2007 Photo contest?

Will there be a photo contest this year? And is there already a thread about it? (I didn't find one, but...)

Terry and I were talking about this a couple weeks ago, and she thought it would be fun to also make a DG calendar in conjunction with this contest. We could have 12 categories total, and the first place winner from each category will be selected for each month of the calendar...

Oh .... I am not good at photography. If I get a good photo it's just pure luck, but I want to buy a couple of calendars!! Will they be available before the holidays or can the contest begin and end in time to get a calendar made that quickly??

I was thinking and remembered that last year some people missed out on the contest.
Is it possible to put an announcement on the home page when the contest begins?

The goal is to have the calendars available before the holidays (in time for gift giving ;o)

Kin, the announcing of it is a to-do for Dave. (I make the suggestions, he makes 'em happen *grin*)

If that's the case, we need to get the contest underway ASAP.

I'll do everything I can to get the contest launched today so we can all start adding our photos! Same categories as last year, I think.

I think the same categories (if there are 12 of them) and same limits on number of submissions...yes, it was hard for some submitters to pare down the final photos to submit, but it sure made the voting go faster and easier, and I think the feedback was overwhelmingly in favor of doing it that way for future contests.

Yes, I agree completely.

We had 13 categories yesterday (12 plus a "Miscellaneous" category). We also then had a "2006 Best of Show" which made a 14th category.

I think we can stick with that, but leave the Misc. winner out of the calendar. Alternatively, we can just not have a Misc. category.

Can novice's send photo's? And can one person submit photo's to different catagorie's? Is there a link to the thread from last year so I can go read up on this? Rules, etc?

plantladylin, no duplicates allowed - each photo should be uploaded into only one category (in other words, don't post the same photo to multiple categories, please).

Thanks Dave! I didn't mean submitting the same photo to differen't catgories. I meant could one person enter a photo say of annual's to the catagory with that name, a photo of pets to that catagory etc.? I wasn't sure if each person was limited to entering just one photo to the contest and they had to decide which catagory they wanted to enter. Thanks for the link ... I'm going to check it out!

Ahh, yes, of course, you are welcome to submit photos into as many categories as you like!

Well, a thirteenth (miscellaneous) category could mean we have 12 months photos, plus a cover shot ;o)

Make the Misc one that allows photo enhancement to show ones creativity. I like to make mine look their best.

Has it been suggested that all the winners, whose photos will be used in the Calendar, could receive one of the Calendars FREE as a prize?
