What a bounty Celeste! Hope your back feels better. You too Victor.
Veggies 3 (and other Edibles!)
With lots of gardening in the next six or so weeks, that's not likely, but thanks anyway. One good thing though - will open the hot tub in a couple of weeks. That helps, even though it's temporary.
Anyone want to get a group discount for chiropractic treatment??!! Sciatica City here.......and stupidly tried to lift my pumpkin......really big now........He's destined for the front door. After spending an excellent adventure day with our 3-year-old grandson, we had to scurry around in the dark and cover the impatiens and caladiums etc. My beautiful mesculin greens went into the potting shed, but I hate losing so many nice fat tomatoes that haven't ripened yet. Isn't this about a month early??? I thought our frost date was always Oct. 15 or after.
Wow! A hot tub! I could use one of those right now. First day back in the garden in two weeks.
Mother Nature uses her own schedule. She's unpredictable - like most women.
I'm gonna risk it. Keeping my fingers crossed. My 100 or so houseplants are outside.
Harper you probably have about the same low temp as me - 38 predicted for tonight.
Lucky Ducks! You should be ok. Heat on tonight, Victor?? Notice how we are all gracefully ignoring your comment about women.....??
Thanks Louise - I predicted you'd say that. No heat tonight. It's not October.
Are you kidding??!! 38 degrees and no heat! I may have a duty to report you for child abuse. I'll check the statutes in NH to see if there's any duty across state lines.
We're not camping out tonight! This morning it went down to 45 and was 66 in the house.
Wow...that's some good insulation in the Big C house! I can take 66. Ok....no report yet, but give those kids some socks at least!
Victor, NOAA says 35 degrees, The Weather Channel says 43 degrees and AccuWeather says 40 degrees. No heat on here either. I get to sleep with the dog.
I'll leave it to Victor to comment, Harper.
Better make it good, Vic!
At least it's only a one dog night.
Disappointing.
I only have one dog.
I agree pirl.
Can't get too personal!
You're excused Victor. Just teasing.
I thought you'd ask, "Does your dog bite", and throw it back to Harper.
The dog might ask that.
Hey, at least I'm not in the doghouse.
I am amazed that my green bush beans are still going!! I picked a nice bunch today, and there are still more to come! I have never had them stretch this long. I planted 6 ten-foot rows, 2 rows every week or two, and we have had good green beans for months! I have a few more carrots still to go and a few more tomatoes ripening, and then that's I - T for this year!
Gonna have to try them next year. Don't have that much room though.
Victor - They don't take too much room because they can be planted very close together....I don't thin the rows and get lots of beans. I plant 2 rows together with a small space to walk on either side. I have always ordered my beans from Johnny's Seeds before and have planted them with innoculant. This year I bought them at Agway and did not use the innoculant....the beans were long and sweet. If you don't have much room, you could do what I did in Fla....I planted the bush variety in ceramic pot planters, 5 to a planter. We had quite a lot for such a small use of space. I'll do that again this year and will do successive plantings since we'll be down there 2 months longer this year. I also planted my cukes in pots and had a lot of those too. I planted 4 vines to a pot and let them go up a little trellis or out onto the ground. I want to see how onions do in sand in a pot this year.
Thanks Louise. I had all my vaccinations so do I need the inoculant??
only if you're low in nitrogen! LOL
