Hello All, Im a first time visitor and am overwhelmed at the amount of information changing hands here. What a great site ! I have just started 'garden designing' for a landscaper and am having a blast. I am a police dispatcher (yup,911 thats me) and have always used gardening as my de-stresser. I have a couple of water gardens that have brought me so much joy, but....I put them in not really knowing what I was doing. So now the plan is to re do them a bit, now that I have more info ! Sure am looking forward to some great advice, information and chatting with all of you ! The hyperlinks are the bomb :-)

This indeed is - the gardening zone - you will find Dave and all of us a little on the weird side. So have lots of fun and spend the next 6 months learning about us from the various threads. Listen to me. I have only been here since early July and I sound like an old timer. Well maybe that is because of the T-shirt my 14 year old grand daughter got me. It says "Genuine Antique Person - Been There - Done That - Can't Remember". You have found a sight with lots of smiles, self admitted gasbags, eaters of worms, and just about any other zany character you can find. If you see a thread which mentions Horseshoe, follow it. He tells some of the funniest stories I have ever heard.

(By the way "Grazdpa", how in the world didja get that name anyway? Makes my tongue hurt to try and pronounce it!)

Well 'Shoe - remember - you asked for it!

Grazdpa & Grazdma came from the old country in '01. Ve migrated here on a steamer while hiding in a lifeboat. Ve only had cheese and stale bread for four weeks! Vorking our fingers to the bone in our moldy cheese delicatessan ve made a meager living and raised our 19 children and 14 grandchildren. Grazdma is some voman! I come to Daves Garden to get some rest! I don't get no gardening done - I just sit all day and read Horshoe stories. Besides vich Grazdma is much happier ven I am typing than sitting around vith the drool running down my face!

Actually Grazdpa and Grazdma came about when my granddaughter was makeing up a special key chain for mothers day which spelled out "Grandma". The key chain has the letters which are ceramic cubes with holes in them on a thong. When she picked up what she thought was an "N" it was a "Z". It was too late to change it in order to give it to Grandma on Mothers Day so she gave it to her telling her she would get the right letter. We both jumped on it and said we liked being "Grazdma and Grazdpa from the old country". So needless to say I got a keychain on fathers day that said "Grazdpa" and it has stuck!

Grazdpa_Jack (Just say it with a thick Eastern European accent 'Shoe and it comes out right! Hmmm.. A thick European accent with a southern drawl... Hmmm - Maybe I can see part of your problem Shoe.)
