Jodi also has a website here:

I would recommend Heuschkeliana :) She's absolutely beautiful both in flower and not. Easy to grow and small leaves :) The flowers smell like vanilla popcorn and are SOOO cute. After Multiflora it's a favorite of mine :)
It's up to $10.00 on E-Bay but only $6.95 on Jodi's site :) (we all love to save a few bucks...you know....for more plants *lol*).
Feel free to upload your new blooms right here!
Oh, I have lurked many times on the Secret Garden website but have never orderded from them! Now y'all are making me think I should place an order! They are located in North Florida probably about 3 hours from me! I might just have to give them a try but think I will wait until Spring. Or, should I say ... I think I will TRY to wait until spring!
Yes ... Jodie is Cowboyflowerman!
I also have the Hoya Iris Marie and although it's never bloomed (she's in a pot waaay too big for her), she grows constantly and new growth is red. It's a nice one that you can train on a bamboo hoop. I like the foliage alot :)
She's in the middle pot on the right side of the bamboo. These pictures are VERY old. She now has a pot all to herself :) I play "switch pots" all winter for something to "garden" *lol*
Lin....do you need cuttings of Heuschkeliana? I forgot that one is big enough to share if you do :)
Nice Kim! What's the hoya with the larger leaves on the ride side of the last photo you posted? Where's the best place to get the hoops?
For me, I have to like the foliage as that is what we live with most of the time. The flowers are a lovely bonus.
The one on the right is the "momma" Multiflora that I took Lin's baby from :) I have 2 more shoots I'm going to be cutting and rooting soon. Both shoots have buds on them already. I just took Lin's cuttings this spring lol*
The hoops I picked up at a "salvage" store (3 hoops for $1.00) so I'm not sure where to look for those online. I hate to say E-Bay as I'm sure there must be a cheaper/better way to get them? Maybe a local nursery? Sorry I can't help you there. The "salvage" store had hoops and fern poles this summer so I stocked up for my plants :) Fern poles were a nickel each! I almost died!
Kim
Kim: I would love cutting of Heuschk. I don't have that one. We can do another trade! You want to try DS-70 again? And, how about that variegated lipstick?
I got hoops like that from Home Depot! They had different sizes.
Here is how little I know...........I have mine all in hanging baskets..............even if they climb......can I put those climbing things in my hanging baskets for them to climb on??????
Most of my Hoyas are in hanging baskets too Gail. My oldest one that I've had since the 70's - Krimson Princess is in two huge hanging baskets ... hanging down as well as climbing and tangling around the metal hanger. I've heard that some varieties like to climb. I have thought of taking one of mine and planting it in a floor container with a trellis to wind around! Maybe next spring!
Lin, I would be happy to send you some Heuschkeliana. You want some of my variegated lipstick too? Remember, I said it lost it's variegation but it might come back with cool weather but when I purchased it it was variegated. You want some cuttings of my goldfish plant? Take a look at my picture posted above. Notice under the leaves the red "diamonds"? The one you sent me today didn't have that. I would be happy to send you some of mine if you'd like. That would give you 3 new babies to root *lol*
I think I will pas on the DS-70 though as I'm being over run with hoyas and want to try new things but thank you so much for the offer. I think I will wait and ship your cuttings on Monday though OK?
Until tomorrow, night all ..... signing off :)
Would love it Kim! Whenever you get a chance to ship is fine. Let me know if there's anything you want, okay? Wow! You say you are over run with Hoyas? What a great plant to be over run with! LOL.
Lin, I looked at those links and I can't tell if your plant is Rhipsalis or Rusellia. Either way, it's beautiful, blooms or not! I love that fine foliage!
Nancy, I'm working on a list for you, too. I don't know when it gets too cold for everyone to be receiving plants, so I'm trying to get all my trades out within the next few weeks.
Snow, thank you for the well wishes. We're getting well, and yes, it makes me appreciate feelin' good very much! LOL Bad news is, my son woke up sick this morning. Ugh... I gave him some medicine and he went back to bed. I sure hope he doesn't get it as bad as we had it.
Your DS-70 is beautiful with those red leaves! I love it! The lacunosa looks great, too, but I am so sorry that the peduncles dried up! I was so looking forward to it blooming for you!
