Happy Birthday to bigcityal!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That IS very cool Al. That's the kind of stuff I'd be interested in - not so much for fixing photos. The only fixing I'd be interested in would be un-doing the mistake my camera makes with white balance on certain colors.

I see today's article is about a Dahlia tree. Didn't read it but did you find it interesting? Will you get one??!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

There are a lot of uses for the programs and you can learn as you go. I'm sure we'll restart that editing thread this winter.

I did read that article, I have only hinted for one so far - I might beg more this winter, although it wouldn't flower unil midNovember here - most people who grow them rarely make it to flowering.

Is Elements easy & powerful enough??

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I do like Elements better than PaintShopPro myself, but I have always used Adobe software(although Corel pretty much copied their lingo). I have seen nice stuff done in both formats. I still have Elements3, but it runs quirky on Vista.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

What does that mean, Al? I have Vista now too.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Still wishing you happy birthday Al!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We're keeping this going until his next one. Helps with the forum count.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks Dave!

Hard not to get a big head Victor with over 600 hundred views ;)

Nancy - did you get an uprade for your program to Vista? I know PSP11 has one and Elements5 does, most older ones won't be supported. You have used yours since then right?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Al, you know you're responsible for over 500 of those views.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

No wonder I can do pushups with my mouse finger.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Impressive.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes, Al. I've used my PSP9 since Vista, and it is fine. I'll check on the upgrade though. Thanks.

This Babylon Purple is an amazing color! Thank you thank you thank you!

You're welcome. It has a cool feltiness to it. I had to laugh this summer at the arboretum I do lawn work at, the horticulturist there had that one and was surprised it wasn't purple - should of asked me I said.

Maybe PSP is fine then. My old Elements does funny things like putting in lines or leaving 'trails' when I move stuff.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I see. So far none of that kind of stuff.

It's difficult to put a name on the color. Sort of like several crayons on top of each other. Pink, red, purple and orange.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Ok... I just downloaded the trial version... now let's see how "friendly" it really is!!!

ok....Al my REALLY purple dahlias are very slow!!!! goodness gracious... what can I do to speed them up???? I am dying for a big purple bloom!!!!

nap - Babylon Purple is so beautiful. That mix of colors is a delight, too.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

No secrets for you there Kass.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Pirl, it's from Al. His contributions to my garden this year REALLY are the crown!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Al, do Dahlias do as well in pots as in the ground? Not sure I've asked that already. It would certainly make it easier to dig up the tubers.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Gee, sorry I missed your birthday, Al, but I was away camping. Hope this is your best year yet :-)

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Al - that music box pic is real cool - that would make a nice picture for your wall

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks Anita - I was just thinking about getting another wall too.

Thanks Michaela.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Al, where can I get a 'big head Victor'? is that one of those bobbleheads? hey, if we keep this thread going does it accelerate your aging process? it's like a Twilight Zone episode. reverse Dorian Gray.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

bigcityAl would have to be a Dahlia bobbleplant. I can visualize his car's rear window now with all of his dahlias bobbing.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Are you familiar with the flower fairies? These were water colours and poems printed in books sometime in the '20s and '30s I believe.

Well, if Al is the Dahlia fairy, and I am certainly the lavender fairy, which one are you pirl? and which one is Victor?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Probably Viburnum. There are others I want to say, but I'm restraining myself.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I'm the fairy princess... I get to wear glitter.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

No,no, Harper - these are flower fairies - it has to be a flower. Is there a glittery flower?

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Sheesh. I WANNA BE THE FAIRY PRINCESS!!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I'm not playing if there are going to be rules!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Okay - no rules and Harper gets to be the fairy princess

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Wheeeeeee!!!!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Don't you feel better now?

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I want some cake too.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Can i come? Where's the party?

xxxx, Carrie

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Better make it chocolate almaretto (sp?) cheesecake.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

hey, if I post a pic of all my dahlias in the NE forum will that be cheating??? I want to keep our reputation going!!!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Post them wherever you can I say. You can start your own thread in dahlias too.

Thanks Al... I will do it... I am just waiting for some others to bloom.... I keep going over and telling them they are slow... but they don't pay any attention to me!!!
