There used to be a way you could buy a month membership for someone that you thought would enjoy being a member of Daves.
I no longer see a way to do this, (but then again things have been recently rearranged, so maybe I just cannot find it...) Any help, or direction to the right area, would be appreciated.

I've bought month-memberships for many people in the past, and they have all joined permanently after their month expired...

They have to sign up as members first, then if you go to the area in your preferences to manage your subscription, you'll see links where you can purchase a subscription for another member.

Actually, it's a two-month "trial" subscription.

It works like it always has. Click on the "My info" link in the colored bar just below the tabs across the top, then choose "Manage your subscription" from there, you'll see a link to purchase a gift subscription for another member.

But as ecrane pointed out, they have to have their own username for you to purchase a subscription for. (We have to have an account to apply the gift subscription to.) If we can be of assistance, please let us know!
