That is a fabulous idea, makshi!! How did you ever come up with it?? I'm off to see what I can find... LOL This will be so fun!

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I am thinking all the time. I am trying to think of something else to do to you all.

Don't catch your hat on fire! ;o)

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

My hat I must find my hat.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I know things are going to be hectic through the next couple of weekends (family visiting, then hosting a DG plant swap), so I was going to sit this one out... but I can't resist the theme!

Here's mine:

Miss Jill (5885) 11/29/1985 (J. Weinshenker/R. Bronson) Double pink star/darker center, green-tinged edge. Dark green, quilted, glossy/red back. Standard

I'll Dmail Makshi also... but if anyone happens to have this one, please let me know!

When I was small, I was a big fan of this PBS program, "Hodge Podge Lodge." A naturalist named "Miss Jean" had a bunch of kids troupe over to her cabin in the woods every day after school, and she'd show them all kinds of cool stuff and answer all their questions. I wanted to grow up to be just like her! And now the kids in the neighborhood stop by with seeds and bugs and toads and snakes and questions for "Miss Jill." They'll come over to keep me company in the garden, and they'll even pick rocks and squash slugs. Cool. :-)

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Great bunch of kids. I need a couple of them.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Of course, they've gotten busier with sports and school as they've gotten older... but now there are some little kids on the block again, so I think I'll have "garden helpers" more often again in the next few years. A couple of my young friends just moved to CA... wish I could've sent them to you instead!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Makshi... Can I make my pick in honor of my late grandmother? My maiden name is the name I want to pick too... will that count enough???

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have found mine with a little help from a friend (LOL)
Gail (2695) 05/28/1975 (Union County Chapter AVS/Max Maas) Double dark rose. Longifolia. Standard

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Well you could have blown me over with just a breath when I found this....

Brenda (1940) 06/27/1969 (Randall) Single white/blue frilled edge. Variegated, ruffled. Standard

Now of course I'm going to go nuts trying to find this you know!! I think that was your plan Makshi, making us all crazy to find our "named" violets. LOL

My First Class CD's should be coming shortly, will they have pictures for the violets listed Gail??

~Brenda

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

i will look it up Brenda.........found my picture on FC.........

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Brenda (1940) 06/27/1969 (Randall) Single white/blue frilled edge. Variegated, ruffled. Standard
There wasn't a picture but she sounds very pretty,.........variegated and ruffled foliage with a two color flower!!!!!!!! wow

(Zone 1)

Since I'm the Card Holder for this game I'm not playing but just had to go in search of an AV with my name: Found this one 'Linda Bee' in Plant Files: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/131306/

and this one 'Linda Darnell'when I googled: http://www.avsa.org/Photographs/LindaDarnelLrg.jpg#http://../Photographs/LindaDarnelLrg.jpg%23

There's also one listed in PF called 'Linda's Joy' but no photo! I would love to have one of each of them!

North Augusta, ON

ackkk.....I can't find a LeeAnne anywhere....unless I can use an Iris??!!!

(Zone 1)

LeeAnne ... didn't fine one with your entire name but go here: http://www.avsa.org/Photographs.asp?Photos=A and scroll down ... there's an 'Ann' and also one called 'Anne's Favorite'.

With so many different names I'm sure a lot of people won't find an exact match! I just happen to have a very common name .... always wanted a fancier name than Linda!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks,Lin............I want Linda Darnell.........mini trailer...........wow she is fine!!!!!!!!!!

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

African Violet "Marie's Lady Beth"

Marie's Lady Beth (7785) 09/05/1992 (M. Beeman) Semidouble peach-pink star. Variegated black-green and cream, plain, ovate, hairy, wavy. Large

Snow Rose (5985) 05/13/1985 (S. Whitaker) Double burgundy-red/white-edged top petals. Dark green, quilted/red back. Large

And I also want to donate a boobie prize, a purple 4" Dandy Pot, to the biggest loser on this game. Whoever has the most uncalled left on their card. Help me out Makshi if I am not saying this right.

