Is your picture file really big? Sometimes it'll have trouble with really large picture files, you might try resizing your pic and see if that helps.

I posted the same pic on the AV forum last night with no trouble..........I don't know anything about resizing??????? I am just doing it the same way I always have................

Maybe it's just a temporary glitch in the system, I'd just try again later. If it uploaded to the forum then it should go through dmail too.

I tried a couple of more times..............i will wait a few hours and try again.............thanks

gessiegail, if you haven't cropped anything off your pic then it will be a large file size, even taking a small amount off the edges can reduce the file size to something manageable. I found with a file size of over 2MB it would reduce to at least half or much less, depending on what there was in the picture. Cropping even more off will give a smaller file size but still can be too large to load easily. If you have a slow internet connection even a fairly large file size will upload when the traffic is low on the internet, but at busy times it can be impossible.

It took me some time to even see the picture file size! It will be listed at the bottom of the menu on the left when you single left click on a picture to bring it into view before you double click to open into a Photo studio where you can crop.

If a file size is still large it's very easy to 'resize', I just found it out myself! For a start there are different ways to view your pictures, you should see a palette of coloured squares at the top where you have your back button etc, clicking on that will allow you to choose 'filmstrip', thumbnails', etc. 'Filmstrip' is the easiest to use with a pic at the top and the thumbnails underneath. If you 'right click' ONCE on a thumbnail it will bring up a menu where you can find 'Resize pictures'. A SINGLE left click on that will bring up options for viewing on a small, medium or large screen. All you need to do is click in a box to select an option, then click 'OK' and the resized picture will be a the end of your pics. You can then check the dimensions and file size by a single left click to bring it up on the Menu at the side of My Pictures.

Gessiegail, I'm slow to load at Dave's today too. Just here. Not elsewhere.

I'm finding it a little slow when I view a picture, then want to go back, but I have uploaded a pic of 117kb to a dmail not long ago which went quickly.

Wallaby.................the only thing i know how to do with a picture i took is to crop it..........you said that helps? I will go back and crop it and see if it goes...........thanks for you kind attempt to help a lady who knows very little about a computer............thanks again

gessiegail, it not only helps, it makes the world of difference! I found I was trying to post some pics which I hadn't cropped and had trouble with timing out.

Try the 'resize' option too, the pic still looks the same at a lower resolution, i.e. the number of pixels, on a computer screen. The larger file sizes will be resized automatically when trying to upload them to DG, that can be a major job if they are very big and this is probably why you are having trouble. Check the file size as I mentioned, one of more than 100kbs will load but will be much quicker if you can keep it down to around that size. There are 1,000kbs in 1MB.

Since I am so unsaavy with computers.........I will just see if I can find the resize by lowering the number of pixels or just get in the habit of cropping...............thanks for your patience with me........

I had a lot of trouble uploading photos today. Often the operation timed out and everything was lost. Probably a temporary glitch.

(Zone 1)

I had trouble with the entire site today ... took forever to upload a page! I think it was probably just something going on with maintenance to DG. I didn't have the problem anywhere else on the net today, just here! Much faster this evening!
