Here is a photo of VELVET PLUM 'being strangled' because the bloom was so huge, the first year I grew it 3 or 4 years ago. Blooms were 7", but this one was 8" because I measured it. HUGE Blooms

Sold to me as 'Akatsuki no Umi', late in the day and not a big flower.

We got very cool here last night so I wonder...I really like it and am hoping for more flowers. Not to many buds on it

Sunsmile always make me smile. One is solid and the other has a white edge, so much diversity in these flowers I guess that's why we love them!!

Emma, love the Plum Frost with all that frosting and that gorgeous Blue Frost.
Velvet Plum is impressive too. Can't imagine an 8 inch bloom.

Ronnie, pretty blooms. My no umi changed colors late this afternoon to a color
very similiar to yours.

Emma - The almost solid bloom that you asked about in the post here
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=3864640
is produced by the flaked gene combinations can potentially come out of any of the flaked strains...it can appear almost white or as a light blue with or without the gene fpr spotting >which causes the color to appear somewhere along the primary folds...

The bloom(s) here looks to one one of the "Haru"...either Akatsuki or Hama no Haru...

Interesting color here
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3871163

Although it looks to be a regular spotted like the "Milky Way" shown in the PlantFiles here
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/40313/
the presentation of the starring is noticeably different and I've only seen the pattern that you've shown here
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3871163
result from a progressive dilution of the Joyce Cobb' types...

A dilute out of the flaked strains for comparison

flacked,fleked and speckled reference chart

Beth - Joyce Cobb was the grandmother of the person who applied that name to the flower...

Arlan - Really nice double speckled...
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3870695
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3870697
looks like a speckled 'botan'...

Such, beautiful flowers
Luvs, Where can I get some seeds for those gorgeous chocolates, I really love those chocolate,
Well I have a few pics, I had to climb up into the raised bed to get these and without a ladder they are still a little far for a good closeup. This group are all growing in my window boxes. Here is the best closeup

HollyAnnS If I have enough seeds I will trade you for this lovely one here!! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3873767

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Luv's, I would love a trade, just not sure if I can come up with the seeds. Let's see how we both do with our seed collecting.
Here is another from the same window box.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Questions, Are both of these blooms comming from the same plant? What is the difference between the two?

Since you all like my Lav/pink I thought I'd get a new pic. While I was up on the ladder. I've been watching the seed pods on these very carefully.

Just one more this is the window box the Lav/pink are growing in, you can see them growing up the right side of the window.

HollyAnnS - The 2 blooms you posted might be coming from the same plant but they also might be on separate plants...the blizzard gene can produce both of the bloom types you are showing...

You might be able to trace the vines downwards or from the ground up if you don't have too many planted very close together...

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Ron, I don't think that would be possible, with these plants. They are part of my window box and besides needing a ladder and getting up into the raised bed below I'm not sure I could follow them and I don't remember how many I planted in that box.

Was thrilled to come across some MG vines at the beach resort last week...even more thrilled to collect a little bag of seeds. Good size bloom with subtle veining...

Holly, beautiful flowers. That 1st one is really special.

Emma, amazing Plum Frost cross. Plum Frost is a beauty so any offspring
will be gorgeous too. Plum Frost is one of the prettiest glory's I've ever seen.

Chantell, great find.

Jackie

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

Plum frost is very pretty. Here is one I`m working on that showed up looking different this morning. It has the folds trying to turn to leaf like structures going into points. It looks sort of like a fountain and it is odd the way it is shaped. I have never seen stripes like this. It looks like a morning glory from Mars.
