Oh, was there only one peppermint? Was going to ask for it myself.
Now that I CAN come (!!!!!), here's what I could bring:
coreopsis moonbeam
spearmint
leftover seeds from wintersowing - I didn't use nearly as many as I bought
I have one named hosta: Guacamole. It's large and healthy, so if anyone wants some, I'll try to divide it.
Lots and lots of different unnamed achillea
if anyone wants, I could dig up some tequila sunrise columbine - I've got sooo much
fall RU: who's bringing what?
Amy, I'd love some bath's pink, too! what can I give you? I didn't browallia had seeds - I'll take some - do they come true?
Seandor, if I bring my dahlias (in their pots) will you take them and leave me with the pots? To the RU or the brunch....
Printed out directions to 85 Main!
i'll dig up another piece of the peppermint with roots - i don't know much about viability. i haven't had much invasive trouble with it - oregano is the evil one - from before i lived here.
i'll bring you bath's pink too. i have lots of little pieces. Warning. Mine NEVER blooms. (what! never? well, hardly ever...) it grows like crazy though.
my browallia has little pods that look like MG pods. i have very few - mostly i deadhead everthing away. i just didn't do such a good job with the MGs. Does your garlic bloom? Is it pretty? i have no interest in eating it.
the 2 potted strawflowers i have - one is yellow/red, the other is dk. pink/white. They've been potted for months, and bloom just fine. (Early in the summer, i had THIRTY of them. In about 1.5 sq ft. EVERY seed i planted must have come up. It wasn't even a whole pack. Sure didn't happen with anything else! Everyone i've ever met got strawflowers from me.)
What color is your achillea? How big? i like the pics of your columbine, but i don't know where i'd put it. But, if you're digging anyhow, i'll take some and figure it out later.
: )

its almost here!
carrie - also some of your spearmint please!
No trouble Amy - if I can rind enough pots to travel with! Heck, I'll use paper cups or something. Tequila was very lovely and VERY tall, even rebloomed. This spring I'm going to cut it back before it gets so big, somebody told me to do that. My spearmint is in a POT! I strongly recommend you do NOT let it out!!! It will take over the world if you let it. May I have some oregano too?
The achillea - we didn't keep track of what we planted where. The one I'm looking to put up for adoption is pink/rose/russet, shorter and clumpier than the tall white/yellow type. I want to move it anyway, so i'll just bring it along. Yeah, I have a dianthus that doesn't bloom too!
It sounds like we are bring an NEG Nursery tomorrow!!
Where are we doing the swapping? 85 main? Because i don't think I'll stay for the logees part. Look here, I have to go back to sleep!
xx, Carrie
I just checked the forecast for 85main. The weather will be 82 degrees for a high, with partly cloudy skies, and a 20% chance of precipitation. There, now I know what to wear!!
What're you gonna wear? I'm assuming it will be colder inside 85Main than outside! (I hate AC.)
Logee's will probably be warmish - being a greenhouse. I'd say layering over NE T-shirts is the uniform of the day.
Ok...now this message is going to be long, and I hope by the end you all are salavating in anticipation...I did go nuts, but with reason...I absolutely HATE...H A T E...throwing any of my plant children out...so, with that as a prefix, I am bringing the following...*and anyone that is feeling bad about not bringing much, I am not trying to guilt you, I am that over joyed, that happy, that glad, and about bursting at the seems, to know, that other folks will take care of my plant kids* I suffer from plant empathy...except for weeds:
A whole butt load(not sure what that actual measures) of Ipomea tubers (about 3lbs worth!!!)
A grouping of some interesting coleus(I'll bring bags/baggies and scissors for those of you who want cuttings)
2 clumps, although small, of Hosta 'Whirlwind'
A few clumps of Hosta 'Frances William'
A few HUGE, GINORMOUS clumps of an unknown heavily crimpled/quilted, and large green Hosta
Several, large, and smaller clumps of Hemerocallis 'Always Afternoon'
Several large and small bulbs of elephant ears
Several, I believe 4, clumps of Variegated Solomans Seal (Pologonium(sp?))
