Ornamental Grass and Bamboo

Eagle Point, OR

Is there no interest in DG for these versatile plants or am I missing something?

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

I am interested...I just have not got any except the invader Pampas Grass, and know even less!

Elyria, OH

Chuck, there is great interest...I have just started playing around with ornamental grasses and did not know there were so many. Ive got a friend who works in a greenhouse and have been trying to 'bribe' her into getting me a small starting of Japanese blood grass. I have seen some tall ornamentals driving to work that I have yet to identify and that is one of my new 'quests'. Maybe we could talk Dave into starting a new forum just for this topic
'ey ? :-)

I'm interested but my bunnies are more so,good munchies'LOL

If you guys page down to the thread titled "grasses" this may update you on the status of the Grasses/Bamboo forum...

I have a load of grasses and four bamboos, all growing well, cept one bamboo that refuses to grow.

I have a growing (no pun intended!) interest in ornamental grasses, and have ordered seeds to start several next year. Then with some experience, I hope to also have some knowledge, LOL!

Thousand Oaks, CA

Here in So Cal we have a number of bamboo (34 species in the yard so far) and most are doing OK.. some a monsters, though! Most of the ones we grow are clumpers, but a few runners have been planted lately, and rhizome-barriers in place.. hope they work!

One of the suggestions I sent to Dave for the plants database is to add a category for grasses and bamboo :)

Greenlawn, NY(Zone 6B)

Hi everyone

I am a fan of ornamental grasses. Would love a forum for them.

I am just starting to get into the grasses but Chuck you might want to get in touch with Badseed a member here if your looking for trades shes really into them and has several kinds..... and is always looking for new ones. If you have the black mondo grass I would love a start of that.Let me know so we can work something out.

I created the new forum tonight.

Dave also created a category for Ornamental Grasses and Bamboo in the plants database. I've moved several items in the Poaceae family over into it, but I could sure use some "experts" to add more items, and/or identify existing entries that rightfully belong in this category. If you spot something that needs to be re-classified (and it isn't an entry you created), please let me know and I'll get it moved.
