~Brenda
Brenda, what can I say but thank you so, so much!!! The plants you sent are incredible! I was so excited to unwrap them all. How did you know I've been desperately wanting a scented strep? :o) The episcias are gorgeous and I'm so excited to add the AV's to my growing collection! I wasn't expecting to receive so many rooted plants. It's inspired me to think that maybe I really will be able to be grow the plants I'm trying to start. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
~Melissa
Your welcome Melissa! I checked out your trade list of haves and wants and I just happened to have an extra small scented strep :)) I smell the faintest hint of roses when they bloom. The bloom has to ripen for a couple of days before you smell anything, just so you know!
Enjoy them!
~Brenda
Hi Nancy;
So glad they all arrived in good condition & you liked them.iT's what i mostly grow.I would just keep the cuttings covered until theey are established, which is in a couple weeks, then grow them likee your violets.
mrsbonnie
The pictures are just great of everyone's swap.................this holiday this past Monday has messed up a lot of mailings...............i sent mine out on Tuesday morning early................i think a lot of other people did, too...........................
Gail, your wonderful box has arrived. I was so excited I've done not much of anything except to tend to these new additions since I got home tonight.
and what a lovely assortment of healthy plants and leaves. I got:
Av's
Country dancer
Sunggles little dreamer
2 Noids
Little Shimmer -- can I have to tell you this beauty has stunning leaves. I'm usually not into foiliage, but this one is amazing. I'll get a close up pic of just this plant.
Then I got 2 epi's -- Yippee!! I don't have any of these Gail.
Chocolate n Cherries
Pearl Passion
And something I've never heard of,
2 leaves of Petrocosmea Menglia gensis (did I spell this right)
I am so excited to grow these plants you sent Gail. Thank you so much.
I appreciate the time you put into packing it up also.
Now I feel guilty for not mailing mine yet, but it will go out Monday morning. So my trade partner should receive it by Wed or Thursday.
cameras out of film. Pic to follow later.
Darn! I really missed a great swap.boo hoo:) Hope you do it again in the spring Nancy.
You are welcome, maureen but there is a real good chance there are no noids..........i just lose the names........I bought a lot of minis and semiminis from the man in boerne.............and lost all the tags when I potted up.................(LOL)..........once they bloom I can always match up the names..............Not sure, but think that first name is Country Romance.....
The Petrocosmea leaves are so easy to propagate .........let me show you the mama.......she blooms the brightest purple in the world...........if I don't have her mixed up with Petrocosmea flaccida...................
*********if you end up liking the plant I have several different ones.............i can send......

Hi there Nacny,I'm feeling much better.Thank you.Looking foward to a spring swap! You receive one awesome box from mrsbonnie.look peeking in and seeing what everyone got!
Thank you dispatcher1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just got my gift from you............love the all the nice nice av leaves............and cuttings to codanthes and alsobia cygnet................thanks so much..........the av leaves are outstanding choices: Lillian's Sparkle, PowWow and Kris...........again, I am a happy camper...............
Gail, I felt like I had little to trade in comparison to what the others are receiving. I hope some are new to you. You have so many beautiful plants, I'm sorta intimidated and in awe of you and the others who have so many great gessies . Priority mail was just about like regular mail . I sent them them on Wed. and thought you would receive them on Saturday. I have a daughter in the Houston area and regular packages arrive in three or four days to her. Lou
I am thinking about using regular mail myself...............I sent jannich two boxes priority last Tuesday morning............she got the first one today and still doesn't have the second one yet...............it is full of Kohleria cuttings and I am sure they will be dead!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another one went out last Tuesday morning priority and she got it today.........that is 6 days and Jan's(if she gets it at all will be 7 days )................I love my leaves you sent and the cuttings , too..........I have had them soaking in Seaweed kelp and Super Thrive all afternoon..........they are good to go now...................(sugar water does the same thing for them).......................I don't have any of the leaves you sent............and now I am going to look up in my first class what they look like (I know what Powwow looks like)...........one has very pretty variegated foliage in an unusual way (Lillian's Sparkler)............
**********edited to say that it is spelled
Lilians' and not two ll...............that is why i could find it for a while............love that bloom of white with dark dark purple on the edges .........almost a purple magenta color.........can't wait

