Can you split the home and garden forums again into two tabs? There are a lot of them in there and I was just learning what I would find where.

I can see where the list of forums all together is pretty overwhelming. Could "Discussion Forums" on that Communities portal be split into Home Discussion Forums & Gardening Discussion Forums?

What about a lookup feature which would let someone type in a keyword or two, and the names of some forums that might be of help would come up?

I liked the convenience of going straight to the relevant pages to find what I want without having to go through a two stage process.

I do realise less tabs were needed, but I also think many people will find it off-putting and confusing. Newcomers might never find their way around. I am however impressed with the links at the left to relevant pages.

Personally I would like to have kept the tabs for the Garden forums, Plant Files and Bug Files for easy access. A drop box on the tabs with easy access links would be a good compromise.

I actually think having all the forums on one page will make them more accessible to all. Many DGrs never went to the Home tab. This way they will see all that is available and hopefully participate and learn.

So far, so good on the changes. I am finding my way around although my first instinct was not receptive.

I've just seen all the Forums on one page, so much better! I don't know how Dave fitted them all, it doesn't look any more crowded.

Drop boxes on the top tabs are in the pipeline according to Dave, not for at least a week though.

Clap clap, what a marvellous job he does for us all! The site is improving at the speed of light.........well in terms of what is being done it is going ahead at a rapid rate anyway!

See all on one page was just to much for me to work through took me a long time to find plant and seed trade pages.

Mitch, try typing CTRL+F and searching for the word you're seeking. In Firefox, you can find as you type; as long as you're not in a text entry box (like the "your message" boxes here at DG), you can begin typing a word and Firefox will find it as you type it.

The only thing I can't appreciate is jumping thru the hoops to get to the forums listing.

I prefer to go the individual forums rather than select favorites.

podster, if you really want to see *all* the forums all the time, you can mark all of them as your favorites, and they'll all appear on your home page.

I can't say I would do that (it's not for the faint of heart), but it would let you readily get to all of them from your home page ;o) There's even an easy way to go through and check them all at once off from your preferences area (instead of going to each forum and marking it as a favorite). If you need help finding it let me know!

podster, Dave should be adding a drop box from the tabs on the Home page soon which will be just as easy to access.

Can I also point out that the box on the side of each page doesn't just have a link to the Forum you are laready on, click the first link which states Forums (underlined) and it will take you directly to the whole page of Forums.

Maybe that link should read "All Forums" or "See All Forums" instead of just "Forums"?

Hi wallaby1 - yes, indeed, I was piggybacking off your idea and trying to come up with some concise (but self-explanatory) options for Dave to consider.

I indeed found the page to mark all forums as favorites but I am "faint of heart" LOL

I do indeed use the forum link in the box and it is fine.

The hoops to jump thru are going from Home to Communities to Forums.... Will look forward to a drop box.

If you have no forums in your favorites, then the entire list will show on the homepage... Just go into each forum you're watching and remove it. :)
