Of course they are ALL gorgeous - your's too, ultimateshopper! Is that a triple, or what? Lovely! My fav's of Matt's #ered ones are 5, 28, 36, 55, & 60.... I have to admit, I've been staying away from this forum... I brought everything to the basment to winter over and unless I do some MAJOR cleaning out/yard sales, I have minimal room left to winter over tropicals... this makes me sad... I'm moving to FL. Anybody have any leads on a job down there?? I do still have a meager "will have" list, but I'm having to limit myself. Woe is me. :)

Hi AuntB! - I'm not sure what my orange is - I've had it for about 7 years now and it's always blooming and putting on a show!

Tulsa, OK

I LOVE Matt's plants! I can't wait til 08 - I'm starting a "hibiscus fund" to prepare my wallet for next year.

I'm sooo sad - I tried to order "Ten Thirty Seven" from Matt and he's out. Not only is it a wonderful bloom but it's also the house number of the place my hubby (of 18+ years) shared when we first got married. I havn't seen anyone else offer it. - have any of you?

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I don't remember ever seeing one by that name on his website, but if it's listed there then he'll probably have more sometime in the future--if he's out right now it's probably that the ones he has are still too small to ship, or maybe he needs to start a new batch of them. But if you try again in a few months he may have them (unless he wasn't ever planning on producing it again, and he probably would have told you that if that was the case)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed - it's not listed on his site - I think he may have had it for a show or left over from a show. Just sent an e-mail asking him if he will be producing again so I'll know if I should be totally devastated or not! :)

Cat - what does the bloom on Suave look like? I've done an online search & all I find are hair products :)

Nederland, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi Ultimate shopper. Here is a PIC of Suave for you.

Love Matt! - He's soo nice! He turned the nursery upside down (jk), looked in every nook & cranny & found me the very last Ten Thirty Seven that he has! I'm sooooo happy - guess he's kinda a sentimental guy like myself! He's not planning on growing any more so I do feel so lucky! I'm a definate fan! :)

Cat - I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your latest treasures that you picked up. There's alot of names that I've never seen before (and can't find on web) so I'm anxiously awaiting your newbie picts! :)

Hi Cat4gp,

I am new here, please allow me to come in.

You flower is so beautiful. Are there any seeds for sale?

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Chia, welcome to the forum! You'll be addicted to these soon just like the rest of us! There are places that you can get seeds (at least here--not sure about in Malaysia). If you're hoping to grow one of these pretty tropical ones from seed though you're out of luck--they won't come true from seed, if you want one just like that you have to start it by cuttings or grafting

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Liz, thanks for answering the question. Haven't been on line in 2 days, reworking the garden, lol. Even if they did seed, I wouldn't know what to do. I'm a newbie also. Only been growing hibiscus since February of this year.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

That's funny--that's probably about when I started to get hooked too! I had Kona and Celia and Peggy Hendry before that, but then sometime early this spring I started drooling over some of the other ones and before I knew it I had a ton of them!

Hi Ecrane3 and Cat4gp,

Thanks for the information. Ya, in Malaysia I cannot find any tropical hibiscus seeds for sale or for trade, although hibiscus is our national flower. Another difficulties for me is that, it is not easy to import cutting or plants from oversea. That is why I kept on seaching for seeds.

This is one of my plant, seeds from US.

What a beautiful plant, did you grow that one from seed?

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

THAT is gorgeous, Chia! Welcome to the hibiscus forum... Kyle (Eclipse) does a lot of seed starting, I think.... maybe you don't care if they are just like what Matt is crossing and grafting for us, you just want some pretty ones? Do they have any hibiscus growing natively, there?

Kuching, Sarawak,, Malaysia

Ya, these plants are planted from seeds given, the same package of seeds come up with different colors.

We have local (native) hibiscus, our hibiscus is said to be different variety than Hawaii, but most of the plants here are single color, either red, yellow, orange, white, some are as small as 1 inch. But we have very few hybrid plants, just like Cat4gp plants. The hybrid hibiscus that we have in Malaysia, may be was bought in from other country, as such the variety is not many, for example Thailand.

Welcome Chia,
Glad to have you here. Obviously, we are all hibiscus lovers. Kyle (eclipse) is definately the best one to speak with about seeds. He grows a lot of beautiful tropicals from them.
Kyle, where are you????

Kuching, Sarawak,, Malaysia

Ya, I appreciate Kyle can give some advise.

This is torchure Don't cha know!! LOL.

I just found his web site, and ordered, received some awesome beauties.

Some of those aren't going to be available till 2008 I already have my list on paper going to check the site in january

I absolutely love that irish spring. I noticed that there were 2 pics onhis web site one was green and the other one was yellowish/green. I have a thing for green flowers, this one really caught my eye.
