn't of pigged out last night, it might've been 2! :-)
How did everyone else do?

Hi you guys, actually I'm very proud of myself. Made Herbie's soup & have been enjoying it. Haven't got to the fruit/"Fit for Life" book yet but my husband came home Friday night from hunting since last Monday and we talked about it and he agrees that we will give it a try. I'm going to Costco on Tuesday so will have my list of fruit, etc. to start the new plan. I have not exercised like I committed to and am disappointed by my laziness. After my dr visit with the orthopedic dr on Friday with the discussion as to how being obese is accelerating my arthiritis I'm truly determined to get motivated and stop this procrastinating. I do want to give myself some credit, tho, I have consistently taken the supplements I commited to last month and have really noticed an improvement. Not much, but better. I have never stayed with supplements in the past 'cause I would get an upset stomach so this time I ignored any quiesiness and got over it...Cat, you're awesome, techno-weenie + a diet guru. Congrats on the loss. Deb

cat - good going. i think i know how to do it now. one lb is one lb.

i lost 2 pounds from the orignnal 5 i have gained so i am happy.

someone asked what we do for munchies at night i think. you can buy those 100 calorie snacks at walmart or just about everywhere. they ususally come six packas to the box and some of them are snyder pretzels, lorna doone cookies, ritz mini crackers and dozens more. if i get hungry i take one and have it with a cup of coffee.

i think its important to also talk about the schedule we keep. i go to bed pretty early cause i get up early and i thnk this is a big help as far as having snacks at night. i am in bed by 8.30 most nights so i don't get the hunger pangs that happens when i used to stay up late.

Good luck Deb! Sounds like you are getting motivated!

My schedule is up at 5:30,
to work by 7
home around 5
flop on the couch in brain-dead mode for 30 min or so
get up fix something for dinner
clean up
look at mail, maybe tv for a couple of hours or DG now!
Shower between 9 & 9:30 and to bed around 10.

I don't normally have too much trouble in the evenings. By the time dinner is done, there isn't but maybe 3 hrs left until I'm in bed. Seems like my worst times are at work. I sit at a desk all day, and it can get super stressful at times. It's hard to not go get a combo for lunch, just to feel better! Comfort food! And sometimes someone will bring in donuts for breakfast. Work is definately my challenge!

cat- try taking a homade soup for lunch or tuna with some lettuce with a bit of dressing.

(Cathy), MO

I know Frank. Bringing lunch would solve the problem. I'm just lazy I guess. Besides the fact that I don't really like cold sandwiches! I have tried bringing some Lean Cuisine frozen meals and that works out ok, but some days I just need the 30 min to get out of here for lunch. A break to keep from screaming! LOL.
I'll figure something out. I know that's one of my triggers! Stress lunch! ;-)

cat - how many days is "some days" if its once a month thats fine but when you start getting into 2 days a week then you will have problems. urely you have a micowave or stove where you work. you don't hve to have cold sandwiches. a nice bowl of hot homemade vegetable soup with shrimp is a great lunch.

psych - thanks for that link. will ask my wife if she is interested but i think she will be.

heres two great sounding soups that i found in a magazine. i have not tried them yet but i plan to very soon.

oriental chicken soup

in a large sauce pan, combine 4 cps of chicken broth, 2/3 cups of orzo, 1 pound of cubed boneless chicken breasts, 4 minced scallions, 2 tbls soya sauce, 2 tbls of cider vinegar or rice wine vinegar, 1 tbl of minced fresh ginger and 2 tsp of sesame oil.
bring to a boil, reduce heat and cook 5 minutes. add 4 ounces of trimmed and juliened snow peas. cook 54 more minutes or until orzo is tender and chicken cooked. makes about 4 servings

escarole and whie beans soup

cook 1/4 lb of crumbled sausage or diced bacon in a saucepan about 5 minutes. drain and discard excess fat. add 1 pound of chopped escarole and 2 minced garlic cloves. cooking about 3 minutes or until the escarole wilts. add 4 cups of chicken broth, bring to a boil, reduced heat and simmer for 5 minutes. mash half or all of the 15 ounce can of rinsed and drained cannellini beans with a fork, then add all the beans plus salt, pepper and red pepper flakes to taste. bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 5 o 7 minutes. serve with grated parmesan cheese. makes 4 to 6 servings.

enjoy
