Yes, Victor, to everything you said.
What do I do now? Be nice
Good morning Pirl. You mean everything I've ever said??
not a chance, Victor ~ *smile*
Hi dpoitras-
glad to see others from our area joining in. You might want to call the Cornell Cooperative Extension for advice. If you are lucky, one of the master gardeners might be willing to drop by for coffee and help. I've noticed in the Times Union that CCE often offers classes, along with some of the garden societies. The Gazette has a full listing of gardening information on Thursdays. I think there were several events listed for the next few weeks..
What a great idea!!
I never would have thought to contact my Cooperative Extension at this time of year. I wonder if ours would make house calls as well. Perhaps if I offered chocolate, they might.
They're a great source anytime, assuming you have good agents. Some are better than others. Mine is great.
You mean, I can make more friends than those here at NEG?
Actually, our town does NOT have a garden club. Guess what Anna and I will be doing soon?
Hi all - my first trip down this thread - thanks for all the good info.
Today I plan on a little garden clean up, if the rain goes away - although a bit cool today, 55-60 predicted, but better than summer's heat to do a lot of work. I'll be moving a few plants that are right now too crowded. I know where they are right now and in the Spring I might not!
I haven't used markers, but have been thinking about it. In the Spring I often am delightfully surprised when something comes up that I forgot I had even planted!
I used to cut a lot back in the fall, but will leave up some seeds for the birds and plants for the winter interest. I'm new to gardening too,(my 3rd year) and for the most part let nature take it's course. She's better at it!
I'm also new to DG, and have learned so much this year, and look forward to more!
debi
Feel free to ask and contribute regularly, Debi. You're welcome here.
debi:
So nice to meet you! I am sure you have a great deal to contribute! This is our first year as 'real, live, gardeners', and DG has been the very best place to learn.
Welcome debi. I am new here too, very friendly bunch. Feel free to jump in at any time. :)
Welcome to the Northeast forum and to this thread, Debi. dbsmith and Victor are right about calling your local extension office and speak to an agent. You can ask if any of the agents live near you and they'd probably be happy to have chocolate with you.
Good morning to you, Victor: I do agree with more than 99% of what you say, just not the CZJ thing. When I was young I liked James Dean and in later years Jimmy Dean's sausages.

that is a good one Pirl
Hate to sound like a curmudgeon, but...
;)~
Hi Debi - welcome
Al
Al: tastes change!
aww, you guys are the best!
(Now we're all too shy to post!)
If only I had my Dopey hat.
sorry, maybe I'm Dopey
No no Deb! That's an old joke. Just adding to the shyness comment of Pirl. She wants me to dress up like Dopey.
ok, then I'm Grumpy cause it still looks like rain and cold and I want to get outside!
When you dress up, we need a pic!
Color me Happy because the sunshine seems to be getting out here!
I keep thinking the sun will come out here, but not yet.
How late in the season can you divide perennials and have them ready for winter?
You still have time left in zone 6. You want them to get well rooted in before the freezing of January comes along. I'd guess you have a good four weeks left. Is that okay?
Yes, I believe I've planted perennials into early Nov. Certainly through Oct.
Welcome debilu and dpoitras, no need to apologize, it's me who should apologize! All is good.
Gulp! Only four weeks left? I have so much to do...
Harper - I haven't even started Fall stuff yet, except for a little weeding. I have loads to do.
I should be out there right now. My hip is bothering me. That's my excuse. (poor excuse)
Kids are my excuse. I usually don't garden on weekends anyway. Family time.
I'm glued to the chair - that's my excuse. The sun has been out for about an hour so I should get moving.
I have my son here this weekend. Three weekends out of the month, he's at his dad's. Weekdays I work.
I don't go back to work til tues, and I think the weather will be better the next couple days.
Just seems every time I plan to spend a day in the garden - something comes up,
or down(rain)
I guess we really can't complain about the rain though.
Not at all. We really need it.
No we can't. I haven't gotten much though. Lots of clouds, mist, drizzle, occasional drama, but not much water.
Welcome debi! Glad to have you join us!! Eleanor
Hi, Debi. A very warm welcome to you! I never get all of my fall stuff done so I try to prioritize (I never actually get all of my prioritizing done either LOL).
grampapa ~ don't feel bad, I don't get the prioritizing done either!!
I don't even get around to procrastinating.
hi everyone
I've just finished some work in the garden this morning - what a glorious day. I got so much more done than planned. til DH wanted lunch.
Perfect weather for gardening!
It was so perfect, we dug out for another garden.
