Eleanor, You are fantastic!
See folks in about 13 hours!
Oct 6th RU - at Logees
4 hours and counting ....
Not that we are excited or anything!
Not me, no sir, I'm not excited, I slept VERY well (from maybe 11pm - 4 am)! less than four hours by the bedroom clock....
I think you have a strange bedroom clock!
It's purposely kept very fast. I always make adjustments for it and end up UNDER-estimating the time, which is why I'm always late. (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)
Oh no Dave, I see what you meant. I was saying "less than four hours until I see you at 85Main!
Oh! I thought you were a little groggy still.
Got up early, bright and wound up...
See you all at Logee's RoundUp!
Okay - well, I will be driving the 1989 Found on the Road Dead pick-up, which DH assures me will get me to CT and back - if I am not on the restaurant, then I am broken down somewhere . . .
Cheers,
Michaela
Well, Michaela, it's not THAT far for you! You can... well, you can HITCHHIKE, if necessary.
x, Carrie
Have fun guys!
It's about 1.5 hours from my place. DH has gone to fuel the truck. I will leave as soon as I load up the truck.
I am bringing my binder with my garden plan and my seed lists.
We will all be thinking of you, Victor.
OK, here I go, off to have FUN, FUN, FUN, FUN without Victor!
Oh, Michaela, thanks, I want to bring my seed box!
Back from the RU, in the air-conditioned comfort of my bedroom. Logee's has tons of beautiful exotic, tropical plants - and the very HOT and HUMID greenhouses to grow them. I couldn't stand the heat (your cue for a crack about getting out of the greenhouse, Victor lol) so I left Harper to say goodbye for me. Besides, I had the back of the pickup filled with plants (generously supplied by DG members) sweltering in the heat, so I HAD to leave and get these new babies into the shade :-)
The food and service was great! The company was EVEN BETTER! What a great group we are! Dave47 is just as clever and witty as you imagine, Candyce brought her lovely daughter, Anne, Cat and Harper were delightful (as usual), Carrie and I are thinking of starting our own "radical forum" (hehhehheh), Emily (Capecodgardner) shared lots of wonderful "orange seeds" Our beloved Kassia was late! Don S provided the prize for the DG member who traveled the longest distance (it was Hemhostaholic - Thom). I met Amy (amethyst), who also tends to a "public" garden - creating beauty for herself and other residence of the apartnment building! We were also able to expose two additional people to our delious forum - Carrie's PC (sorry - forgot her name, but she was very nice and helped me load plants in my truck), and Thom's friend, Paul. I assume Candyce's daughter already knew we are nuts!
Anyway, it was an absolute pleasure to meet all of you - some for the first time and others for the first time since June.
Thanks for making this a wonderful day :-)

Any photos, Michaela?
Yes - there are photos - but not by me - Carrie took some, as did Candyce, I believe, oh, and capecodgardener, Emily took some pictures. I expect they will be available some time this weekend. How did your day go, Victor?
Yes, Carrie and Don already posted some on a new thread. My day is going fine. My parents are here until tomorrow. Off to eat now.
Yes ... Anna knows that every one of you is nuts!
Emily, Emily, how could I forget Emily? That's her name, EMILY!
ok, so the 2nd AND 3rd (which is 2 plant in sandwich baggies) are blackberry from Cat (thanks/sorry), but what is the 1st one? In a gallon-size Ziploc bag?
Did i get something meant for someone else???

Amy:
Don't feel bad! We got home and said ... "Now what the HECK is this???".
So, to help you feel better, what is the name of the spiny plant (annual) that we got from you?
the tall one that is kinda leaning?
it's a strawflower: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/750/ .
here's one from last year.
people dry them a lot, but i never have...
Nope. Not the tall one. The one in the terra cotta pot. The plant looks spiky, not the flower. BTW we got some seeds today from the straflower. That should be interesting to grow. Was it an easy plant?
portulaca. i think it will make seeds. it likes sun. (so does the strawflower)
i grew strawflowers from (purchased) seed this year, and i think every single one came up. (Nothing else worked out that well!) At one point i had like 30 in about 1.5 sq feet. Everyone i know got at least one seedling from me it seems!
i like them - though i don't see many around (except mine!)
: )

I dry strawflowers every year... very easy to do.... cut when 1/2 open and hang upside down in a cool place.... good to go
Did anyone take any pictures of the RU??
Hi Anita!!!!
yes, we took pics... check the thread "Hot off the press"...
LOL "did anyone take pictures"
found it -- thanks.
Have camera ... will travel
Since October 6th has been put to bed,
Perhaps its time to unsticky this thread?
I think you're right, with rhyming and all,
The thread, like the temps, must realize it's Fall.
