Are there any bluegrass music lovers out there??

Hey, are there any bluegrass music lovers out there??
If so, which groups and songs are your favorites, and who have you seen "live"???

My top 2 favorites are: Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, and Alison Krauss and Union Station. I've seen both live, and if you ever get the chance to go see them, make sure you go. They're awesome!

September 28th, my husband, some friends, and I are going to see Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver! I've never seen them before, so I can't wait to go!

My dad played in a bluegrass square dance band in Eastern Kentucky back in the early 1950's, so I was raised on bluegrass. Here's one dad played all the time - "Cindy". Boy it brings back great memories of going to the square dances back in the hills of Eastern Kentucky….
I bet you can't keep your feet still while you listen to this one!! Enjoy!!

Loved it Glenda, thank you. I wasn't born here and only lived here 20 years. Have not been to a bluegrass festival YET, but I would love to. Just always so busy with the farmers market to do anything!!! I remember being in Massachusetts and watching HeeHaw and loving it and wishing I lived "where they lived"....ha, ha.

Now, I do and don't partake!

Thank you for sharing that.

Glad you enjoyed it!! I've watched it dozens of times, and I still can't keep from moving to the music! lol

For years I'd listened to Alison Krauss and Union Station and really didn't appreciate them.
Recently, though, I really love them!
Her voice is so pure.

I'd fallen asleep on the couch the other night and someone left the TV on CMT.
I woke up to 'Simple Love' and my first thought was 'what is that beautiful music......am I in heaven? LOL!!

There are some others I like a lot....but durned if I haven't totally drawn a blank on names at the moment!

Glenda,
What a wonderful clip!!! I loved every second of it.

Are you old enough to remember how great Bill Monroe was? If I'm not mistaken, I believe he was Ricky Skaggs "idol".

Yes, I'm old enough! lol I'm 50. ;) My dad played many of Bill Monroe's songs on his guitar. "Blue Moon of Kentucky" and "Uncle Pen" are two of my favorite Monroe songs. Don't know if you know this little piece of trivia, but the song, "Uncle Pen" is about Bill Monroes' uncle, Pendleton Vandiver.

Ricky Skaggs grew up just a few miles north of where I was born in Eastern Kentucky. He in Louisa, KY and I in Paintsville, KY. Here's a funny story for you, my cousin's wife was telling me that she worked with a girl who Ricky asked to go with him to the prom/dance when they were in high school. The girl turned him down because he didn't drive a cool enough car. My cousin's wife teased her and said, "Boy, you blew it! You could've been "Mrs. Country!"

.......Hey, if you want to see something cute and awesome, watch the following two clips of Ricky playing when he was a 'little guy' - 7 years old.

While I love Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder's music, my favorite thing about Ricky is he (knows) where his "gift" comes from and isn't bashful about telling people so. I have a lot of respect for him.

Hey, last night my husband and I went to see Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. http://www.doylelawson.com/ They were AWESOME!! Doyle is a genuine Southern gentleman. He's such a humble and kind man. If you get a chance to go see him, make sure you go! He plays the mandolin like it's no big deal.
