Stories by Horseshoe and others

Ottawa, IL(Zone 5a)

Hey Dave
Having read several of Horseshoes tales of a southern gentleman I was just wondering. Since you have nothing better to do with your time do you think it might be of value to start a forum entitled Garden stories and Jokes?
I think we could stretch the definition far enough to include the one about the no shoes - no service. After all his bare feet were touchin' mother earth! That way we could find Horshoes stories without havin' ter dig through the times he is being serious.

Thanks,
Jack

I don't know...I kind of like the way the stories pop in at unexpected times in different places! And a search everynow and then allows me to locate any I may miss! "Shoe" can really keep me going at times!

Me? A Southern gentleman? Oh my, more shoes to fill (now do I go and buy some or something?) Thanks for the compliments ya'll, I'm really fatter, er, flattered. You're right Zany, they just tend to pop out here and there. I have no control. It's a real mess in here (he says while pointing to his head.) Any given topic can kick me in gear and then I'm racing to try and behave and not lose authority over my brain and its assorted country cogwheels. Who knows which way the wind blows!? (well, maybe our local tv weatherman does.)

Jack, I was just going to suggest the same thing, for a humor forum....things will always pop up here and there, but;
if we have one central place to check for our "funnies" then the other forums could be left open for what Dave intended them to be.

I like the way they pop up all over the place. Gets people to looking at other forums. Instead of looking just under one forum for the stories we have the opportunity to look at several just to see where one may pop up next. Who knows, just may find a story in the recipe forum, or the photo forum, or any forum as far as that goes. Makes it more interesting this way when we don't know where or when a good story will pop up.
HorSeshoe, time for another story.....please

I am kinda like everybody above I love the surprises when horseshoe decides to honor us with one his stories. I think a forum would take away from the surprise of it all.You just never know where he will pop up with a story and that makes it fun.... Just think when you go in a forum and there is a story you had no idea you was going to get.. Its great ..... I think that surprise is better than having a fourm for him to post on. I kinda figure horseshoe is an off the top of your head type of guy and couldn't do anything that was planned...

HorseShoe is HorseShoe and we love him just the way he is!!!

I have one for Horseshoe, Two little kids, laying on stretchers, in the hospital waiting for surgery. The first kid raised up, looked at the other, and said, What are you in here for? The second kid said, I am having my tonsils out and I am a little nervous. The first kid said, Oh thats easy. They put you to sleep and when you wake up they give you lots of Jello and ice cream! The second kid asked, What are you having done? The first kid said, I'm having a circumcision. The second kid said, I had that done when I was born, and I couldn't walk for a year!

ROFLOL! That was cute!

One more and I'll go quietly! A burglar crept into a house in the wee hours of the morning. Suddenly a voice rings out, "Jesus is watching you!" The burglar spun around with his flashlight, and it shone upon a parrot. "Did you say that" he asked in a quavering voice? The parrot replied, "Yes". The burglar walked over to the parrot and said, "Say, Whats your name?" The parrot replied, "Claude." The burglar, snickering said, "What kind of stupid idiot would name a bird, "Claude?". The parrot answered, "The same stupid idiot that named the pit bull, Jesus."!

If you missed it in the forum threads Dave used Horseshoe's Tomato experience as the daily quote in the newsletter today. It is great! Thanks again Shoe! I could identify with that experience 100 percent!

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh MYYY Goodness!!! That FIRST tomato...I remember it well!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Me, too, HorseShoe! I been slurpin' those bad boys for Lunch all summer. I don't know if I'll be able to stand it when the season is all gone....horrors!

Dave
Sorry to keep beating a dead horse (shoe) but I ran across a comment about a tomato story by 'Shoe while reading some other posts. I tried searching Daves Garden for Horseshoe and tomato but did not find it - even after wading through a pile of posts referencing 'Shoe. If nothing else a Forum or even a thread where his stories are moved/copied to after they have been out for a week or so. In any case how do I sign up for the newsletter since that is where they seem to eventually all appear. Lord knows, 'Shoe, I need as many laughs as I can get.
Thanks
Jack

Grazdpa_Jack, you can sign up for the newsletter by clicking on Preferences link (under "Your Pages" in the right hand column.) All the way down at the bottom is a checkbox for the newsletter.

Psssssst, Horsehoe is now branching out into the plants database. You might check and see if he's published a description for his entry yet. If not, let's encourage him to write one in his trademark, inimitable style :)

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Giggle, I have to admit I keep checking the Fig entry to see if Shoe has written it up in his "voice" yet! :}

Ottawa, IL(Zone 5a)

I bet you are really tempting 'Shoe on that one Zany! Ut certainly will be worth the wait. Think we can get him to include a picture of it in use? LOL He did come pretty close with that boy in the tub picture!

Thank you Go_Vols - as usual you are right on with the right information. Now at least I shouldn't miss anymore 'Shoe stories.

My ears were burning and I was haphazardly led to this thread. It was SO HARD to write that fig info. Was like someone else in my head making me talk all wrong. (It was really spooky...). Hopefully at some point in time I can get back and "edit" that fig post, or add to it. And guess what Grazpa...I now have a camera so watch what you wish for!! (and that "boy" in the tub pic was me!! for sure! and on the horsemule, I'm the one on the back. See, watch out now, I ain't shy!!)

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

I knew when I read it that someone or something had taken over your fingers and typed it! Do we need an exortist or do we allow this invader to stay so long as it is willing to share the "real" Horseshoe every now and again...

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

HAH!...I have purged my system of whoever it was and am decidedly destined to deviate directly down to de displaced dude I've deemed myself to be. (or was it ya'll that made me dat dude?) Anywho, I hereby solemnly swain to refuse to be someone I'm not, ever again, so help me Bert. (that's my neighbor who used to drink all my slug bait at nite.)
