From One Basket Case to Another!

Ornamental balls made of spices. Except for the one made of sweet gum balls.

Hi Yardqueen, My computer has crashed sorry I missed your baskets when you first posted. You have a fabulous collection, so many unusual ones, Thanks so much for showing them before christmas! I hope I can get to show you mine before then. I have use of this computer briefly and just wanted to let you know why I haven't been around. I hope I can get my pc fixed soon.

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

I hope you do too! That is the pits to have youor computer down! I want to see your baskets! I wondered where you were... I thought you didn't like me anymore! LOL

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, and I never did finish poting all the pics I took.. I just got tired of it!

london England, United Kingdom

Yardqueen I love you! and you have the best basket collection here so far!!
Just because I can't show you mine yet, I hope other basket cases are found!! I am sure others have unusual containers and baskets and would love to show them to us.
I must go now, hope to get back with this computer tomorrow.

BTW, some of those baskets would look lovely with flowers and things in!

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

I still have a few I haven't posted, but I don't feel up to it tonight. I am very tired and need to go to bed soon. Yes my collection is the best because it is the only one...LOL othes better get busy, and I need to finish... I am not sure if I have any really good ones left to post or not...

Issaquah, WA(Zone 7a)

Ornamental spice balls would be a dog toy here LOL or cat toy! I had the same guess karma: seed balls. I bet they smell great.

Terri I hope your computer is on the mend real quick. I, for one, can't wait to see what creations you churn out for the holidays.

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, I missed you Terri! I didn't know where you were... It made me sad and worried!

Pass Christian, MS(Zone 8b)

Speaking of baskets....I was so inspired by this forum, thought I would try my hand at my very first "real flower" arrangement! Yes, Karma, no more faux arragements for me....
Its pretty simple, but I like simple....my favorite fresh flower arrangement is as many Casablanca Lilys as I can possibly get in one vase!
But as I have a mostly tropical garden I am going to see what I can come up with on a tropical theme.

This one is of course, Pampas Grass, bambusa and some sweet potatoe....

Wanted to cut the pampas grass today, before we get the big storm thats suppose to blow through here....keep your fingers crossed for us that its only "just a storm"
Cheers

Cath, those pampas plumes look so great in your arrangement. It's a beautiful arrangement in a beautiful basket in a beautiful room with a beautiful view. Oh yeah, and cool mosaic piece.

I will keep my fingers crossed y'all in Pass Christian as well as for us in New Orleans. Who knows how the levees are going to hold up. The governor of LA has already declared a state of emergency for us....esp with all the FEMA trailers still in use here. She also has loads of buses and emergency workers and the national guard on standby. Overkill? Or a lesson learned the hard way in Katrina? Well, hope it's not too bad.

london England, United Kingdom

Cath, that is a great arrangement and fits perfectly in that location! I like your basket pot, and the foliage you have chosen complements the Pampass grass really well. Thankyou for joining in. Do you have any other baskets or containers to show us?

Poochella, sorry I won't be churning out arrangements at all for the time being.
Yardqueen, I like the second one best too! I have taken some pics of mine but have lost heart
not being able to show you anyway!
Maybe I should just count them!!

The weather has got colder here now and it feels like summer has gone. Not many flowers to see in the garden either. moan moan, ...............no laptop..moaning still..........moan moan................................moan!

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Terri, don't lose heart. It's going to be a huge flower festival when we do get to see your pictures. You are too funny with all your moaning...I completely understand. That would drive me insane. We're still pretty warm over here.

Terri wants baskets, so I found one of mine. It's not unusual, but I thought both of my Curious Georges would make it more interesting?

Karma,
WHO is the adorable child in the basket!

Terri,
Thanks for the encouraging words on the arragement, it was fun!
Where in London do you live,
Visit once a year, love London, last there for Wimbledon and Tour de France.
All the bomb scares and security are a bit much though! Not such a jolly ol England any more!
What zone would London be? I heard its getting warmer all the time....like everywhere I guess.

Cheers
Cath

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Cath, the adorable child would be my 17 month old son, a product of Katrina...... and that is NOT his name as suggested to me a million times! Thanks.

Pass Christian, MS(Zone 8b)

What is his name? He is just too cute!
See some great things came out of this storm!
C

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Cath, sorry I forgot to answer you. His name is Peyton as in Peyton Manning from the Indianapolis Colts. Yes, it was DH's idea, but I liked the name, so I agreed to it. His original pick was Yoda.....!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!

london England, United Kingdom

Hi Karma, are you sure you didn't find that baby floating down the river in that basket?!!!!joke
he looks a happy lad, there used to be a tv show called Peyton place when I was a kid, it was from America. BTW, I think it is a very unusual basket! wish my dd would still fit into something that small!!

Cath, I don't know about zones, but I live in SE25, have you been to Kew gardens or any of the flower shows over here? I love tennis too and have been to Wimbledon before, in the days of Borg and Jimmy Conners!

Yardqueen, are you ok? how about making an arrangement in one of your baskets for us?
Don't worry when I get my pc working I will show you my baskets as promised.
Bye for now, Terri

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

Karma,
Your baby is soooo cute!!! When I was a teenager my Mom surprised everyone with a baby sister... When she was about 8 or 9 mo old, I sat her in a large round basket with side handles and took a picture looking down at her. It was so cute... I wish I had that picture...

Terri,
I am fine... or as good as I can be... I will see about that arrangement... I have some roses blooming and maybe a thing or two I could add. But again, most of my flowers right now are brugs... "Peyton Place" huh??? You are telling your age... LOL close to mine I guess. Depends on how old a child you were...

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Thanks. Sorry, never heard of peyton's place, but I do remember Jimmy Conners. Terri, with all your energy, it's hard to guess how old you are!

YQ, I finally saw a brug in person at a nursery....gorgeous. They were 16.95....too much for me to risk killing it. I did purchase a datura for 3.00, but when I posted it on the datura forum, they told me it was a brug!!! How cool is that?

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

Wow, that is cool! I wonder which one it is?

Did ya'll see the pic's of some of my brugs blooming? You may have, but if not, here is a link:

Terri,

Thank you for posting sokme of your baskets! I really love the roses in the little pots!!! And I like your wooden baskets too.

All,

How have ya'll been? I think of ya'll each time I see a flower in my yard that would be good for an arrangement. I just never have enough at one time to do anything with. Most of my blooms now are brugs!

I just remembered I did not post all of my baskets lasat time. Do ya'll want to see more? Or have I done too much already...LOL

london England, United Kingdom

Hi Yardqueen, nice to be back here with you. I would like to see more of your baskets, I will show more of mine too.
About the single flowers, it's always nice to see them in a sweet vase or container, but if you don't want to cut the lonely
flowers I understand completely!
Here's a section in my greenhouse.
