LOLOL ZZ! I'm with you!

My over 7 foot Miss Caylie x Genevieve's bud is now reaching close to 7 inches in length. I'm so excited and want to see what's in there!

I've been thinkin about that bud Teresa!! I wanna see it too!!! LOL You can't just keep us hangin.. Keep that camera handy!

Gosh, I'm terrible.. I have no patience at all right now.. I went to take another pic of this baby.. geez... it's about 1/2 inch further than it was.. big deal. LOL Well.. there is some twanger action goin on here..

Who is she ZZ?

She is from a seed pod that was gonna freeze that Kell sent me. It is a very nice orange single and Native Habitat Double Peach. I know it's a double cause I'm the infamous "Bud Snatcher" and I can't help myself. I will forfit a first bloom just to see how many skirts it has.. that's bad, I know...

ZZ, just found a pod forming that I had used Creamsickle's pollen on from last year. The pollen I sent is still viable. :)

Well, she has a lemon scent.... lemon cake? I love it.. she is just white and the inner skirt hasn't dropped.. but she has started opening tonight... Right now it's 98 degrees outside, so please excuse her lil browing edges.. it was soooo hot today.. I'm sure we hit triple digits..

I don't see any color yet.. but that sure would be nice! I appreciate the vote of confidence! This one is a keeper for me.. I don't care what she ends up doing.. I did surgery on the tiny seed and we are bonded for life. LOL

Awwww.. I know what you mean, doctor! I've done that to some of my seedlings too. Had a heck of a time removing the seed coat and damaged the poor thing and felt sorry for it. ;-)

Does she have any more color showing today? Did the inner skirt drop any lower?
I glad she is blooming for you even with the heat. The only ones of my that have buds are in the house in pots lol.

Of course I take photos of my babies but just havent of the actual seed germinating LOL!

BTW, speaking of trapped seedling heads, what is the best way to get those little suckers out. I always try to slit the side of the seed coat and end up busting off the top. Gosh brug seeds are the only ones that have this problem for me- don't know why...they get lots of humidiy.

Angle_Tree, I find that if you spray them enough, they will eventually come out fine!

You know what Teresa? That is exactly what I've been thinking! I swear the yellow is not going away.. no more color yet.. but check this out..

All the inner skirts have 10 tendrils! Let me go get more pics..

It is 104 degrees outside right now.. One of the blooms the inner skirts rotted on the ends.. but I still counted 10 tendrils! Wild... I love that. The points are not forked.. there are 2 tendrils per point. I saw that in one of the buds, but I just thought it was a freak thing... now the skirts are nearing dropping with all this crazy ball of yarn looking thing.. LOL

Well.. I should have said the yellow is not going away COMPLETELY. It is white for now, which I don't mind.. this is the first bloom.. I don't care if it was clear. LOL

Ya know what else? The bud is only 5" long max when it opens.. the flower from the tip of the calyx to the point is barely 3" they are TINY when they first open! It's like they were not ready yet.. the inner skirt just has too far to travel.. LOL

It is getting longer! This is the first bloom from yesterday.. there are 5 opening now!

What a trip! I really think this is one you're going to have to keep another year and see what it does. You know those double, triples, and (gulp) quads, can take a while to get their acts together.
If it keeps those multi-twangers, you're really going to have one that is unique...even if it's white...

I think white would be super! It's very cool and unusual looking! You HAVE to keep it!

Oh my GAWD, what if it's babiez have multi twangers? That would be just too much for me to handle... If it keeps this trendril thing.. and I do have something unique.. It makes me feel so special.. I love it.
The last couple blooms to open have the skirts closer, hopefully they will make it out.. the first one that opened is like having a race to outrun the inner skirt.. poor lil thing is tryin so hard to come out, it looks like it's stretching!
I love seedlings so much.. I haven't had this much fun since..... ummmm well, last year? LOL
