I have to wait forever for the forum or thread to open? This has never happened before but I have encountered this problem for more than a week now and it is very frusterating to hold this long. I don't have any other problems anywhere else but on DG??? My membership expires next month and if this condition persists I am very hesitant to renew. Is it just my computer or is it also affecting anyone else?
I'M HAVING A PROBLEM WITH DG!
I'm not sure. I guess the site went down for a little while yesterday? http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/758268/ But, I have not noticed anything. Somtimes when we start noticing odd things on our computer we shut down and restart and are back in good shape. Won't hurt to give it a try, other wise if you do not get more comments here you might either try Dave's forum or the Computer forum and seek some answers there. Don't give up!!
I've had no problems, although apparently the site was down very briefly for a bit yesterday. That's a rare occurrence. For a site this size, and with so many pictures, it amazes me that there are so few problems.
Are you on dial-up, DSL, cable?
June
I'm on DSL..
You might want to post the problem on
http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/dg/all/
Dave will see it there and may have an answer for you. He's very helpful.

I saw some errors yesterday (MySQL type errors) but then later in the evening it was back. They probably had a database go down. I've seen more problems with DG than other heavily used sites such as Yahoo, Google, eBay, etc.
I had a delay this morning. The web may have been down a bit. I've been a member since 2004 and I am very pleased with the site. This is just a fluke. Hang in there it is normally quite quick.
Not having any issues here. A brief period yesterday was
cleared up quickly, but it wasn't a loading problem, the
site was just not available for a short time.
I've been on Dave's for many years now, and have only
once in a blue moon experienced difficulty, which is typically
when they are working on the site or something.
An occasional blip, but definitely nothing worth giving up my
membership over.
If you recently cleared the cache or cookies on your computer you
will have to wait for the pages to load all over again.

Also if your ram is full it may take forever to load. I suggest you shut down your computer and restart it. It clears out your ram and will probably make things faster. I do it when I find my computer is running slowly. Also run your virus checker to be sure.
It's a DG issue - not the computer or the web. If I can get to any other site without delay and DG is dragging its feet, then it is a DG issue. If DG was fast and Google was slow then it would be a Google problem for instance.
If I can't get to any site or everything is slow, then it is usually a connection problem (router, ISP, etc.).
If I have a problem opening programs then it is a computer problem (usually some memory hog which you have to figure out with task manager if you can get it to open or hardware problems).
HC,
Are you having problems with DG?
I'm on all the time and have not noticed any problems at all.
KM
Not now but I have at times like yesterday. Maybe I'm seeing problems when the site is fully loaded. I've seen problems from time to time and even asked the admin what is going on. They usually acknowledge they are having some issues and get things fixed in a day or so.
Sometimes I post a reply and hit the send button and wait and wait and wait. I didn't even send a picture. Then I can go to another popular site (with a ton more users) and boom, there it is served up on my plate with butter on the side.
DG was the only site that I was having a problem with but shortly after posting my complaint it cleared up? Is this strange or what??
There are some changes being beta tested. This, and other issues, are being discussed at
http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/dg/all/
That's the fastest way to get Dave's attention and he is always quick to respond.

Yup...stuff is going on behind the scenes right now...I've had intermittent problems too and I'm on cable.
The quality of this site and the variety of information you can get is well worth a little delay now and then. I figure when there is a delay they must be upgrading or something. All websites have glitches now and then.
I often wonder if it is due to the number of images folks are uploading. For
example, once everyone' s daylilies are blooming, the site is full of pending
images. Just a thought, perhaps crazy, but it goes through my mind. LOL.
Wuvie -- I've thought the same thing. This is a very image-rich web site and you never know how many folks are uploading images at the same time.

there have been several instances when i had the same problem. i would clikc onto a forum and the little green lights at the bottom of the page seemed to take forever to complete. hans't happened lately though.
Perhaps that is a feature that comes with membership to allow us
bathroom break time.
;-) LOL
I think you have it right Wuvie. It's a feature and not a bug. We used to say that when software didn't work right (including our own).
The gist of this post wasn't about whether DG has a quality site or not. What it was about was the frustration of waiting and waiting and waiting.....
Needless to say I have been in that boat many times on this site, including just a few minutes ago. I am basically re-typing everything I just did and THOUGHT I had sent. Then I found out it did not go. How frustrating is that?
I can think of many businesses in recent years that have declared bankruptcy because of the way they treated their customers (clients). What may have been a loyal base at one time can quickly turn if something better comes along and if the customer is not treated right.
I better save this in notepad before I send this so I won't have to type it again.
The few times I've had a problem, once I tried again later, it was cleared up. I figure maybe Dave is just tinkering again, trying something else fun to make the site better. I would ask him about it in the Dave's Garden forum, as he is a computer geek and should know what to tell you.
Hi Ky,
Same here, I've never known Dave's to be such a problem
that I considered leaving. As large a site as it is, the occasional
blip is nothing.
I was actually teasing about the bathroom feature. ;-)
:-) Happy member here.
What, DG has a bathroom? Wow, I wouldn't even have to leave the computer! ;)
Well if you want slow try out MySpace all though it has sped up since Murdock bought it out and has added server space. As for Dave's it is possible that with the new advertisers and new members the servers are getting overloaded and adding extra servers is not a quickie thing that can be done and will always have a series of debugging problems until they can all be brought on line.
Then there is your browser that can get selective amnesia which can slow you down on certain sites when their system has to route its way to a site.
Then there are always viruses and spy ware that can cause problems I use AVG and windows defender that sweep my system both are free and the most effective I have found to date, but if they are updating while you are on line they can really interfere with what you are doing until they are done.
These are just a few of my favorite things that slow my system down.
Don :)