~Brenda
wow, BRenda................what a nice nice selection...............last time i tried to send leaf pots i made a mess..................Maureen, you must share your secret of shipping.............I almost sent you some just like what you sent but was afraid to................last time Rain said that mix and babies were everywhere.................please share!!!!!!!!!!
I alway have pots of Ness' crinkle blue..........love her!!!!!!!!
I love that Sassy Sister too...................
what a nice swap to receive...........you outdid yourself, Maureen..........we will be waiting for you to tell us how to ship leaf pots..............
Well I can tell you that she rolled them up in newspaper cones stapled at the top and taped at the bottom and the packing was excellent!! There really was no way to keep all the dirt in the pots but what had spilled out was contained in the cones so it was easy then to just give each pot a really good shower!
Then I separated them out into their own pots and look at this batch of plants I now have!! And I still have some of the little ones with more than one plant to a pot!
~Brenda
Well, i have to remember this............i could have done the same thing for Maureen if I had known how to send...........darn it!!!!!!!!!!! Well, now I know.................and i think they are so much fun to separate babies........and pot up...............
Wow Brenda what a great box you received... they all look Wonderful : )
Gail the leafpots you sent me awhile back were wonderful! You packed good...Just a quick rinse off of a little dirt and they looked marvelous! I don't think it would be possible to send them without at least a little mess..but like I said..they clean up easy : )
That is good to hear, cedarnest............because I just love to grow.............
Oh Brenda, I'm so happy they arrived in good shape. I was afraid of what the babies would look like. I kept my fingers crossed.
Gail, I packed mine the same way Bluebird greenhouse packs their plants, I roll in newspaper, then fold the bottom over and scotchtape and then fold the top over and staple. it works excellent for larger plants, the leaf babies were sent on a prayer;-)
Brenda, I am so happy you were pleased with the package. You are going to love Anteater strep. It is just as the picture shows it, beautiful!! I would love to see pirates treasure when it blooms, I just don't have the room for the large av's -- I try to stick with the minis and semi minis - I only have a couple standard av's.
What a fun swap. Can't wait till the next one.
good idea marueen.......I will do that next time..........
I'm hoping to get mine soon. Our weather is turning chilly and I hope they don't get too cold. Anxiously awaiting......Lou
Lou - I wonder who has you? You must be jealous watching us all get our plant babies. HOpe yours arrives very soon.
Lou..To my understanding yours is being shipped this week.Your sender hasn't been feeling well...It should arrive soon..
Mrsbonnie have you received yours yet? Please dmail me if you haven't and I will contact your sender.
I think you two are the only ones left to receive
Thanks, I figured that with the number of people having the "crud" that she ,or someone in the family had it. My DH has it and can't seem to get over it. I'm hopeing and trying not to catch it from him. Lou
Lou..Alot of elderly folks at the nursing home I volunteer at are suffering with it...I keep a supply of something called airborne on hand at all times and I swear by it..Whenever I know I am going to be out amongst alot of ill people I take one and so far I have been able to avoid catching it...knock on wood..lol Hope your hubby is able to kick it soon and it just decides to leave you alone : )

The sunkist rose has a tad of yellow in it....very pretty......
bluepoppy, start hanging around more often on the AV forum. We have so much fun and I don't think I have gotten to know you yet.
gessie..I don't have near the AV that you do.......and I just realized recently that I live about 1 hour from the violet gallery and soooo I went shopping for MrsBonnie and me...Did I have fun or what?????? And I will be a return customer.......
Please don't tell me you live near the Violet Gallery!!!! Now I am not familiar with the Violet Gallery. Do they sell leaves, plants or both?
No wonder you came home with such names. I have to know more about this place called Violet Gallery. We may have to make you our personal shopper (LOL)
Yes I live within one hour of the Violet gallery.........And they sell leaves and plants just of the AV's...They also do mailorder and shows...They had a show in New york over this past weekend...........I think they have a web site also.....well I know they do as that is how I found them.........ALot were not in bloom...thank goodness LOL....but enough were to make me want to buy buy buy...LOL
