I bought a holly fern and a pink snowberry bush at Dragonfly. I bought a gorgeous "champagne smoke bush" at Savage Plants. At Valley nursery I started to drool when Melissa and I found the "Sad" plant section, 50% off! I found a bear's breeches and Phlox 'David Lavender.' Plus they had a special on peonies 2 for $15, so Melissa and I each bought one. They where normally $34 each! In addition to all of those great deals there "Proven Winners" annuals where marked down from $3.99 to $1 so I spent $10 and will split them and overwinter in the greenhouse. What a fantastic day!
Little and Lewis field trip
Yes, Tillysrat, when I say I have 'plants' for people, I generally mean that I have LOTS of plants for people. Why should I throw them away? And I cannot just let them get bigger and bigger.
Careful with:
Petasites 'golden palms'. It will go rampant on you if it gets plenty of water. Don't let it get out of hand.
Lysimachia clethroides - gooseneck lysimachia. It does spread, but I love the flower that looks like a goose head. It's worth growing, but you have to watch it a bit or give it plenty of room.
I don't think there is anything else in there to worry about, but dmail me if you have any questions.
Dont worry I will let you know if I am not sure.
Thank you
From my Heart
God bless and good nite.
Hey Pix Cant find your tread, I started one.
What a marvelous day you all shared, thank you for vicariously sharing with me. Yeah, I was gung-ho to go Saturday night then had one of those no-sleep nights. Bah! Kept thinking 'til about 8:30 I might be able to handle it but then realized there was no point inflicting my fuzzy/grouchy self on others. Not to mention I wasn't sure I could be alert enough to drive safely.
Keep the comments and photos coming. I'm on the edge of my seat. LOL
I'm already looking forward to a spring trip!
I had a blast! And got so many great plants. Dragonfly is an amazing nursery. I'll definitely be making trips back there. Savage was also a really nice nursery. Different than Dragonfly but their fall trees and shrubs were pretty awesome.
Hey, Carole, what was the question I was going to find out from the master gardener speaker?
Gwen
Uhoh. Darned if I can remember - lol! I'll keep trying to think of it (don't hold your breath, though!).
Hi Tilly,
thanks for asking, I'm getting better. I'll still be stiff for a couple more days, but it's getting better.
I'm really bummed that I couldn't go and didn't get to meet all of you! Sounds like you all had a terrific day, and like I need to make a trip to Dragon Fly farms.....
Murmur, I still need to get you your tree! How are we going to do this?
We did have fun. And it was so great to meet the new people and see 'old friends' again. We should get together more often. Melissa, you really need to do a leaf class!
Gwen
Susybell and Murmur - You guys are coming to the Green Elephant swap, right? You can do the tree exchange there.
Gwen - I second that on the leaf class. What do you think, M? That would be a blast.
Windy here tonight - everything blowing around. The lawn looked okay at 7:00 p.m. Now it's dotted all over with leaves. Should lose quite a few more before the night is over. Wonder how raking in the dark will go tomorrow night? LOL