Wonderful, Snow! I just love those biggest loser prizes! That's a great prize, too! :o)

I have chosen my AV as well. I tried to find another Gesneriad with my name in it, but I couldn't.

http://www.avsa.org/Photographs/RebelsAmyLrg.jpg#http://../Photographs/RebelsAmyLrg.jpg#

I know Rebel is an odd name, but you take what you get. ;o)

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

I found mine!!!

Aca's Blue Lou (J. Brownlie) Semidouble blue/white edge. Variegated green and white. Standard
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/159388/

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Amy, my dear friend................Rebel has been my middle name since the day I was born........you are uncomfortable with that name? I like the name Rebel verrrrry much!! (LOL)

Snow..................so glad you are playing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love looking at these pictures........
good prize, too.............no one would mind coming in the biggest loser on this bingo!

Homosassa, FL(Zone 9a)

i want to play again to

LOL I live up to the name Rebel at times, Gail. I blame it on my inner child! ;o)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I don't think I ever outgrew my "inner child" Amy!!!!!!! (LOL)

(Zone 1)

Oh .... I am so wishing I could play this time too .... I know y'all are gonna have a blast with this game! And, I know I will have fun watching! .... and holding the cards!

Hey Amy .... I'm a Rebel too .... born and raised in Virginia ( one of the rebel states!

Make a card for yourself, Lin, as if you were playing. Then you can play along and would at least know if you would have won! :o) I want to see that box of gesneriads that you won this month when you receive it. I'll be aggravating you for pictures!

(Zone 1)

hee hee ... I got a d-mail from Cedarnest/Nancy - she is the donor of that wonderful prize. I have requested that she only send me a couple of plants though cause I am so short on space! I would rather not take posession of a lot of plants and not do them justice. You've heard of "Puppy" Mills? Well, hubby says I am getting like that with plants! I have three plant stands with lights in the house, two in the guest room and one in the study .... and no room for more. I really need a bigger house or at least a 3rd bedroom that could be used for a plant room!

I will post a photo when I get my prize from Nancy!

Lin! Turn down Gesneriads?? mmm mmm mmm What is this world coming to? LOL I'm sure you'll love what she sends you! Looking forward to seeing the pictures. :o)

I do understand the space issue. I'm taking a long hard look at a lot of my Non-Gesneriad plants, and I'm pretty sure that some of them simply aren't going to make the cut and will be looking for new homes, sooner rather than later.

(Zone 1)

14 Ladies signed up to play so far!!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

we have time for more people to sign up..................lots of people don't get on Dave's everyday like we do............................

(Zone 1)

Oh Amy, I LOVE the Gessie's but I love my other plants too! I don't think I could get rid of any of them ... I love trading and giving away "extra's" that I get from dividing but I have to have at least one of everything! LOL.

Do you remember that Sanseiveria you sent me that you didn't want .... the floppy one? Well, tomorrow I will take a picture and show you what it's looking like! It still has the long floppy ears, but I stuck it in the ground outside by my shed and it has two brand new growths/pups on it and it's very pretty!

I'm so glad you saved it!! It wasn't happy here and wouldn't put up anymore growth other than those floppy ears! LOL I knew it would love being with you! :o) Can't wait to see it!

I love the other plants, too, Lin, but the Gessies just *sing* to me! LOL I'd like to get a couple more stands so I could keep them all, and if I can I will, but otherwise it will be out the door for some of them.

I've got to figure out where I'm going to put all my hanging baskets when it's time to bring them in. I actually think I'll start a thread on the Houseplant board asking for pictures from people of how they hang their plants by the window.

(Zone 1)

hee hee ... I've been talking about buying curtain rods and hanging them from the ceiling in front of the window (in front of the curtains already there) .... rods just to hang plants from! I haven't told hubby about this idea yet ... I can see him shaking his head and rolling his eyes right now!

I'm actually thinking that might be what I do. Hubby has finally given up hope and realized that resistance is futile. This house will be a jungle in the winter, and there's no two ways about it. LOL I've got blinds that are hung inside the window frame, so I could probably hang the curtain rods normally and that would work for me.
