Tibouchina is a beautiful plant. It doesn't appreciate my dry air in winter though. =(

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Glad they arrived safe and sound! Happy growing:)

What a wonderful gift you've received from Miss Jan ... I bet you are doing a happy dance! Those look wonderful .... can't wait to see photo's when they bloom for you!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Lin, i told her I was going to give them a good constant dose of 12-36-10 and i bet they bloom before too long!!!!!!! (if I don't kill them first from too much fertilizer) (LOL)

(Zone 1)

If they don't bloom with that ..... they ain't gonna bloom!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

promise I won't kill them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at least i will try not to..............

Cute babies. Keep us posted on the blooming.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have another sinningia that started blooming.............let me get a picture......She is Sinningia 'Mackenzie'

Thumbnail by gessiegail

Pretty pink blooms and looks like you have a lot of buds. Nice plant Gail

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Gail, That is very pretty.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I am really starting to love the larger sinningias.....................just this size is perfect for blooming and taking care of..........she can be wicked and doesn't require a glass over her like the tiny ones do............

Sinn. 'MacKenzie' is gorgeous, Gail! I think you'd like some of the micros, too, though. They're so easy to care for. With the cover, you don't need it wicked, because you don't have to water them very often.

How can you not love this? Sinningia 'Ruffled Wood Nymph'

Thanks Gail....Until I saw this thread,I thought all sinningias were teeny tiny.....I still have sooo much to learn! Love the bloom on 'Mackenzie' : )

Edited to add: Amy we must have posted at the same time..lol..OMG 'Ruffled Wood Nymph' is a cutie : )

I have to confess that I love that one,Rain!!!!!!!

LOL I knew I'd get you with that one. ;o)

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Mackenzie is beautiful Gail!!

I'm want to try one of the little sinningias in a glass container, I found the perfect container at the thrift store! So now for the perfect little sinningias......anybody have a suggestion? I'd need a fairly easy bloomer at my skill level....

~Brenda

I was writing at the same time everyone else was evidently!!! LOL

Brenda, I could send you Sinningia pusilla. It's like a weed self-sowing all over creation. Very easy to grow and bloom. Actually, I find all the micros to be very easy growers and bloomers.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Brenda...............I need to start with your name and remember all that we have talked abot.............i forget...........I will start this week by tying to think of things you have mentioned..............I can take cuttings of her....................and root them right now.........I have the worst memory if I don't mark it down somewhere........

I am going to Austin on the 11th of October..............they are having the Austin avsa sale.......and Austin is known for its plants other than the African violet..............Marjorie Bullard has told me the finest growers in the nation of other gesneriads live and grow right in Austin................no telling what i can pick up.................

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

That one sounds perfect for me Rain! I'll trade you something good at the end of the month when I get your box together!!

Gail you are too good to all of us!!! Trying to keep track of our likes and desires and doing your best to help so many! Don't stress yourself over me, I'm still so thrilled with semi mini yellow blooming AV you thought to get me that I'm a happy camper!! I need to show you how the leaves on Heartlands Lime Sherbet are coming along, you know the ones that came up piggy back style on the leaf you sent me???

Here's the container I want to put one of the little sinns in, it's not too big is it?

Looks perfect to me, Brenda! Big enough for the S. pusilla and all the babies that will come up from its self-seeding! :o) I've got to go figure out what all it is that you wanted... LOL If you can remember, dmail me with a list. Meanwhile, I'll keep working on the list I have started for you. :o)

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

The only want I really have (besides this S. Pusilla LOL) is more of your Codonnanthe's!! I have devosiana Paula and the one called Carnosa (that I think Keyring said to call something else..... and then I didn't write it down!!) I love those tiny thick leaves.

And you'll be happy to know that Kitten Face is finally sending up a baby, I'm thrilled!! And there's still hope for strep Cassandra too.

I am on overload as usual.....................but take a peek at what I found besides all the hoyas.............................at Lowe's the other day............have already taken cuttings and sent them out...........but have plenty more...........

************hoya for one sec
I got this for me and another one to ship................she was too big..........wouldn't even fit in the biggest box I could find................so, i sent cuttings ..........the extra one is being used for cuttings........to be shippped...........she is called Pink Silver...........has two botanical names..........

I don't have the tags in front of me.............best recollection is Variegated columnea (microphylla)

someone gave her a haircut and took the marker.............she appears to be a columnea with some variegation but not as light as "Light Prince'

this is just a hedera helix.........tiny tiny variegated leaves called "little Hermann"

**********have to go and run errands............need gas for the mower, post office and Orchid bark mix for hoyas...............

You found a hoya in bloom at Lowes? How wonderful, what a find!!

I run into Lowe's and Home Depot each time I hit the city and I have found some nice full plants of curtsii, Krimson Princess and a couple of others but never any with blooms! That would be too good to be true!

The other plants are beauties too, the variegated foliage is always eye catching!

~Brenda

Hmmm Brenda... LOL I seem to recall that I was going to send you more of each of those Codonanthes. Codonanthe carnosa is now Codonanthe digna, if I'm not mistaken. I've gotten some cuttings of other Codonanthes, but I'll just have to see if they're big enough to take cuttings from yet. They're rooted and growing well, but I don't know just how big they are yet. If I can, you know I'll send them. :o) You'll get a Strep 'Bristol's Party Boy' leaf, too. I'm ashamed to say that I thought I had killed it, lack of water, you know, but it has bounced back beautifully! :o)

OMG Gail! 'Pink Silver' is one of the Hoyas I asked for on the Hoya board! You'll have to save me cuttings of that one! :o) Pleeeeease???

Those Columneas are fabulous, too! I wish our Lowe's would get those! From what Snow said, though, I should just be happy that they keep houseplants throughout the winter.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

No, Brenda.............that is confusing.............a lady who has a nursery here in Taft grows all kinds of hoyas at very reasonable prices.............that big basket that is 5 years old was 19.95......................her big rooted cuttings of lots of hoyas are 5.00 each in a 4" pot..............haven't shown you those yet...........have to go

Show us those others when you get back, Gail. :o)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Ok..........just got back but haven't eaten lunch yet.........be back in a few minutes........
besides i got the names wrong on the first ones I posted...........one is a Nematanthus 'Bijou'...............and one is Columnea 'Greatheart'............I think

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

here are the hoyas the lady here in Taft grows (plus others like Bella and some she is rooting now)..............I have lots of Pink Silver to offer.................the pic I sent..........because I got the basket for Snow and then it was too big to ship........since I already have a nice big basket.........I am using this one to cut...............

Let me try and get these straight with the right names.......makes me nervous as I may be wrong.........you all can tell me..........now I can't get Corel to read the pics...........moving over to another hard drive........vista.......be back

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

The only one I have to go get from her now.........is the variegated hindu rope.......sent it out on Monday.............thank you Lin.............she sent me three hoyas i don't have...........thanks again............

**************this is the Pink Silver I took out of the basket to take cuttings for people because she couldn't be shipped in a trade...........too big for any box..............this is the one I showed you the bloom on

Thumbnail by gessiegail
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I think someone told me that this is Hoya multiflora or Shooting Stars

Thumbnail by gessiegail
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I hope I don't have these two mixed up..................this is Hoya polyneura or Fishtail

Thumbnail by gessiegail
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

this one grown here in taft is a cross between Kerrii and Pink Silver......................some leaves are heart shaped and others are not................blooms a pretty light pink...........
