I know whereof you speak my friend....but I tend to not talk about the boring stuff. Ha ha...
16th Place
We are never, ever boring. How wild that should include myself in Tropical Gardening.....I'm smack dab in the middle of North Central Texas. However, as I gaze out my window this moment.....I see two kinds of ginger (sorry, I will be better soon so I can identify them)....one is shampoo and I have a bloom....yeaaah.....a banana tree,
3 kinds of elephant ear, lots of fern, hoja santa, a fantastic little koi pond with lots of pretty plants and a rose with no leaves only 1 beautiful rose that smells as sweet as heaven. There a host of other things there as well but these are definitely not native to Texas. Add to that the voice of Brother Iz and it's almost heaven......(ok.Chrissy, pick it up)
You be tropical in your heart Chris - same as Don in Wichita. Its a state of mind, not necessarily location. Ain't that right Carol?
yeah, mon..
It is definately a "state of mind", and I don't ever plan on giving it up, esp. now that Ihave support from other Tropikids!
Once my daughter made the statement that I was in "LaLa land" since I was trying to recreate a little Hawaii in the back yard.....I said, Yes, and I don't plan on leaving, either! After she returned from her honeymoon on Oahu, she decided she liked LaLaland!!!!!!!! No more comments from her, except, Oh I can't wait until we can go back!!!!!!!!!!!
Dreams come true in Blue Hawaii...........ha ha ha
Tropical lovers are as much a state of mind and spirit .....rather than just gardeners! just look at everyone....there in Kansis...Texas and Australia....and anywhere where the swaying palms and the moon over the sea smiles down on ......we dreamers..............
Come with me ....la la la ....while the moon is on the sea......the night is young..... and so are we ...so are we.......:)
Tropgang,
I can't understand how anyone could not want a tropical garden, the only thing more beautiful is the gardens under the sea!
I would love to see a favorite picture from all the Tropical Garden member's gardens!
Cheers
Cath
Hey there Cath!!!
Have you gone through all of the Nature's Underwater Gardens??? 1,2,3,and now 4?
It has been a while since I've posted anything there as between surgery and hurricanes, haven't had much time for it...I will be posting some new images there soon...check it out when you get a chance....
aurabest,
john
Good morning, John. Did you and Katie actually get any damage other than breaking the oleander? I sure hope not. BTW oleander are easy to propagate.....just take pieces about 12" or so and put in water....pretty soon there are roots. In your climate could possible just plant in the ground and skip the water.
Cat,
The underwater pictures of John and Shari are the glue that brought everyone together and continues to tantalize all of us.
LouC
PS please do take a look from #1 through #4....it is a treat that I often go over again for myself.
How was the trip Cath? I see you made it, uneventfully I hope. How is Canada this time of year?
Good mornin everyone! Smiles and hugs all around!
I did go through the Natures Underwater Gardens - all 4, they are fantastic!
They make me so want to get under the water again soon! Actually talked recently about diving in Texas, area called the Flower Gardens, I think? Have to look more into it. I have a dive buddy in MS, so we thought it might be in driving distance.
John, you take wonderful underwater photo's. I am sure you must have some pretty nice camera equipment. Its quite an art to take good underwater shots, not as easy as the digital on land.
Are you going to keep adding to these forums?
Cheers
Cath
IS,
Yes finally made it to Canada, took the next flight in the AM and thankfully very uneventful.
Canada is cooling off, the leaves are starting to turn. Its currently 20 cel/65 fahren.
In Calgary we plant June 1 and we can get frost in August. Short and sweet.
My garden's are literally worlds apart.
Living in Hawaii, are you a diver also?
Cath
Actually I am about 2100 miles from Hawai'i. But I no longer dive. Used to, but blew out my ears, so doc says no more. DH is a Dive Master/Master Diver and VP of the Scuba club (largest on the planet), but all I do anymore is snorkel. That's not bad though...out here in the world's largest lagoon, there is plenty of see and enjoy with just a snorkel and fins.
Opps, better brush up on my geography!
I googled Marshall Islands and it came up with the following:
Marshall Islands
A collection of islands sparkling like diamonds on a turquoise velvet sea-rug.
Sounds like a beautiful place! Another dive destination to add to the list.
Cheers
Cath
Yes the diving out here is some of the best in the world....but the accomodation leave much to be desired. No room service, and in some places, no roof!
Well, we have lots of fun, lots of great pics, but most of all great people! It's only natural that it will be a busy place! ☺
Won't be long before others will coming here to what the attraction is.........well, boys and girls........since our own carriblue started it and islandshari was right there....and,and,and,....well what more can I say.
Carol was very, very instrumental in getting us this forum! While I just whined away within the thread, she was pounding on Dave's door and saying - Hey! And there were dozens of folks responding on the thread to prove to Dave that there was an interest....they may just lurk now and then, but they all helps start it. Too many to thank individually, but you know who you are (Dale, Zany, Lin, 3Gardeners, and sooooo many more), so I'm just gonna say a blanket THANK YOU for helping establish this most wonderful of forums! John - it wouldn't have happened without you! From my heart to all of you - mahalo!
But of course it would have!! Don't be mad sick, head no good....You and Carol were the initial instruments in this band, we just joined in when we found which key to play in!!! Congrats and thanks to all of us!!! This house rocks!
j
That it does, my friend...that it does. ♥
Congrats, on moving up the standings - 10th
Always fun and informative!
Cath
