Late Bloomers

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

Love that Lady Liss - don't believe I've ever seen that one before. Any idea where you got it?

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Faraway Flowers offered some new double orientals last spring, Exotic Dancer, Exotic Butterfly , Exotic Candy. The names were subject to change and they each have new names now (Lady Liss, Lady Jayne and Lady Annabelle, perpectively)
Faraway had some very unusual offerings, the doubles were just a few of the beautiful offerings she had.
Not sure if you followed this thread....

Thanks. I hadn't kept up on that thread only because I can't afford to be tempted anymore! Just last night I was wondering where I could dig up more lawn for more lillies.... I think I need to purchase part of the field behind our house. (I actually did ask the farmer a couple of years ago if he would sell me a few acres - yes, I have a lily addiction!)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

goldfinch, don't feel bad...I have 2.5 acres and just purchased 12.5 acres of field that butts up to our land. Now im too broke to buy more lilies to fill it. I'm still looking and planning!!

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

Pixie - good for you! Never hurts to plan. Are you going to make all 12.5 acres into garden?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Umm no, DH won't lke that. I plan on putting a log cabin and a pond down there.....then gardens!

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

WOW - awesome. Show progress pics!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

NOOOooooo...... they can't change the names of the Exotics! We can't have a "Lady" in the naughty garden ~ need to revamp that a bit. Were there any other changes? I also have E. Love, E. Charm, E. Lady.

pixie ~ it's nice to have a big property to garden on, but it sure cuts in to your play money, doesn't it? I feel your pain!

Poland, ME

Sorry but the names are now registered. The original names were denied by the RHS. They are now Lady Jayne, Lady Liss, Lady Annabelle and Lovely... But I can think of a few daylilies that you can plant in their place. Try some of Curt Hanson's in replacement. LOL (correcting the first name of Hanson)

What was Lovely's former (unregistered) name? Is Painted Lady still safe? ;)

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Exotic Dancer is now who? Lady Liss?

Poland, ME

Exotic Dancer is Lady Jayne
Exotic Butterfly is now Lady Liss
Exotic Candy is Lovely

Thank you Ramona. :) Off to do a new label. :)

My last OT to bloom and ain't she pretty! This is Miss Libby. All revenues from the sale of this one go to the American Cancer Society.

These speciosums line the front edge of the lily forest.

Oh, Miss Libby is beautiful! She's in the new catalog as well. Did you get her early because of the PNWLS?

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Yes, I purchased from this past spring's catalog. It was only $14 then, now it is $30 but for a good cause all the same.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

At least that's a good-sized donation per bulb, which makes it seem more worthwhile to me than the teeny amounts you sometimes see.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Hey, when did you guys get your Lily Garden Catalog?

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Well, mine in particular doesn't have too far to travel, after all. It was either Saturday or Monday.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

anybody have this happen to your lilies?? Only 4 petals on this Mojave bloom!

' San Souci' is still going and 'Rose Sonnet' hasn't even opened yet.

I had some funky blooms with my late frost this year, wait , it was more than a late frost, it was downright freezing for days.
I was so impressed with the beauty and longevity of 'San Souci'. I'm happy I bought a little grove. I adored that flower!

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

I have had some funky blooms too, from the heat and drought, I surmise. My lilies are mulched after the ground freezes in the fall, so they come up . . . . not late, but when they should. So I had no frost nipping on mine.

Funky less than correct number petals on L. speciosum and Tiger Prawn (or is it Prawn Tiger?).

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I will most likely move most if not all of my lilies down to the new house as I can't afford new ones! But here's what I plan on putting down back. Can't ya just see all the lilies around this??
http://www.honestabe.com/homecenter/image.php?id=82

This is all on one floor as DH has had 4 surgeries on his foot and can't climb stairs anymore. So this will be the retirement home with less rooms than I have now. Don't need a 9 room house for the 2 of us. The kids can have this house when we move into the new one and they can clean it!!! LOL

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

Yes, I can picture lilies all around. Pretty exciting!

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Pixie very nice. ;) I can picture wonderful gardens all around your house. When are you moving? :)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm thinking we'll have it done by the time i'm 50. It all depends if DH can keep himself accident and surgery free! Oh...im 47 BTW...so maybe 3-5 yrs. from now.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

That's great! And you have plenty of time to plan and move gardens. I'm telling ya, after moving gardens, the rest is a piece o' cake.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I've got two that just started blooming.

Here's the first

Very nice momcat! :)

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

momcat, could your be 'Cobra'? It kind of looks like my late planted 'Cobra' that I got on sale at Jungs.

Wow!! That does look like mine, though the name doesn't sound familiar. I do know that whatever they are, they are named lilies. Thanks for the picture, your Cobra is lovely.

'Rose Sonnet' finally opened. Talk about a late bloomer!