I didn't order any Hoyas from Rob. I thought about it, but read the review, that I believe Kim wrote, in the Watchdog about the Hoyas from him and decided not to. Besides the fact that the one I most wanted was $7 and he said it was a small plant. I was just afraid to. Now that I see yours, I'm sure glad I didn't. Those are pitiful, Snow! You have every right to be angry and I would call them and demand a refund. That's just pathetic that they would think you'd be pleased to get those. I can't imagine why they'd trim the leaves like that, either. The leaves aren't that big, so it's not like they'd interfere with shipping, and heaven knows those little things need all the help they can get to have a chance to survive. You really should contact them and complain! I can assure you I'll never buy Hoyas from them. Perhaps if you tell them that several people now have major reservations about buying from them after seeing your pictures, they'll make it right for you.
I think I'll go check out Jodie's site... LOL Nice to know there's a reputable place to buy Hoyas!
Snow, I'd be happy to send you cuttings of the var. Aeschy. That was the only basket of it they had, or I'd offer to go pick one up for you.
Oh, and I meant to tell you, Snow, Peridot's Kitlope is gorgeous! Love that dark foliage and bright blooms! :o) Thanks for posting the picture!
Rain - I wish I had read the Garden Watchdog before ordering from RVB and saved myself from these rejects. Do you have DS-70?
Thanks for the compliment on kohleria Peridot's Kitlope. It's a very nice grower and bloomer. A favorite. Would you like to trade for some variegated aeschynanthus? I have been looking for an EA basket of that for over a year...no luck. Maybe next spring if I can stumble onto one? I can work on A. cuttings if you want to trade and make my own basket.
The problem is, I have two trips coming up in the next few weeks. I can't do anything till after the middle of October at the earliest.
Here are two variegated hoya Kerrii received from Jodie. Aren't they nice? They are sent in 4" pots. One has the variegation on the edges and the other is variegated in the centers. I am tempted to plant these two together. Thinking about it...not sure.
Looking forward to the MAAVS convention show Oct. 11-13 at the Holiday Inn, York, PA.
http://www.maavs.org/
Which Hoyas did you get from Rob, Snow? I still can't believe he sent you any such mess as that. Are you going to call him? I hope you'll post on the Watchdog, too.
Lin sent me a start of DS-70 in the spring. It's had a rough summer outside in the blazing heat, and something (cat, dog, squirrel??) knocked it and a couple others out of their pots THREE times. I kept moving them to a different "safe" place, but they kept getting them. Next year I'm going to figure a way to hang up every single houseplant I have outside. Here's a picture of it. You can just barely see a few new red leaves on the vines in the back.
I'd love to trade with you, Snow! You're more than welcome to cuttings of the var Aeschy. and I'll keep an eye out at Lowe's to see if they get in another one. If so, I'll snatch it up for you. The middle of October should be fine for me. I don't know what your weather is like then, but we can watch for a warm week, and I can insulate your package well, so I think it would be alright.
Those H. kerrii from Jodie are beautiful! That's what purchased plants should look like! I love those heart-shaped leaves. blue_eyes sent me a cutting of H. kerrii that has the variegation on the edges. I am falling so hard for Hoyas! LOL
I sure hope you have fun at that convention...just don't get sick right before it! :oP Wish I could come up there and go with you! :o)
I am going to try and make the Austin sale the same weekend that Snow is going to this one.................start saying prayers that i will be able to pay my bills in November (LOL).........I am being serious..............harder to say no when you are actually looking at the plant............
I sure hope you both have fun and find lots of goodies! I've got to try and find out if maybe there's another sale somewhere close enough that I can go.
Gail: Have you heard anything about Jannich? I posted Bingo for her ... she won 5th prize. JanetS was watching her card but Janet is at her daughters today and not on the computer.
Gail...don't 'try' to go...GO! After all, what's more important, plants or food?! LOL! Cut back on all the unnecessary things ;0)) My clothes look horrible but my plants are nice!
Rain...I think your DS-70 looks fine. The way it is.
I am very concerned about jannich also. I sure hope she will be or is okay.
Commonly found and grown, hoya carnosa Pink Princess...graceful with beautiful variegated leaves.
pretty Snowrose....................I am trying every way I know to find out about jannich...........called her house............sent her an email thinking she might have access to a computer at the hospital.................I feel sure her son is with her. He seems to be a very loving son to her although he lives on the east coast.
Here is how much I want to go to Austin.............stopped by a local ugly clothes store when I knew that my son and his girlfriend were coming in (I hadn't bought a piece of clothing in over a year).............all I bought were some tops.................only wore one and Monday I am taking the other 3 back to the ugly store!!!!!!!!!!!!! (LOL) I would much rather have plants than new shirts!!!!!!!!
