Mystery of the disappearing photo????

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

I started a thread in the Container forum last nite... http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/769319/#new
I went back to it and reread, edited the first post for a typo. All was as posted last nite.

This morning, it came came up in the thread watcher. I went to it and saw the first photo was missing.

Now ~ I know it was there last night before editing.

I have had this happen in the past but could not say for sure. I would think well... maybe I was tired and didn't add the photo ~ whatever.

This one I know was there.

Question is this... did the edit wipe it out?

If so, why can I not delete a photo that I want to delete, when I want to delete it?

And the final mystery question ~ where did it go? Did it get eaten? LOL the Podster

I cannot answer your question, but just wanted to say that I bet that fella is a wonderful dishwasher with that waybigo tongue! HAHAHAHA

Great photo! I hope THAT ONE doesn't disappear!

LOL Janet ~ we laugh because he is the Podster and he is camera shy. We accused him of trying to hide behind his tongue in this photo.

Just couldn't resist, looked like he may have been the guilty "photo eating" party! LOL

Well he's a handsome fella. That's for sure!

I hope the disappearing photo mystery is solved. I hate for him to be "accused" unjustly. He looks so sweet! HAHAHAHA

Well, I've always said I had "sometimers" disease ~ sometimes, I remember and sometimes, I don't. It would be nice to know I wasn't losing my mind!

I had that happen once where I lost a pic when I edited a post, I'm not sure if it always happens or if it was just that once, but I don't edit posts with photos anymore because I don't want to take any chances!

Good idea Ecrane ~ but sometimes my bobos are embarrassing. Need to proof read closer before I hit send. I never seem to catch them till they are published... lol

Alright, I'm going to try an experiment here since this isn't a thread where I would care about my picture. I'm going to post a pic, then edit the post and we'll see what happens!

Edited to see if the picture disappears...

OK, the picture stuck around! It was weird, in preview mode it didn't show the picture so I thought it was going to be gone, but it's still there! Maybe that's what happened to me last time--I saw in the preview that the pic was gone and didn't want to lose it so decided to skip editing?

So now I'm not sure what happened to yours, but at the very least it seems like something that shouldn't happen all of the time.

I was tempted to edit my first post and see if the Podster would disappear but he is charming and I didn't want to lose him!

I am suspecting if it is a glitch ~ it only happens when you edit immediately after the initial post.

I never noticed this before, but according to my screen, Ecrane's post was made at 10:55 a.m.

Yet the edit was made PRIOR to the post...

Someone else noticed something similar the other day...seems the edit time shows up in the poster's time zone, but the original time on the post shows up in your time zone because DG adjusts that depending on what time zone you're in. So when I look at my post, it tells me that I made the post at 8:55 and edited it at 8:55 (I did do it very quickly, within 30 seconds of making the original post). When you look at it, the original post time has been converted to your time zone, but my edit time shows up as the time I made the change in my time zone.

That makes sense... I suppose. Makes much more sense than you editing it prior to it being made! HAHAHAHAHA

and the mystery plot thickens... how eerie... lol

Or maybe I know how to travel back in time and just don't want to let anyone else in on the secret! :-)

I never really noticed the difference in the edit times before because most of the people who post here are in a time zone that's ahead of me, so the edit time never looks like it's in the past, but I saw it in a post just the other day from someone in Australia where the same thing happened, looked like he edited the post before he created it, and I figured out the edit mark must stay in the time zone that the poster is in rather than getting converted.

That was the first time I ever noticed it. Then again, being in my own little world here, many things escape my notice.

I am impressed Janet... that was way observant!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I noticed the time difference in the edits a long time ago. Like maybe a year and a half ago.
