That's why you should never, ever, drive by your old house. And if anyone wants to tell you what stupid things the new owner did, put your fingers in your ears and hum.
Bulb planting - question
Exactly, Polly!
The new owners ripped out the magnolia I planted in honor of my mother, after she died, 50 year old beautiful Japanese Maples and enclosed a great big porch to make a family room and covered it in aluminum siding on a great old English Tudor. I'd never go back!
That makes me want to cry, and it wasn't even my house.
It upset me for a long time. Now I cherish all the photos of how it once was.
David - this just came as part of an email from Dutch Gardens and it's all about naturalizing crocuses in a lawn setting: http://www.dutchgardens.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-DutchGardens-Site/default/Link-Page?SC=KKA7037B&id=5295
Yes, the last time I saw my old home was a shocker! I went by there a month ago (thankfully it's 300 miles away). My once beautiful flower beds are 4 feet tall in weeds, the grass needed mowing and there was a big brown spot where they had not fixed a sprinkler. OH well... my new little home is going from the neighborhood eye sore to beautiful. I try to keep my focus HERE where it belongs!
Same here!
Ok pirl now that you have explained how daffs multiply - why don't rose bulbs multiply the same way?? I mean the bulbs looks similar and all....I just don't get it??
Rose bulbs??
My rose bulbs aren't multiplying either!
Hey is has been a long week. I am allowed one mistake a year! LOL I meant tulip bulbs.
Dawn, I had the first good chuckle today, wonderful!!!!
I was so puzzled!
Because tulips are male, Dawn, and we know how ornery they can be!
Actually, tulips, under the best of circumstances really do form a side bulb but IF they grow at all it's not enough for blossoms. The Perennial tulips (Darwins) are the most likely to come back every year but when I did dig them up, last fall, it was night and I wasn't looking to see if they seemed to be forming bulbils. (Yes, I did have my auto lamp on but it was getting cold!)
Oh, that must explain why my rose bulbs aren't multiplying... LOL
Hee, hee, 'ornery males'.
Mine don't bloom either because I've never had any, Harper!
That's my problem!!
Rose bulbs or ornery males??
Both!
Yeah, both!
Thank goodness for supportive friends!
Maybe the males had ornery bulbs and you should show some sympathy.
Uh oh... I just made fun of you in another thread... (running and ducking)
Ornery begets ornery! No sympathy.
Actually, I was teasing you, pirl. ...about how all your posts are informative... guess it went over your head. Okay, then. Gee, you two sure talk a lot! I only have 16 pages of posts.
I now excuse myself from anything rude or insulting I might say... feeling silly tonight and silly usually comes out the wrong way.
At least five of my posts relate to gardening.
Hey Victor - you're the pro with fall color and so much more! We count on you to tell us what's blooming, especially with shrubs.
Harper - for whatever I've posted I've had fun 99.5% of the time.
Yay! And I've had 100% fun reading your posts!
What a sweetie you are, Harper!
You too. I miss you. Can't wait to come get my shovel back.
Did you conveniently forget it Harper? Thanks Pirl.
Maybe I did
Happy to have you whenever it's good for you, Harper.
(Shovel works well!)
I will come with my cute self - is that ok???
Oh and thanks a bunch too for the lessons on the bird and the bees with bulbs. I just like knowing how things multiply LOL
Of course! From Sudbury to Southold in just 20 hours!
Wooo hoooo I really could use a vacation at pirls. I can see myself sitting there relaxing my face off sipping vine as she works vigorously in her gardens. Yup I could see that now. You wouldn't mind pirl would you? Can you make sure you have white wine in your fridge please. LOL
You can sip the vine or the wine and we always have white wine chilled ... just in case.
I Googled maps and you're "only" 813 miles or 14 hours away.
Wow - just around the corner. I'm a red wine person.
We have that, too. People keep giving us wine but I don't drink it at all. Lots of champagne, too, but I can't drink anything bubbly, not even soda.
Yes I don't like soda nor Champagne. The fizz bothers my stomach.