Gail: I sent you an email at home! Do you think Jan told her son?
Thanks, Snow! :o) Your carnosa is lovely! Hoyas are so stately, aren't they? :o)
LOL Ugly clothes store... That's funny, Gail!! I've got my two Dave's Garden t-shirts. What more do I need??? LOL
LOL Rain! I agree with y'all about clothes! I have two DG t-shirts too ... the grey color that I bought when he was closing them out! I love them! So comfy and gets folks asking about DG whenever I wear one to Home Depot! I still need to go to that site and buy some in colors! And, I want to buy one of those tote bags too!
You all are way ahead of me. I didn't know about DG T-shirts. How humanitarian of Dave to offer clothes for his impoverished members. LOL!
It might be a fun thread to post ways to save money either because we don't have any because we spent it all or would like to have some to buy plants with. That is funny, Gail. So, yours is the first bright idea! Return every non-essential item purchased recently.
AND.................when I go to Beall's Department Store in Portland to return the clothes..........i will be returning 3 telephones to Walmart.....................the batteries were bad..............so I took them back...............they made me BUY 3 more batteries for 45.00 as he said all of them use cheap batteries..................they still don't work....................
I think Snow had the best idea in the world..................I am going to start a thread on ways to save money to buy plants..................are you ready???????????????? Snow, no...........you start one...............we will keep it going forever...........just look what we will learn on this new thread............
hee hee ... are we all gonna end up wearing nothing but p.j.'s, walking around talking to our plants?
Oh Wait ...... I already do that!
:)
I am still in my pajamas right now..............took a bath and just put more pajamas on.............working on separating babies today (LOL)...................i am waiting for Snow to come back and start the thread............this will be a blast............and I will learn so much on ways to save money...............................
Here's where the DG shirts and stuff are located:
http://www.zazzle.com/davesgarden
I am like snow.............didn't even know there was a site.............thanks
Hey you guys wait for me....I feel like a little kid running and trying to catch up here. LOL I just finished reading all these posts and enjoying the great pictures!! I want to come play too but have to head out once again tonight :))
Rain I think "suede" is the feeling on that DS 70!! I have bought two and almost killed them both before returning them, I don't have the knack with them and from the sounds of the smell I guess I won't miss it!!
More to say (always LOL) but have to run, see you here tomorrow with some hoya pics and some gessie pics!
~Brenda
Hi everyone,
I thought I would add my 2 cents about Rob's. I ordered Hoya's from him as well,(actually, hoya's, violets, strep's, "other gessies" etc). Although they looked pretty much like yours, they are doing wonderfully right now (I got them in March and April). I think his stuff is so small because he ship's all year, even in the winter. Lyndon Lyon does not ship in the winter, so that is probably why his are bigger, which I ordered some av trailers from there and although they were nice, weren't a whole lot bigger than Rob's.
Anyway's, hang in there, they will grow, and it's also possible they will adjust to your house better because they are on the small side.
Sandi
I too have had the experience that Rob's hoya's will grow but when for a dollar or two more (and very reasonable shipping) you can get large thriving hoyas from other sources it's not worth the wait! But it is reassuring to know that eventually you'll end up with a decent plant so thanks Sandi!
It's late but I'm back and I've been playing with some pictures I took in the last couple of days. Just yesterday I received my second order from cowboyflowerman. He grows some very nice hoyas and has very reasonable prices and really reasonable shipping when you buy more than one!
I saw a post on the hoya forum about a cumminginana and decided I had to have one :))) I ordered three four inch pots from cowboyflowerman/Jodie and this is what I received yesterday!!
~Brenda
When I had ordered from him two or three weeks ago I purchased 7 hoyas (some doubles for fuller pots) and the shipping was $10.50, now you can't beat that!!
So here is some of what I got...Chelsea which is a new small heart leaved hoya....

And h. fungi....I hope it grows as fast as several say it will....but I do love the leaves which is what guides me in picking out hoyas in the first place!
~Brenda
This is the only one I was slightly disappointed in. H. Globulosa was the most expensive and the smallest and poorest rooted. I ordered two of them and one came with a leaf broken off and then promptly lost the other leave the next day. But I have it's rooted stem in this pot with the other one so we shall see what happens. Cool leaves huh?
