Lin off track is good.

oh well I originally was here because of the african violets, which I plan on looking for at HD and Lowes ASAP! I don't have any with that kind of flower..!

Our Lowes and HD had absolutely no African Violets ... they rarely do.

Bhavana...I'll keep the curtisii more shaded as you suggest. Your plant looks so nice.

Lin - you might want to think about planting your pretty AnnaBelle slightly lower in the pot. I know that variety tends to grow upward rather than laying flat even with sufficient light.

Wow, that is a Beautiful 'Annabelle', Snow!! Loads of blooms on her!

Thank You Snow ... so, should I bury those stems in the soil? I'm not really sure how to pot it lower since it doesn't really have a neck ... when looking at it, it looks like a bunch of long leaves coming out of the soil! It's the weirdest looking AV I've ever seen - have never seen one grow like this before. Someone told me it needed more light that it was growing tall to reach the light, but it's been on a light stand since day one.

I have at least 2 Annabelle's (maybe 3) and I think I am gonna do surgery on one to see if I can rectify the situation! Thanks for your help!

Lin...no, do not bury the stems/crown. Your plant seems to be planted high in the pot, so if the roots are solid all the way down, you might have to slice some off the bottom and place the plant back in the pot just so it sits a little lower. From your photo, I'm guessing about 1" or so. If there is spare soil at the bottom of the plant, all that may be necessary is to remove some and place the plant back into the pot.

Ok, Thanks so much Snow! I will try that. I figured I'd tackle it tomorrow morning first thing ... have a couple of things to repot!!

I did want to tell you, Lin, that your plant is beautiful and I so like those dark leaves

(Zone 1)

Oh you are too sweet Miss Snow! When I first found this AV and bought six of them (not knowing a name, just that I loved the little bell shaped flowers), it was a favorite. I still love the dark leaves with the red backs and adore those bell flowers ... but I have to admit, she is not my favorite anymore! I think my favorite right now is Pow Wow!! I got this one last Spring as a little plant from Bluebird Greenhouse website. Now that the white edging is showing on the leaves and I've seen it bloom a couple of times, I love it. I like the shape it has, with no help from me!! It's showing bloom stalks right now and I look forward to seeing the flowers open again!

Yes, indeed. I can see why you like it. When it blooms again, please do take a picture.
