BREATHE... Hooo Hooo Hooo Hoooooooo

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

I just went out there (it's dark now) and shone a flashlight behind the bud and it looks like it's 3/4 of the way down now. Sheesh. It's gonna be awhile! :-(

Gosh at 104 degrees, it is looking pretty good. How can you stand it so hot? Way to hot to evaluate it. We are in the 80s here and I hate it!!

I love the shape of this one.

I've been waiting for you to come in Kell. This is your baby and I was dying to hear your critique....

In Stockton, which is about 1/2 mile from here, it was 108 yesterday. That's why I've been online so much! Other than having to work.. the only reason I go outside is to mist my babiez! It is miserable out there... So I am not judging this baby too harshly either.. I mean, DANG... first flush in 108 degrees? That says a lot right there!

Bloom #5 has 6 points..

I was hoping you would get a pink one but I love white too. Some people have gotten decent pink doubles. I didn't grow any of those crosses myself. Why I have no idea. LOL.

It is 80 degrees here which is hot for here. I am hiding inside in the airconditioning already. LOL. I need to go out and water though.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

A pink from orange and peach? My heart was in the wrong place then... LOL I was hoping for peach, orange or yellow in this one. I'm happy with it.. especially with the tendril thing inside.. I hope that continues!

I just finished watering (and misting) and I was wondering if your sweltering over there.. I know that is hot for you.. It is 94 miserable degrees already here..

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I thought it was from one of my pink crosses. LOL. I have PINK always on my mind.

I reread the thread. I did send out some seeds from Cream Sickle and also some from my Double Apricot (both were the Moms). What single orange? I do not have any single orange brugs I would use as a mother.

Are you sure it is from me? I did have 2 big Native Habitat Double Peach brugs but tossed them because I could never get them to bloom, not even 1 bloom. I could have gotten some pollen from somewhere but do not recall getting any.

LOL, Joyce!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

OK, LOL I got it now. I sent you seeds from a double apricot of my own. Not one from Native Habitat. And the pollen was from an incredible single from the San Francisco Arboretum, a wild looking one.

And shoot, I was so hoping these would be orangy. I am growing some of these out myself!!

There is Cream Sickle in the background so it may turn colors later. And in the heat where you are, all bets are off on how it really should be. I am amazed they are not real deformed.

And this is the one from the Arboretum. I LOVE this one. Every time I see the blooms, I am thrilled. The best single yellow/orange I have seen. Especially the ones from their mature tree, they are just huge and wild looking.

Oh my GAWD Kell that is even better! I thought it was just the double peach.. that makes me love this one even more.. as if that were possible! I thought I wasn't getting passed that PINK on your mind.. :) I didn't know how to describe that one from the Arboretum... but I never forgot the size of that flower.. I want one for a hat..

I'm amazed to even get an open bloom in 108 degrees! She is special.. I just know it.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

My double apricot has finally grown back and has Yed. I have little buds so I am hoping to get blooms this year. It is a really pretty double with a great shape and consistently good blooms.

The one from the Arboretum I must find. I had a few. I sent 1 or 2 out to friends and kept some. But I haven't noticed any around. Which means nothing. I have brugs here there and everywhere. I lost so many over winter but still some how I have so many left. LOL I will admit I am not so enamored of them anymore so I am not fanatical in taking care of them and potting them up like I should. And funny to for I have not had a mite attack yet this year. The brugs must know that they will be murdered if they give me any trouble. LOL

I do have some new crosses from a friend that are hot and I am dying to see them in bloom so I am trying to do better. Of course it is almost September so it is kind of late to get religion. LOL

OMG Kell! Your double Apricot is absolutely AMAZING!!!!!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

I'm not believing my eye sight!!! Having worked with my own generic brugs outdoor today, I must have got some of the juices into my eyes or something!!! Blink, blink, wait, wait, wait. Let me go and rinse my eyes out, be right back to pay complement to your brug's blossoms! (All the while, I'm pinching myself too, make sure I'm not dreaming this). lol, lol.

Kell, your double apricot should be named and registered. The color is outstanding with a beautiful form to the flower. You must be very pleased!

Tussee is absolutley right!

Now it's a little more understanding why I was so jazzed about this baby?? LOL I have the pics of the mom & dad (above) in my Dmail and forgot all about them!

I'm not worried about the color.. Here is a pic of my first bloom on Amber Rose!!

Here is what she gave me a couple of months later.. Yeah.. same brug!

edited to say... it's a far cry from that double apricot.. but there is still hope for color. I can't stop staring at that pic Kell.. I would like to try and paint it..

VERY COOL!!! (and nice finger nail thingie ya got going on! ;-) )

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Thank you all. You are all so nice!!

I am not so big on all that formal stuff. The only reason I ever even registered one I have is because it won a contest for a cover of a brug calendar so it needed a name fast and Alistair was so nice to do all the work. I am not even sure my best brug Ruthie is registered. I should check. And I so suck in getting them out to people. I have lost some really great brugs to winter because I am so slow to even start a spare for myself.

I do have 2 minis that I thought I had lost that I need to get out to some people. Both were so special that it would be so sad if I lost them for all time. I am waiting for them to bloom - one for its 2nd and the other for its 3rd year to see if they are still special. Sometimes they look special the first year then the second year they are nice but nothing great. All my brugs suffered so this last winter.

To be honest, I am not the most organized person. I figure if I get myself dressed, I am doing well. LOL

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

Kell, you're hilarious! We love you the way you are. If you can produce a Brug THAT gorgeous... you are OK in our books! ;-)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Here is bloom #5 It is a 6 pointer.. Can you see the split points on the inner skirt? I'll try to get another pic before it melts completely! LOL

It's still a bit messy, but I think it has GREAT potential! If this dang weather would just cooperate...
Was that the only bloom?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

You deserve the recognition, Kell. Set aside some time to register your double apricot and Ruthie; it will only hurt for an hour or two. :)

My Gosh Kell !! That double apricot is gorgeous.