2 Begonia 'Palomar Prince'
1 Begonia 'Happy Laughter' ( I think that is the name of it)
Several, I think there are about 7 or 8, LARGE clumps of Coreopsis 'Zagreb'
2 tiny, but rooted, Plecanthrus 'Mona Lavender'
1 clump, although it's made up of several smaller clumps, black mondo grass
2 roots of Glory Vine
and...this part I'm totally and completely embarassed about...especially to Victor...
I divided my dark daylilies, and put them in a box, along with my agapanthus...for some reason, the clumps look very similar...so...with that being said...Victor I've sent off a box to you, that is a mixture(possibly) of the two.
And to everyone else, it's up to you what you want...lol
That is all...unless I go out to my beds and start to hack away again...lol
Until tomorrow...
Thom
Can someone please send me the thread for where we all will be eating tomorrow? thank you, thank you, and thank you!
Well, I put the following in little plastic pots:
a lump of columbine TS roots for Amy
a lump of achillea roots for first come, first serve (I don't know what kind, NOT summer berries, unless they are, and not white or yellow, maybe fuschia, or some color like that.
I'll take SOME of your unknown heavily crimpled/quilted, hosta and maybe some black mondo grass (all my hosta, even my solo named variety, is boring (are boring?))
xx, Carrie
Thom - any trailing coleus? I only recently learned there was such a thing!
There are several pieces...I think...THINk, it's 'Garnets Robe' think...
i have:
several bath's pink bits
grandpa otts seeds
2 pieces of black peppermint (seandor & carrie)
browallia seeds? (carrie)
a pot w/some oregano (carrie but there are several pieces in the pot)
a couple small coleus - dark color
a 3" pot of nana coreopsis
i think i am getting:
black eyed susans (dave)
rose campion (seandor)
TS columbine & spearmint (carrie)
QAL seeds & blackberry plant (cat)
black sweet potato vine & dark daylily (hem)
Hem, i'd also go for some of your plentiful coreopsis, a piece of always afternoon, solomons seal, and black mondo grass, if all are not already claimed
Tell me if these are surprises to anyone please!
this is exciting!

Oh dang, Amy, i forgot to get your spearmint ready. I can always just yank out a piece and wrap it in a damp towel if I run out of time, OK?
Ladies and germs, WHERE are we swapping???? I'm not planning to join you at Logee's, just 85Main.
xx, C
Thom:
85main.com is where we will be lunching. It's in Putnam. See you at 11:30!!!
Anyone else want sweet autumn clematis besides Seandor?
Me! Me!!
Can I plant it now?
I dunno, i forgot Michaela wanted it until just now! I'm just gonna cut some off and wrap it wet paper towels - what you do after that is up to you! I'd try to get some with roots except there are so many things living on that stump, it's hard to tell which is which. Maybe I can get DH to help...
Thom, That is pretty exciting stuff. I would be interested in a few things if they are unclaimed.(coreopsis, pologonium)
I will have extra black-eyed susan and lamb ear. Not too exciting.
There are only a few things I don't have multiples of. I should, SHOULD have enough for everyone. If not, I can always come back home, repot, and send it...lol. I tried soaking everything, and have everything all packed up in bags/with damp/wet shredded newspaper for moisture, this weather has stuff looking like crap, pardon the french. Best looking so far are the clumps of 'Always Afternoon' and the hostas...I don't think I've ever seen hosta divisions look like crap though...lol.
Sweet autumn clematis...me me me...if you have any extra. I have a new deck, and Paul just told me his favorite plant, next to Iris, is clematis.
I'm gonna have to stock up on allergy meds for the ride up...lol
See you all tomorrow...or is it today? Nope, just looked at the clock, tomorrow.
Plant-wise, I'm only bringing a few houseplant divisions. . . but I'm bringing lots of seeds. . .
See y'all tomorrow!
It's today!! Yippee!!!!!!!!!!
Kassia ~ you chose a perfect day for the RU!!
Oh lord, Thom, I have scades of Sweet Autumn. It's not much like a big-flowered clematis, it's this:
Carrie, I'd love some too. In less than 4 hours ;^)
