Here are the results of all your help!!!!

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

Wow, wasn't yesterday the best fall day we have had in a long time...lol I was in the yard all day after my Dr.'s appt., until dusk..6:30PM!

Thanks to all of you for your help. encouragement, and kind replies.

Susybell, I love the idea, I had been toying with a trellis and possibly a vine but could not think of a vine that was green year round here?? I think it might be sometimers....lol

Murmur will you be traveling to the trade? I still have a japanese maple stick tree for you and would love some of that wild tall verbena? Or I go to Edmonds to see the Dr. for the surgery....I go again in 12 weeks sometime in January. Not sure if you are ever in that area?

Kathy, Did I send you enough info on the greenhouse? I did find the name of the place I bought the poly from and the screws you use for the poly...I will email you in a minute! I got so busy with Sister being here for 6 weeks and the back issues I forgot so many things, I am still trying to catch up....I even let the painting go outside and am trying to do some on the good autumn days???

Laurie, Our tea area is getting better everyday, I am like Redtootsiepop, I can't wait for it to fill in so I can overstuff it. By the time we have tea together maybe we will have a secret area...with the growth no one will be able to interupt....lol

Thanks KatyMac, I can't wait until it fills in and I can add more...lol

"Balvenie" I have been wondering about you! How is your back doing and did you make it outside yesterday to dig??? lol wasn't yesterday such a wonderful fall day!
I have decided to do a pot or two for fall/winter and will be including some of the grass you gave me...
Come have a seat anytime, I do not have the tea you served but I always have green tea and usually homemade oatmeal cookies, unless it is the day to bake them.

Thanks tillysrat...He has been so super this season, I think it is because he realizes I will try to do it myself and make the back problem worse. He knows when "I have a mind to" it gets done! I may have overplanted then (whats new) I planted 1 pink and 1 white pampas and a miscanthus....I think big!

In closing I chased this critter around Oct. 13th trying to get a good picture, he/she just lifted my soul seeing him/her flittering around, it really astonished me when he/she lit on my shoe. I think as I get older I get nuttier... because I do believe he/she was sent to me! Instead of pennies from heaven I get critters...LOL

You should put he/she in the photo contest. Great pic

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

Thanks tillysrat,

I don't even know what it is "moth" I know, but not sure what kind? Do you have pictures of your pampas grass?

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

I second Tills - insect thread! That is a winner!!! Looking forward to tea, and I'm turning up on the day the baking gets done - years since I've had (too many) cookies hot from the oven - I like the hooo-hoooo-hoooooo bit as you try to cool it in your mouth. Not the same if you do the baking - you have to snitch them. Excellent.

Evergreen climber: Trachelospermum jasminoides - does the trellising have a bit of shelter from the winds? You might be able to grow Star Jasmine over it - fast growing with THE most delicious scent I have ever experienced - my neighbour grows it across the ground as cover, and in mid summer when it is blooming the scent fills her entire house, wafting in through open windows and doors. I just love it. Can be frost damaged, but hers seems pretty hardy - and it is definately worth trialing.

Okay Tills and Laurie...I submitted it to the photo contest....

Laurie the winds are a problem here....I will check on both of those and see how they fair in this area, the smell would be an added bonus!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Here's a pic of the pampas I ran out and just took it. Its pouring rain here so I took it from the deck not a very good pic, but you can see how big it is from the truck parked next to it. and the plumes or white, the pink kinda shows the pink.

Wow just gorgeous....I think that will hide that rain barrel really well!
Thanks,
Carla

that's another photo for PNW! excellent.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Are you sure Laurie, and what would I put it under?

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Tilly!!! I really chuckled over that - my hurrah was for Cocoa putting in the butterfly! You can't have all the praise - having said that, my preference would be for the all green shot. Although, the pink one could just about be squeeked in as a container arrangement - you could almost convince them with a title: Pink Pampas in Blue Truck.

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

Laurie,
Thanks for the vote of confidence....but I now have NOTED...do not have a mouthful of tea when reading these post.....I spit it all over.....container gardening with the pink pampas in a truck....ROTFLMBO

Thanks for the laughter, I have to go clean up the rug now...oh well it will keep me out of trouble.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I don't think that would work, and I agree with Cocoajuno. LOL
If I dug it up and put in the bed maybe??? (not going to happen) (Laughing)
When they said container, they didnt say what kind !!!!!!
But I do have a car out here I can't get rid of, and I have seen them made into flower beds, may have to work on that for next years contest, To funny.
"Datsun 1983 Spring Flower Special" ( please do not test drive) >>>>>>>>
Let your mind travel.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Ohh, that would be wonderful!! I loved the garden seat from Heidi's garden with the succulents bedded down - wonderful when things find a new purpose in life. I'm looking forward to the placement of the Datsun '83!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks Laurie, I know its just the waiting part that gets me and missing any good days to do something about.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

but look at all the bunnies in your yard!!! :)

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I just try to imagine all the work that's being done underground with our sleeping babies . . . and the promise of things to come.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

Me too, Katie - Spring is fantastic - I've only been gardening for a few years, but something always comes up that I had forgotten about! love it!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks for the "looking at the bright side of it all"

Gorgeous Tilly! My hardy fushia is still blooming too! So is my nicotiana.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I'm brain-dead about this time, had a house full of kids, including my new baby niece, and forgot everything ( so great to hold a new born LOL) I cannot remember what a Nicotiana is? (HELP I feel like a big old dummy about right now) Nothing like having Two 5 year olds and a baby and your 40 year old son on the phone, asking how to take care of a cat, all at the same time.#####
Thank goddness I have DG... LOL...

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Sounds like you had one crazy day lady! Here is the link: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/127646/

It smells wonderful after the sun goes down in the summer. Super sweet!

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

TWO 5 YEAR OLDS!! I like my friends policy - wind them up and then give them back. Says it cuts down on the babysitting requests, and the little ones just think she is the most exciting person on earth. Sounds win-win to me.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Mary -

You are a saint. Probably wonder how you ever did it before, eh?

But I know how wonderful it is to hold a new baby . . .

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks all
It was a very busy day, what is funny The 5 year olds are not to bad, and the baby was so good, and nevered cryed, the 40 year old baby was the worst,The boy just dosent want to grow up. and he has kids of his own. "Whats a mother to do"
To funny LOL

Rach
Those are beytiful.. Do you start them from seeds, or do you have to buy plants?
Have to put them on my list and I have the perfect place in mine, right by the front door.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Tilly-
Pixy started them from seed and gave me six little tiny babies. They where about two inches tall when I got them. Here is a picture of what they looked like in September (four plants.) I would be happy to send you some seeds, is your addy in the exchange? Rach

Rachel -

How pretty!!! What a great combination and location for them.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Thanks Katie! I love the smell of them in the evening!

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

They look wonderful with the Echincea and lilies and snugging the curve of the path - looks great.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Thanks for the compliments ladies. It's so wonderful to have other gardeners to share it with!

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

Rach, do those nicotina overwinter or do you reseed? I have always dug mine up when they look "yucky", am I doing something I shouldn't be?

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Cocoa,
I talked to Pixy and she told me that hers come back every year. So I'm guessing that they reseed or come back from the root? I am leaving my plants in the ground and I left some seed pods on them so they can self seed. Let me check with Pixy for confirmation and get back to you. Rachel
